I'm not sure how they calculate shipping, but my guess is a certain rate per box. Although the number of comics I get each month varies, the shipping is consistently the same. For those items that are in my cart right now, the shipping options are:

UPS
Monthly: $7.05 (this is what I always choose)
Biweekly: $13.05
Weekly: $17.05

USPS Priority Mail
Monthly: $8.80
Biweekly: $15.80
Weekly: $21.80

USPS Media Mail
Monthly: $7.30
Biweekly: $14.30
Weekly: $20.30
Sounds like an excellent deal! :thumb:

That's a good price overall. I would probably have to be buying a lot more books for it to be worth it though.

Picked up Fell #6 to give it a try. Is that book always $1.99? I liked the story.

Their smallest discount is 36%. Most books fall under that or 40%. But there are quite a few with a 50%. Some select issues (usually something eventful like a #1 or a major turning point - something that's heavily promoted by the publisher) even get a 75% discount - as with Astro City and Authority this month. No minimum order. You're not locked in as a monthly subscriber unless you opt to do so. Great packing and customer service. Flexible shipping options - once a month, every two weeks, ever week, UPS, USPS, etc. They will bag and board for 12 cents per b&b, but they don't advertise it.

That is http://www.MailOrderComics.com.

Does anybody use this service get good copies (ie no dings/scratches/spine tears)? what is the grade of comics received?

The comics I get are in great shape. I've only had one comic in the two years or so I've been using them that had a scuffed cover. But no tears of any kind. No spine creases. No corner dings. They're in better shape than you would find on the rack of an LCS because they haven't been bent over and flipped through and handled by a dozen people. They go straight from the Diamond shipping box into a bag & board and then shipped to me.
I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

Just wanted to say BIG THANK YOU to anyone here that recommended WALKING DEAD.

I just read my first issue, number 30. Nothing like it. Absolutely awesome.

Anyone that doesn't have it on their subs list should pick it up IMMEDIATLEY. You are missing one of the ebst comics coming out right now.

Thanks!

Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

Heh. That issue was actually sub par for the series (to me at least). Glad you liked it though. If you haven't, get the 5 trades. This book reads great in trades.

The story is equally as sucky!
I'm just trying to get through my unread stack of comics from years ago.
This next weekend I'm getting "snipped" (3 kids is enuff) so that'll give me plenty of reading/healing time. A frozen sack of peas and a stack of readers! ya hoo :thumb:

I'm reading Warriors of Plasm that I got form Knightt.....

I love the concept, I love the story-telling.... not to crazy about the art.... some pics have too much going on..... the Plasm-ites... are sometimes too confusing to see exactly what is going on...... some of the splash pages I just glance over... too much stuff.....

while the two page spash when Grandmother uses the plasma cannon (I think) on the spider aliens (breathes fire on them)....that is a pic I could stare at for quite a long time....

With so many heroes it could be hard to keep track of them. Especially when you have different versions of the same character. Look at how many people have been called "The Flash" or "Green Lantern," etc.

As explanations go, it's a stretch, but it's all I got...
