Re: What comics are you reading now?
It is worth reading since it is a new concept. I read the entire series on my iPad during this lockdown. I wouldn’t go as far as buying the floppies but if you can get it online cheap it is worth reading. It is a fast read.

Thanks! It looks like there are three hardcovers collecting the story thus far and I ordered the LCSD one for $16 shipped so I guess I'll start there and see how much I like it. The other two hardcovers look to be about $30 each.magnus20009 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 14, 2020 8:12:25 amIt is worth reading since it is a new concept. Re: What comics are you reading now?
I’ve been meaning to read that series for quite some time - an old friend of mine did a ton of covers for that comic! I’d be curious to find out if his covers are in those collected trades or not.geocarr wrote: ↑Sun Jun 14, 2020 10:55:36 pmThanks! Aah, gotcha. I didn’t *think* they’d actually collaborated on an issue, but it’s been so long, I couldn’t be sure. I’ve got all the issues you mention, but I’d also forgotten Byrne’s were so close to the start of David’s run. Some day, when I get a mansion, I’ll have easier access to my comics. Heck, forget the mansion, I’d love to have a basement! (most of my comics boxes are crammed in the bottom of closets and not easy to access.)grendeljd wrote: ↑Fri Jun 12, 2020 2:21:04 pm They never paired up, but Byrne did draw the cover for #359, which is in the midst of PAD’s run. I was referring to all the tremendously talented artists who worked on the title from #300 up to the end of Vol. 1, which is about 30 issues prior to PAD’s start. As you’re probably aware, Byrne wrote & drew 314-319!

Re: What comics are you reading now?
I'm still reading everything Valiant, but the books aren't as good as they once were and I'm contemplating dumping them. The big surprise is I've been buying everything Zenescope for at least a couple of years and I'm thoroughly enjoying most of these books. DC's Hill House books have been solid. I'm also buying Metal Men, Shazam, Doctor Aphra, Cimmerian, and numerous books from Kickstarter. I enjoyed the recent X-Men reboot but the bulk of the mutant line has, predictably, crashed and burned.

Re: What comics are you reading now?
I used to be a HUGE Zenescope fanboy, but fell off the line around the time Pat Shand left the company. Since then I've only picked up a handful of the miniseries. Currently, I'm reading the Funeral for a Friend arc of the Superman books. Saw the "Reign of the Supermen" movie and decided I wanted to read the comics. And I also have the entire VH1 run of Dr. Mirage on my tablet begging to be read.
Manga, comics, who cares? They're pretty much the same thing.

I just read the Absolute slipcover edition of Batman Year One. I picked that off the spinner rack back in 1986 every month, and this is the first time I read it since then. Absolutely fabulous!
I just finished the Watchmen tv show. Outstanding!

Continuing the Boom! Horror books:
Once and Future (Cool take on Arthurian and other legends meets Supernatural/Buffy)
Something is Killing the Children (Great horror story with a compelling lead character. Just starting to build out it’s larger world)
The Red Mother (A bit slow paced but keeps you hooked. Reads like a horror film)
King of Nowhere (Bit trippy with more fantasy elements than the others, but hooked me right away)
Really enjoying all 4.

I’ve been reading lots of Masterworks. Also working my way through other collected editions, like DH Conan Chronicles and Peter David’s Hulk run in various formats.

Rereading the issues I own of Earth 2 from the New 52. I forgot how much I liked it! And when that is done I'm gonna dig into the John Byrne run on Wonder Woman, most likely.

Re: What comics are you reading now?
I am still enjoying Immortal Hulk immensely - I discovered that it was truly the only comic that I really missed while the industry hit the pause button for covid19. There have been two issues of it out already since publication resumed, and They have been fantastic, even without the regular art team on either issue to date.
I was also very pleasantly surprised to discover that I got a letter printed in issue #35!!
Nothing beats that thrill as a life-long comic nerd. Its not easy to get into a Marvel comic, even these days with less people on average writing in. Not only that, but The Hulk is an all-time top favourite character/comic of mine, so it feels like quite a lucky achievement to be published in it! Nerd-bucket-list item - checkmarked!! This was my third letter in a Marvel comic, in roughly 30 years of writing in at various times.

Re: What comics are you reading now?
Anyone reading Strange Adventures? Long break after #1 due to the pandemic, but issue #3 dropped last week. It’s slow paced, but really sucks you in with the underlying mystery of what ACTUALLY happened on Rann. While I greatly enjoyed King’s acclaimed Mister Miracle, I did tire of the sketchy-at-best plot; which he seemed to sacrifice at the expense of the deep character study he was doing of Scott Free. Here, I think he’s figured out a better balance between the two. And if you haven’t read it yet, check out King’s Vision series from a few years back—it’s awesome.

Re: What comics are you reading now?
Finally got around to read Doomsday Clock.
This was absolutely- and tbh, surprisingly -VERY, VERY good, specially after the middle until the very end, last freaking panel.
And it sure reads better in one sitting, I had called quits on the 4th issue delay, I think.
DC fans who haven't read this yet, do it!!!!!!!!!

Definitely. Still my favorite super hero book. The end came fast, but it read well as a big story.

It really is a great series. Hope the animated show does it justice.
I’ve got a number 1 I’m planning to submit to CGC if I figure out the process.

Re: What comics are you reading now?
Hey guys we're almost at page 365 of inane banter and comics revelry. Or inane revelry and comics banter, I'm a bit confused on that one.
Just seems a little cool.
For me, I'm still only reading new Dr. Tomorrow and Dejah Thoris. I have more than enough backlog to supply my reading.

I've been looking everywhere for the ultra-rare Turok vs Blister issue. Anybody able to help me out?

Congrats, too! Having letters printed is awesome. I had a letter printed in The Bunker #2 by Joshua Hale Fialkov. It was the very first one. Unfortunately it was only in the early digital version and there were different letters in the print version later on. Maybe I should have sent the same letter in again but I didn't. Damn myself!!Itarheelmarine wrote: ↑Tue Aug 11, 2020 4:40:07 amCongrats on the letter. I have read Immortal Hulk thru the trades and did not realize they published a letter column. Re: What comics are you reading now?
I just read the Absolute Edition of All Star Batman and Robin: The Boy Wonder. The introduction explained that this story is in the same bat-verse as Dark Knight, Dark Knight Returns, etc. Knowing that, I really enjoyed the series. I enjoyed the Batman with an edge, and art (of course) was fantastic. I was disappointed to know that the sequel was never published (and likely never will be).
