What happened to new pre-DH HC Solar/Magnus projects?

Post by edlockman »

Guys:

Besides that it didn't, whatever happened to the "new" concept for Solar and "new" concepts for Magnus before DH got the rights to do the HCs of the Gold Key issues?

Wasn't there a link floating around to a few pages that were already done for Magnus and some early pics of a new younger looking Solar? I know I'm not losing my mind on this... Any help would be appreciated.

The iBooks Magnus? do a search on that one. The review here was scathing to put it nicely.

no idea about Solar.

a company that published a Magnus: Robot Fighter graphic novel that was very disappointing to VALIANT fans, they are now out of business.

No, he's talking about the Magnus relaunch before iBooks got the license to create new material, and a Solar relaunch with Pat Quinn as the penciller.

Scroll down and you'll see Pat's Solar pages.

SOLAR VISIONS

You remember the Valiant Revival that failed from the past few weeks of Lying In the Gutters? Well, we've managed to acquire some of the Pat Quinn pencils for the "Solar" project. Most likely the only glimpse you'll get of this attempt to bring back one of the nineties most enduring boom relics. Here's a look at five pages of artwork by Pat Quinn. And next week we hope to bring you pages from Magnus.

Enjoy.

Sean Claurette was going to do the Magnus story.

I can't find any of his pages online or at his site, but maybe if you email him and ask for them he'll show them to you.

Solar - not that bad...

Post by edlockman »

Ok, not the Doctor Solar or Solar that we were used to, but it might have been decent. Besides the fact that he's wearing a jumpsuit.

That's the Solar information that I knew about. The Magnus one was a bunch of pages that showed generals around a war room table ploting things out and then getting attacked and killed by robots. It was about two or three splash pages.

I think it is probably in the archives somewhere, but I'm still searching.

Thanks for the info MOTA :atomic: :thumb:

I hope you find those pages but they may have gotten lost when the board crashed a few years ago.

The guy who pencilled them, Sean Claurette, was a member of the board back then but he's not in the current member list, which leads me to believe that he didn't sign up as a member again after the crash.

Personally I didn't like them that much, they reminded me of the Fifth Element and Robotech Invid War, heh.
