Just who are you, and why should we care?
Cute,
Not like I have to explain anything, but I will.
1. She did no homework. She typed the description. I, her brother did a quick average on previous sold items. I sold this issue for 12.47.This is the second one, Her EX Gimmick worked well! We made a killing on those 2, 300 count boxes. Only you uberfans know what they are worth, we look for the impulse buyer.
2. I really don't care if you are laughing at us, but read out about me page. Her husband died 3 years ago, May 5th 02. Please don't stress her more than she is.
3. I am her Brother, and will protect her. Any further bogus offers, and rude E's will stop! I will report you to eBay, (AOL, yep you got a lamer that uses aol. I thought it was just for novices like Paddle is) and perhaps your little BBS, under harassment terms. I am sure the Sysop does not need that crap. Talk in your BB all you want, but have some compassion. She does not need this.
Looking forward to seeing this message dissected, and laughed at. If this is your entertainment, you should get a little more of a life. Flaming is so 1992.

You EXPLICITLY state you did. Were you just lying then? Or are you lying now? Which is it?Seeth wrote:Cute,

1. She did no homework.
Not THIS one, you didn't.She typed the description. I, her brother did a quick average on previous sold items. I sold this issue for 12.47.
What, so you can rip them off? "We know this 1973 Yugo's only worth $100, but we're hoping for that Impulse buyer to pay us $15,000."This is the second one, Her EX Gimmick worked well! We made a killing on those 2, 300 count boxes. Only you uberfans know what they are worth, we look for the impulse buyer.
How do you sleep at night, knowing you are trying to rip people off?
And please...save that 'they don't have to bid' nonsense...you just stated you're hoping to snag the 'unwary' at a price GROSSLY beyond market value. That's, by definition, ripping them off.
Why does this justify trying to rip people off? People die all the time, and it's never justified trying to rip people off before.2. I really don't care if you are laughing at us, but read out about me page. Her husband died 3 years ago, May 5th 02. Please don't stress her more than she is.
And....if you're going for the sympathy angle, you *might* want to change your sarcastic description. Kinda defeats the purpose (and by 'kinda' I mean absolutely, totally, 100% change it.) The extreme sarcasm in the description does NOT lead one to believe you are looking for sympathy.
Baloney. People have the right to offer whatever the heck they want to offer, just like YOU have the right to offer whatever the heck YOU want to offer. Don't like it? DON'T SELL ON EBAY.3. I am her Brother, and will protect her. Any further bogus offers, and rude E's will stop! I will report you to eBay, (AOL, yep you got a lamer that uses aol. I thought it was just for novices like Paddle is) and perhaps your little BBS, under harassment terms.
DUH.
Oh, and 'reporting' people to eBay is lame, childish, and ineffective. So long as people aren't TRULY harassing you, they're allowed to do whatever they wish, INCLUDING making offers and 'rude E's'.
I am sure the Sysop does not need that crap. Talk in your BB all you want, but have some compassion. She does not need this.

There's a reason this thread exists: to mock sellers who are doing foolish things.
Trying to sell a 25 cent comic for $14.49 is foolish. HUGELY foolish.
If she 'doesn't need this', she should TRULY do her homework and stop listing nonsense, waste of time listings like this.
Your wish, etc etc etc....Looking forward to seeing this message dissected, and laughed at.
Stop trying to rip people off. It's FAR ruder...and unethical...than sending you 'rude E's' and 'bogus' offers. If this is your entertainment, you should get a little more of a life. Flaming is so 1992.

Hahahaha
That's awesome!!!!! How do these idiots always manage to find their way here?
Hold on. I think I know what is really going on here. You (her brother) and she were always madly in love, weren't you? So you conspired to kill the husband so that the two of you could be incestfully happy for the rest of time selling crapola and his old comic collection on ebay. I'm 99% sure that this is what is going on here. Are you all from West Virginia by any chance?
By the way, I offer $.04 on the lot. YOU pay the shipping!!

So you blatantly admit trying to rip people off? Yeah, that's REAL cool. By the way, your stupid-*SQUEE* "EX" description that you've been using FOREVER is simply laughable and I wouldn't buy dick from you BECAUSE of it!Seeth wrote:Cute,

Somehow, I bet this is another worked up story to try to create sympathy sales. Exactly WHO on ebay gives a crap about this lady's husband dying 3 YEARS AGO? Move on, Wench!! I think the story is BS as are the rest of your selling tactics.Seeth wrote: 2. I really don't care if you are laughing at us, but read out about me page. Her husband died 3 years ago, May 5th 02. She had a husband that died 3 years ago...how long ago was she the gf of the guy she bought this comic for....10,15 years? Isn't that kinda irrelevant to the description of the comic.....damn dude, i should try that...
"15 years ago in grade 6, I had a bully fighting me everyday trying to take my super awesome superman comic, but everytime i perserved (even tho he whooped my *SQUEE*). It kills me to sell it today, knowing the pain this caused me, but i'm trying to eliminate the demons of my past with my current pyschiatrist" *BS*

see doncha feel better?
I assure you everything is true. Normally I would not care that you make fun of Paddle, but the 3rd anniversity of her husband's death was THIS MONTH. Who cares? She does! God Forbid you loose someone close. The Anniversity of the death will hurt! I was the one who found him, dead on the floor. That was tramatic to me, and he was my Bro-in-law.
How do I sleep at night? On silk sheets! How do you feel harassing a single woman, because I priced the rag according to the Average Sold Price at that time on eBay(yeah I am guilty of half assed homework, like none of you have). So the price is too high, my bad! But now I'd rather sit on a blender than change the price. If we were approched differentlly, we would have accepted your input. I am so happy they are almost gone! We have a host of other crap the deserves comment. We do not know too much about comics, it was just what we had for sale, as we got a good deal. We don't rip people off. I have 1000 people's feedbacks to back that up. Capitalism is our right as Americans, perhaps you are Commies? $4.50 shipping is what it costs to send, if you buy one, or 25. Flat rate envelopes are very safe, and cardboard I Add inside makes it even safer. Many times I have to void the flat rate. If you tape the flap, it is no longer flat rate. Am I to toss it in a plain envelope, so it looks like *SQUEE* when the customer gets it?
How did I find you? One of your members seemed so proud of putting us down, he wanted to share the thread with Kristy (Paddlefeet). I intercepted, and came to the source. I suppose I could have found you, since you became a very big source of refferal Traffic, thank you! To think I could have sold those 7 issues of Web of Spiderman for $20 because of your kind, free advertising.
She was with this guy for almost a year, he did her wrong. He sees our eBay. I guess that was her way of saying FU to him. Turned out to be popular! When it was a fresh story, it got lots of attention.
I don't care what you want to say, but please keep it here, rather than our business. I don't go to your job, and mock you... We are past teeny bopper flamer hour crap years ago. Despite your words, we will continue to make money off this part time hobby. Wait until the Vectrex hits the block...
PS We don't look for sympathy sales, we mearly tell the story of how we got on eBay. There are ups and downs, as any part of life.
PPS I saw some of those other auctions, they are the ones who rob people blind. Go pester them.

It figures, you try to point out something about an auction to some microcephallic with no experience in a subject/field and they come back with a "I know more I seen this sell" crap. You should open a LCS, given that you have the perfect mindset for it.
Look, the "my boyfriend dumped my sloppy hole" shtick is older than eBay: I think it's a very diluted version of the estranged wife selling her husband's antique Vette for $50 or so to get back at him and his secretary who ran off. (Check out Snopes.com for more of that Urban Legend.)
I'd feel sorry for your sister if I didn't think that you'd made the whole bit up: No sister, no ex-boyfriend, no finding a dead bro-in-law. These facts just seem to pop out at a convenient clip as you try to justify the basic fact: You are knowingly attempting to rip people off.
The more *SQUEE* like you get away with this stuff, the worse things will be for the real collectors. We have every right to blast you, seeing as you now know (and most likely did before your were contacted) that your auction is fraudulent.
What say we report that to eBay? As long as you're running auctions like this, you're guilty of fraud and overuse of a tired cliché.

Oh Geeze
Fraud,
Exactly what is the fraud? I think you give too much credit. I am not smart enough to make up such a story. I'm not saying that her Ad was a good or a bad thing to do, that was all her. I just put in issue numbers, and yes I made the prices. Direct your disgust to me.
The comic is real (I did not expect to get ten, that is why the make an offer is there. I thought I'd get 4bux, guess not), Tom was Real, I am real, Kristy is real. Her EX B/F is real, infact he tries to sell under the name NEVCvanner. his prices are a farce. I hated him, so the hole comment gave me a chuckle.
Talk all you want, I cannot take that right from you. I just ask you keep it here. I don't care if you do not believe me, actually your make-believe is quite funny! Perhaps it is childish if I reported that lil *SQUEE*-nut to AOL, and all. How grown up was it for him to bring me into all this? I won't tolerate it is all. KEEP IT HERE.
I could run all over the internet to produce the obit, or change our about me page picture to our original. The pic there now is me with my little Niece. Problem is that I care about what you all say, as much as you me. I just had to come here, out of curiosity. What I found was a bunch of fanboys with overactive Imaginations. Pretty funny, but Sad.
The only comics I read was Secret Wars, and Tank Girl. MY lack of knowlage of comics is not on trial. I admit that freely.
Thank you for your submission in your hall of shame.

The form of fraud I'm accusing you of is knowingly hawking something as what it is not. If you're still intending to run these auctions as "rare comics" and claiming they're the gold/plat. versions when they're not, that's fraud.
As for us being fan-boys . . . that confirms the fact that you've never read a Valiant comic. Imagination? I like to think so, but you've seen one "Revenge on X auction" you've seen most. There are some done in a tongue and cheek manner that pretty funny, but they usually let you know up front that they know it's a sham.
At this time, I have no intentions of "taking it off the board," but I am watching your auctions now, so please refrain from claiming to do home-work (thus implying to an ignorant customer that you are correct in your description) when all you've done is browsed a few auctions that look like it might be a similar item. I realize that if someone stupid comes along, you'll make some money. The problem is down the road when they begin collecting more or try to sell that "rare" Turok 1 you sold them and the book they paid $15 for is worth .25. That person tends to walk away, which negatively impacts all collectors/dealers, IMO.
BTW, so you don't feel left out, we do this to eBay sellers on a regular basis. That's what the "Hall of Shame" for: Sellers who are ignorant about comics or those who are out to defraud, either by claiming something is what it's not, or (the most common form) calling a VG a NM.
The truth of the situation was brought to your attention and you appear to have taken a stance of "I can sell turds wrapped in tinfoil and call it sterling silver, as long as there's a sucker to buy it."
This site has tons of excellent info about the history, print-runs and current prices of Valiant comics; so if you really want to get it right, go to the Price Guide link up top.
My advice to anyone trying to make $ off these post-unity commons is to hang onto them for a few more years. If you do your homework and read some stuff on this site, you'll know why that may be advantageous.

At last a compassionate voice!
At last, a kind, and real answer. All of this I did not know! I never claimed these were gold versions. What I mean to explain, I accidentally priced as if it were. I don't believe in fraud. We run a small, but honest business. We may not be the most original, or the biggest. We are also quirky, and weird. It gets us noticed though. There are millions of auctions everyday, and the little guy has to have an edge. It is a part time hobby. It helps us with our day to day lives, and allows us to take a vacation. We have a 99.5% rating we are damn proud of! We just hit 1000 feedbacks too. Perhaps that is where my arrogance came from. I did not appreciate the attacks against Kristy, and I am protective ever since Tom died. He was not my brother, but he had 4 brothers. All of them F'd him over. We were like brothers. When he died, Kristy, and I became close. I'm not super Christian, but I do believe. I stayed, and helped Kristy, as any good brother, or friend would. This was commonplace in our history, a brother looking out for the widowed family. He helped me so much, it was the least I could do. That is why Kristy and I claimed each other as family. We are introduced as siblings, please don't take it as subterfuge. I actually think it was a greater plan that brought me here, as it has made me grow up. Paddlefeet.com has more background. She is my Sister, even if not by blood. We were never lovers, as I met her as a married woman, and our bond is not like that. So let's not go there, please. I will protect her, and her children with my last breath. That is why I tried to keep her out all this. To me it felt like harassment. Most times she can take care of herself, but this month has been tough for her.
I guess for you, you are fighting a cause. Hate is the worst way to fight a cause. He really should not have come at us that way. This could have all been solved easier if we all had cooler heads.
I don't want you to take this off the BB. I have no problems with that. Free speech is just that. I just want the Emails to stop. They have, or seem to have. If anyone really needs to continue, please do it at my email attached to this BBS, its real.
Feel free to watch our auctions, we get many different kinds of things! No I would not want to do that thing with the turd. We try to maintain a good level of quality. It's honest, and that is the only way to survive on eBay. I explained the shipping price, if a book is really worth that much, one should invest in the fastest, and safest means of travel.
Nope, never read a Valiant. Sorry. Never heard of them until I got the books. We never read book one. We did not want to take them out of the plastic at all. The condition they were bought in is the same as what the customer got. Most of the comics were Marvel. Those went the fastest in lots.
eBay is a market of its own. My "homework" consists only of that market. $9.99 is the highest you can list something, without paying more fees. I expected an offer (higher than .05c), not the full amount. I guess this is narrowed viewed for such items as comics. The price was not there to make the hall of shame, or rip anyone off. It was my ignorance of what we were selling. Nothing more. Impulse buyers are a part of all businesses, and why not? I collect Anime, and paid dearly for some things. This has just made me a better shopper, not uninterested. We are not comic dealers, we just happen to have some for sale. This week it is NES Games (With gold seal, original Nintendo), and a Vectrex system. We sell whatever we find.
The EX thing is from October. These were sitting in the store for months, I just rotate them out to the block once in awhile. Helps Cross Promotion. I don't rewrite them, so all of that is old news.
Normally Vero pulls auctions that they feel are fake, or fraud. They have not mentioned any problems to me. Selling a comic for 5cents will lose us money overall. It is easier for me to just cancel it. Why did our other lots from Valiant/Image escape your scrutney?
Everyone who has bought comics from us have aggreed on our assesment of their condition. These comics are very well taken care of. What we have left is kept in the ideal cicumstances. No Light, no moisture, no touching. Our feedback vouches for that. I believe with every inch of my soul these books are in the condition we stated them to be. Why lie? That only gets us bad feedback.
My stance was one of you are not gonna bully me to drop the price. I thought it was a ploy to get a good book cheap. In my trying to convey this, it came out wrong. We treat potential customers very well, except when insulted. This particular person just seemed to hate this title. We offer good prices and shipping, except where my data is flawed, ie advertising a book that is worthless at this time.
Now, more importantly. Thank you for the real suggestions for what to do with all our Valiant collection. we don't want to hold on to them(need to clear space for new stuff), so whomever buys can reap the reward of their purchase. We are not there to make millions, just have fun (most of the time). I'll kill the Armorines listing when it ends. I will add it to one of our other lots. Not because yer watching us, or we are scared, but out of respect for your note (and only your note).
On the lighter side, over this year this site is the #1 refferal site to our auctions outside of eBay, and eBay.ca, so this might not be the first time we made the hall of shame. That did not bother us, bad publicity is still publicity. Those who looked at that comic also strolled about our store for some time.
I now understand that you are running checks, and balances. That I can respect. That one member I feel got that part wrong and was just in it to get the drama we dropped to. I will not judge this site on his actions, please do not judge our store on My pricing mistake.
I'm not gonna put in a shameless plug in this place, but if you ever were/did to deal with us, you would really understand what we are all about.
Respectfully,
Seeth Ransom
I guess for you, you are fighting a cause. Hate is the worst way to fight a cause. He really should not have come at us that way. This could have all been solved easier if we all had cooler heads.

lol,
Don't worry about my post count. I doubt I will be here long. Either the Sysop will nuke me, we will part with peace, and more understanding.
My mind tends to be walled when I don't understand the intentions. I think I understand now.
Have you ever tried to explain this to more sellers? They might be openminded if approached gently. It is good to have the hall of shame, but you got to educate them. I know most might be the powersellers that get away with everything, and tell you to toss off. But atleast you have tried.
You managed to reach me, and I am sorry for my bad behavior in this site.

Greg has only booted people a few times. I don't think that you were ever close to getting booted. I've seen the line and you did not cross it.Seeth wrote:lol,

Your means of introduction to the site is not without precedent. Jedimarley came to the site in a similar (not the same) fashion. He now contributes on a regular basis.
Stick around. For the most part we are a pretty decent group of guys. I think that the important thing is that you take, and apply, the comments made here as constructive criticism

Tech's right. Stick around, you'll probably be surprised at what info one can get from this board. You have handled yourself well and I for one appreciate the fact that you kept your cool and made the effort to understand why you were getting the response you got. Just by what you've shown thus far, I'd rate your response to the criticism at 95% better than most sellers who make it into the HOS. They usually just tell us "it's none of your business" and to go away.Technique wrote:Greg has only booted people a few times. I don't think that you were ever close to getting booted. I will tell you that the reason for learning more from the site is that the characters have taken at least one step back from Limbo, and that there are certain issues of certain books that will, undoubtably, sky-rocket in value once the VU is reborn. I'm not gonna tell you what or why; that's your homework assignment

That, and read ZWH's guide to post-count bumping. It works. I'm living proof.

BTW, I haven't sent any e-mails to anyone . . .

Using a loved one's 'death' as rationalization for poor judgement, or to excuse bad behavior, is tacky and in poor taste, regardless of the circumstances.Seeth wrote:I assure you everything is true.
You SERIOUSlY have NO CLUE what you're talking about. This book has NEVER, EVER sold for $12.47, or any other such nonsense, on eBay, period. You're CONFUSING this with some OTHER book. How do I sleep at night? On silk sheets! How do you feel harassing a single woman, because I priced the rag according to the Average Sold Price at that time on eBay(yeah I am guilty of half assed homework, like none of you have).
When you try to rip the uninformed buyer off, *I* have a problem with that, and *I* will harass anyone who is trying to do it.
It's immoral.
It's unethical.
It's just plain wrong.
Soooo...how do YOU feel about trying to rip people off?
And her marital status has nothing to do with the price of rice in China.
Yeah. Stubborn refusal to back down. THAT'S the solid path to conflict resolution. So the price is too high, my bad! But now I'd rather sit on a blender than change the price.
What you're doing is wrong, regardless of who said it, or how it was said.If we were approched differentlly, we would have accepted your input.
Pay very close attention to the words I am about to type:I am so happy they are almost gone! We have a host of other crap the deserves comment. We do not know too much about comics, it was just what we had for sale, as we got a good deal. We don't rip people off.
YOU ARE TRYING TO CHARGE $14.49 FOR A 25 CENT COMIC BOOK.
Got it? Need I repeat it?
How are you NOT trying to rip people off??
There you go...throw in the "question the patriotism" card. THERE'S the true path to enlightened discussion.I have 1000 people's feedbacks to back that up. Capitalism is our right as Americans, perhaps you are Commies?
Capitalism is your right. You are free to charge whatever you want for anything you want.
We, however, are free to mock you if you put things up for sale at stupid prices....AND..we are free to warn potential customers of your shifty ways.
You see, just BEING on eBay gives items that normall have none at least a SEMBLANCE of legitimacy, and that's the problem.
That's why this forum exists.
A red herring, ladies and gentlemen, utterly..and I DO MEAN UTTERLY...irrelevant to the discussion at hand.$4.50 shipping is what it costs to send, if you buy one, or 25. Flat rate envelopes are very safe, and cardboard I Add inside makes it even safer. Many times I have to void the flat rate. If you tape the flap, it is no longer flat rate. Am I to toss it in a plain envelope, so it looks like *SKREE* when the customer gets it?
Stop trying to rip people off, and this won't happen. How did I find you? One of your members seemed so proud of putting us down,
That's because most of us aren't actively trying to rip people off.he wanted to share the thread with Kristy (Paddlefeet).
In other words, you have no conscience, and are perfectly content to try and rip people off.We are past teeny bopper flamer hour crap years ago. Despite your words, we will continue to make money off this part time hobby.
Makes sense.
Yes, dear. I wonder how many offers I can submit in the next day?Wait until the Vectrex hits the block...
PS We don't look for sympathy sales, we mearly tell the story of how we got on eBay. There are ups and downs, as any part of life.
PPS I saw some of those other auctions, they are the ones who rob people blind. Go pester them.

I think I found my Emailer...
Dewd it's over, yer too late. I'm past my rant. I already was educated, "I got served". Let the anger go, that is the path to the dark side of the force. The Fonz has jumped the shark.
I know your position won't change, and I cannot change it, nor would I want to. I can live with the fact that you may always think I am slime. Two wrongs do not make a right though. there would be no "conflict" if you used common curtosy. You stirred the pot. I did not cower, or ignore it.
I was big enough to admit my wrongs, are you? Did you look at our other items, feedback? I think you judged me by one listing, and the fact that it was "overproduced", and blah blah. I honestly thought you were trying to lowball me.
I had two copies of this book. The 1st was a gold edition. Worthy of that money. I didn't know Gold issues from regular press. the buyers did though. Give them more credit, This book has been on since October, no one bought it.
I stand by my shipping prices, no matter what you say. I ship Priority, not Media Mail (comics do not fit media mail standards, plus you don't want a book to be in a truck with heavy cans of film). If you are too cheap to pay for quality shipping, I don't want sob stories when it gets there ruined. After 3 years, I do consider myself an excellent shipper.
I hate people who sell something for a buck, then charge $10.00 shipping, just to send it first class. this is to avoid fees. Believe me, we pay pleanty of fees!
I will not buy something if the shipping is too high. Even if someone had the Whole Force Five Anime Series, but wanted to much to ship, I'd even pass on that! To me, that is my passion. Just like you love Valiant books.
I think we will have to agree to disagree. If you are trying to get me to go off again, I don't think it will happen. I found that most of you all are pretty cool.
