i'm reading 1602 (vol 1) right now-i expected more to be honest. it's overly wordy imo. i had pretty high expectations though-so i guess it's easy to be let down.

I am at #4. I like it.
I can't say that I recall ever reading even a moderately bad review from you. Is there any comic you've read that you didn't care for?

Oh, I think I'm changing my mind on Top 10 and I only just finished #2. It focused on fewer characters which I like. I'll post again after I get through the last issue I have which is #5.
Elveen wrote:I liked SLoDM. I thought it was a bit different. Some issues were kinda dumb,

I also like the idea and concept of Hard Corps. The end was terrible,

I was not interested in Psi-Lords (but, again, the concept is good - Hard Corps in the future)
Elveen wrote: I actually just finished Squad Sup. TPB last night. It was just ok for me.
Elveen wrote:I also got a few other books with the JLA/planetary lot, a JLA books called, American Dreams. Um..... it is ok so far, but ........ I am looking forward to starting something new. :?
Elveen wrote: I started on Batman: Run, Riddler, Run. So far...... mas or menos.

Elveen wrote:I also read Ghost/Batgirl TPB, it was ok. My least fav. Ghost story I have read.
Elveen wrote:It is better then the X-O junk at the end, and hard Corps, and any issue of Psi-lords that I have read.

:?

I guess I am easy to please. but also remember... I have really only started reading comics the last few years.... so when you spend time reading: Sandman, DKR, Astro City, Killing Joke, Fables, Marvels, BatsY1, Kingdom Come, and things like that...... kinda hard to find fault.

As for Top 10..... told you so.... (actually Jay T told me about it.....) But really, Top 10 is good.

I finished reading Top Ten 1 - 5 which are the only issues I have. The first issue involved too many caracters for me. It did get better after that though and it was a fairly enjoyable book. The whole superhero world was pretty neat, but I prefer more character development. To that end, Astro City is far superior. The little things in the background were neat though.

I'll be on the lookout for cheapo copies of 6 - 12.

Next up will be Capt. Britain and MI 13 #1 - 4, Scalped #1 - 11 and Omega the Unknown #1 - 4.

About time.

All the Cap Britain stuff since they bumped him MArvel Uk to US has been bland at best.

Some Excaliburs were ok, but nothing like what i was hoping for.

I have some of the new series, but have yet to start reading them.

I havent hear a bad thing about them though to be fair so im keeping my fingers crossed.

It doesn't hurt that two of my favorite characters are in this book (CB and Black Knight), but bias aside, even if I wasn't a fan of those two, I'd still like this book. It really has been fantastic.

I only have one minor gripe about the Black Knight but I won't say anything until after you've read them.

Oh, and they better bring Meggan back soon too!!

BTW Draco, did you order the CB Omnibus? If you did, which cover did you get? I bought the cover that featured his classic costume, although I love the other cover as well.

All sounds good dude, as for TPB.s Omnibus etc, i always wait for six months to a year and get them at a third cost as they are normally 99% reprints of stuff i have owned or already own.

As for covers we not only have the options, but there is also a cheaper Panini/Marvel Uk version too.

As Panini got all the European reprint rights they do some really good deals on Tpbs.
Im unconvinced as to the quality of the binding still, but the savings for the same item are staggering.

Civil war was £18.95 for MArvel US or £10.99 for Panini/Marvel UK.

Nice.

I usually do too except when DCBS has them for a great price. And I was able to get the CB Omnibus from them for $59.99

I already have those issues too, but I wanted to get this Omni because they're all collected in one book, so I don't have to pull them all out individually anymore and it's easy to get to on my bookshelf (or will be once it arrives). :)

For a long time my library didn't have any comic book tpbs. So I went in one day and asked to speak to the guy who did the ordering and politely asked him if he could order some newer comic book tpbs because there wasn't hardly anything comic related in the whole library.

He asked for suggestions, so I jotted down some books, and he said he would try and get them in a few months.

To my delight (and my son's), they got a TON of stuff in over the last year or so. They now have everything I suggested PLUS a lot more. They got so much new stuff in that they had to put everything in a new section.

It's been a while since I asked for anything, so I'm going to ask him if he can get some of the new stuff like "Sinestro War HC", "Iron Fist", "CB: MI13", "DD". That kind of stuff.

Wow, that was fast! I e-mailed the guy at the library with this list of books for possible order:

Green Lantern: The Sinestro War Hardcover
Green Lantern: Tales of the Sinestro Corps Hardcover
Daredevil: Hell to Pay vol. 1, vol. 2
Daredevil: The Devil, Inside and Out vol. 1, vol. 2
Immortal Iron Fist vol.1 : The Last Iron Fist Story
Immortal Iron Fist vol. 2: The Seven Capital Cities of Heaven
Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes Hardcover

He just replied back to me:

Mike:

I put an order in for the whole set with our jobber. Including Immortal Iron Fist 4 due out in April 09 and Immortal Iron Fist 3 due this week. Others will come in on an as available basis from the jobber. They may trickle in over several months as we have a policy of keeping an order open for 6 months before it is canceled. I have put your email address on the order for the technical services staff.

Thanks,

Dan

Is that cool or what?! What a super nice guy! Can't wait for those books to come in so my son can read them. :D

I've been digging the new Deadpool series, too! The art's great but, I'm hoping the story gets a bit better. I guess I'm spoiled by Joe Kelly's version ...

I just finished Fables: 1001 Nights of Snowfall and I loved. It had background stories for a lot of the characters that I wanted to know about, Snow, Bigby, Frau Totenkimer, and Flycatcher. Overall an A+ story, to me the best TPB (HC) of Fables I have read. I loved the art.

I know some didn't think Snow looked "correct" in the story that Bolton illustrated, but I found the Snow/7 Dwarves story to be wonderful and Snow has never looked so otherworldly as in that story.
