I actually just finished Squad Sup. TPB last night. It was just ok for me.BloodOfHeroes wrote:you can't go wrong with any of those titles, IMO. I think I am going to finish what I started with the Way of the Rat books. Then we'll see what is next.
What I REALLY want to get to is Moore's Supreme run, but I am about 5-7 (I think)m books short.

I read it recently, as well ... and wasn't as impressed with it as I thought I would be. However, Gruenwald's Quasar was a pretty great series (especially the first two years' worth)Elveen wrote:I actually just finished Squad Sup. TPB last night. It was just ok for me.
PS I've got some of those Supreme issues. PM me and let me know which ones you need.

Daredevil - I just read the latest issue. I'm amazed at how many terrible things they can think up to put poor Matt Murdock through. Whenever I think they can't top what the writers did earlier in the series, they blow me away again. Poor Matty. DD continues to be a winna winna chicken dinna every month.
Batman The Man Who Laughs Hardcover - This collects the Man Who Laughs and a few older Detective issues by Brubaker. I picked it up because I've heard rave reviews on it and I tend to like Brubaker's work. I read through the Man Who Laughs. It was an ok Joker story, but nothing great. I still have to read through the Detective issues, but I doubt they are going to be good enough for me to say this book is worth the $20 retail on it.
Silver Surfer: Requiem - 4 issue Mini by Strazynski and Ribic from 2007. I bought the first issue of this and really liked it, but didn't pick up 2 - 4 because they were $4 each. I finally got around to picking up 2 - 4 for $1 each or less.
This is a great Silver Surfer story with beautiful art throughout. If you can find it cheap, it's a complete story about the SS's last days.
Spoilers **************** The Surfer is going to die in a month. The first 2 issues, he goes around and visits other heroes in the MU including the FF and Spidey. Issue 3, he gets a quick visit from Dr. Strange and then he saves 2 alien worlds at once. The finaly issue, he returns to Zenn-La and Galactus comes back.

I finished this. I'm not real sure why it was collected in a hardcover. It's ok, but not really a great Batman story. The GL team up was ok. This book is not really worth the money if anyone was borderline on buying it.400yrs wrote: Batman The Man Who Laughs Hardcover - This collects the Man Who Laughs and a few older Detective issues by Brubaker.
Groo 25th Anniversary Special - This came out in mid 2007 and I put off reading it because I had plenty of continuous series to keep up on. This book was awesome. Plenty of morals in this one (greed, corruption, etc.) and even a baby Groo story.
Top 10 - I picked up the first few issues of this because it's AM stuff. I read #1 which took a while and I'm working my way through #2. I tend to not care for books like this. I don't like being introduced to 500 character names and 100 character costumes in the first issue. I can understand how people like it, but I'd take Astro City any day over this book so far. I think I have through issue #4 so maybe my opinion will change by then. Doubt it.

4 Hun, I really, really like Top 10. As a completed story, both volumes are VERY good. One thing I really, really liked is all the hidden "characters" that Gene Ha placed in the background of the book.400yrs wrote:I finished this. I'm not real sure why it was collected in a hardcover. Also try and find the Smax 4 issue mini, super witty and clever.

I have been on the hunt. But most of the books I have I got from a friend for mine.

I just picked up my sub...about a years worth of stuff: AMS, Avengers (Initiative, Mighty and New), Batman and Tec, Cap, DD, Iron Fist, Superman/Batman, The Programme, Umbrella Academy...A lot of reading and catching up to do to say the least (oh and Secret Invasion as well)
Don't quite understand what happened to the Incredible Hulk / Hercules title post WWHulk. It has been renamed and a new Hulk title is out...Have not decided if I will pick these up...any comments??
And my A&A and X-O HC were waiting for me as well

Golly #1 and #2 (Image) - This is a damn interesting story so far. It's written by Phil Hester from Daydreams' neck of the woods. I don't think I've heard of the artist before, but the art is extremely clean for a just-starting Image title. If this artist isn't a regular in the comic world, he/she should be (maybe it's Hester under a pen name... I don't know).
Here's the concept of the book: Golly is a carnie. He works with a traveling carnival with all sorts of (un)usual carnie folk. One night, Golly is charged by a higher entity to rid the world of evil.
It has carnies, good vs. evil and some foul language. What's not to love? It's up to #3 (which I don't have yet) and seems to come out bimonthly or so. It's going on my sub.

I can't say that I recall ever reading even a moderately bad review from you. Is there any comic you've read that you didn't care for?Elveen wrote:dave wrote:i'm reading 1602 (vol 1) right now-i expected more to be honest. it's overly wordy imo. i had pretty high expectations though-so i guess it's easy to be let down.Elveen wrote:1602 #2 starting.... now.
I am at #4. I like it.

Oh, I think I'm changing my mind on Top 10 and I only just finished #2. It focused on fewer characters which I like. I'll post again after I get through the last issue I have which is #5.
