read in the last 24 hours:
Archer and Armstrong hardcover (well, at least the new stuff, I only skimmed the reprints to check out the new coloring)
Batman: Cacophony #1. I gave this one a shot because it caught my interest when I was reading an interview with Kevin Smith in the newest issue of Wizard. It's pretty good, not sure if I'm going to get the remaining issues, and with a Kevin Smith book, there's no guarantee the remaining issues will ever come out.
Superman & Batman vs. Vampires & Werewolves #3: really enjoying this series. I like the fact that Kevin Van Hook picks up all the little details when he is telling a story, which a lot of writers don't always do.
Back to Brooklyn #2: mob story by Garth Ennis and Jimmy Palmiotti. So far, so good, lots of violence, the artwork is pretty good painted stuff, never heard of the artist before (Mihailo Vukelic).

Is this new or "back issue?" Sounds interesting...caxiotis wrote:has anybody else been reading the Samurai - Legend Limited series published by Marvel? I can hardly put it down. I really great read. It is European comic book translated into english.
The only downfall is that the books are pricey. I spent $6 yesterday for book #3. #1 and #2 were $5 each.

I read all three issues this week, as well. What a great job he does, not just with the action, but with the characterizations--he really nails all the guest stars and makes them all unique. Can't wait to see him handle the Demon's iambic pentameter, next issue.Brother J wrote:Superman & Batman vs. Vampires & Werewolves #3: really enjoying this series. This had BETTER get the TPB treatment!

Cool - I am ashamed of myself to say it (considering my past exclamations on the subject) but I will wait and see if a TPB is printed to check it out. If not, then maybe I'll have to go a-hunting.

I just finished Secret Wars TPB. It is the first time I read it.
It was pretty cool. I can see why it was such a big deal back in the day. I can for sure see Shooter's style in it, even if I did not know he wrote it.
Over all, to me it was not great, but good, maybe even very good. For a good deal of the characters, it is my first exposure to them, so that was cool.
One quick question, What is Rogue's power?

Last I saw her, she was totally powerless, but not a b!tch you'd want to get into a fight with (as long as you were "normal" too.)Jay Tomio wrote:Depends on when you see her. Her secondary powers are essentially that of Ms. Marvel's. Basically Turbo Strength, constitution, some amount of invulnerability and flight. She gained these via her mutant power.
As befits bad writing she has lost her powers on occasion.
Please note that I don't read X-Men anymore if the standard quo changed, or if she's permanently sucked somebody else's power up now I don't know.

About a year ago she was able to access ANY powers she had previously temporarily absorbed. She was uber powerful. But then a few months ago she lost them all as well as all the different personalities swirling in her head. So she now has her basic Ms. Marvel powers again with the ability to absorb other's powers.slym2none wrote:Last I saw her, she was totally powerless, but not a b!tch you'd want to get into a fight with (as long as you were "normal" too.)Jay Tomio wrote:Depends on when you see her. Rogue's about to pop back up in X-Men Legacy (formerly [adjectiveless] X-Men, New X-Men and X-Men vol. 2) after nearly a year of absence.
Leading up to her disappearance, she had her main mutant power back and had absorbed Sunspot's powers (but I think he survived the issue), so she could still fly but had some sort of trail behind her. I think she was stronger than the average woman again but am not sure if she still had Carol Danver's super strength and durability. She put herself in mortal danger absorbing something like 8 million psyches from some weapon from space and was dying. Somehow someone laid a whammy on her and cleaned her out, where she was alone with herself again and then she ended up absorbing Mystique's psyche (Mystique survived the experience) and Rogue took off on her own.
Rogue did have a brief cameo a couple of months ago and was yelling at a manifestation of Mystique's psyche from her own mind. She's not happy with the situation.

Or, you could watch the Roomba we just got, same basic thing. Wandering around without any real direction and sucking. And bumping into things, backing up and bumping into things again.slym2none wrote:I keed! I keed!!!

At $162 after tax, the Roomba costs about as much as a year's worth of Uncanny X-Men, X-Men Legacy, X-Force, Wolverine and 4 Wolverine one-shots and is more entertaining. At least I'm not done with it after 5 minutes and I don't have to be mad at myself because I'll buy another one next month.

Picked up Spawn 185 and 186 which is the first 2 parts of the Endgame story.
I haven't read a Spawn book since the early teen issues, but I wanted to give this new direction a try. It's supposed to be a good jumping on point for new readers and it does seem to be so.
185 is a quick read because the first several pages are mainly very nicely done illustrations. The books are beautifully drawn throughout by Portacio. The story seems interesting through the first 2 issues. I like it a lot more that Batman RIP.
I'll stick with the book for a few more issues to see where it goes.

Did you tell me about SS also. You will always get mad props for the Top 10 rec.
I might just have to buy the new Top 10 books.
I'll for sure have Zander sign them at SDCC next summer. We talked a few times. He showed me the layouts for the upcoming books.
I hope Ha can get close to Moore.
