Re: What comics are you reading now?
Anybody read Wasteland? I'm digging Umbral (by the same creative team) and they just recently announced they're going to finish the story out to #60 soon, so I thought I might dive in.
I literally know nothing about it, though, other than the creative team.

Besides the whole VEI line, I'm only getting Batman and Detective comics as monthlies. Still collecting TWD, Usagi and TMNT trades.
I've been tempted to try East of West, since it seems right up my alley.

Bought mine today and added the series to my pullbox. I'm in love with this book. Absolutely worth the hype and then some- by page 5 of the 1st issue I was hooked.jeremycoe wrote:I just finished the first EoW trade and enjoyed it.
Off to ebay to chase some back issues.

I keep hearing about these Rangers dudes that are apparently da shizznizz!
I still hope that it might appear on my LCS tomorrow (I asked them to get me as much EoW as they could, in terms of Back issues, although that hope is little to be true), but *SQUEE* it- I'm buying it on Comixology tonight and will start reading the 2nd arc asap. Won' trade wait for this.
It's that good - and may I say Instant classic? This is one of those comics you instantly get immersed in it.
Yup, I also recommend this series!

Planetary often rivals Grendel as my all time favourite comic series. Absolutely brilliant writing, love John Cassadays artwork. Supremely inspiring stuff.

It's a great book. Best thing about it is how much story there is - not as decompressed as most current books. Art is great. Lots of interesting characters.
My only complaint is I wanted more of the 1920s storyline - I hope it is revisited in a flashback (I get the feeling there will be). Again, like Lazarus, I'll probably read this in trades (or more likely when Image has another digital sale).![]()

I finished the first two volumes of Swamp Thing last week. So good. Loved the horrific Anton Arcane storyline. Must. get. the rest.grendeljd wrote:I can tell already. Moore is an unbelievable juggernaut of creative, intelligent imagination. My wife just got me the 'Saga of' trades, vol.1 & 2 for Xmas, and I've been loving them so far - just read through the first story line with Wood-Rue tonight. Awesome stuff, as I expected. Seriously should have read these ages ago.
Interestingly, I can also see seeds of inspiration for Gaiman's first storyline of Sandman coming from this.

Re: What comics are you reading now?
This week was a big Image week for me, I picked up
East Of West #9 - just an amazing comic, my top favourite right now.
Invincible #108 - a very entertaining turn of events.
Revival #17 - haven't read it yet. Oddly, I usually don't get excited to read this title as it comes out, but I always dig it when I do read it.
Saga #18 - this story arc has lost some lustre for me, but a pretty entertaining finale issue.
and from IDW; Transformers: Regeneration 1 #98 - good clean vintage Transformers fun

Thor God of Thunder #18 - a very fun one off story with a young Thor and a drunk dragon. this book is so great. the new arc starts in #19 and it's Thor on Earth and apparently he's going to battle Old Galactus. And Esad Ribic is drawing it
Saga #18 - still a very good book, this third arc definitely not as good as the first two
also read through a bunch of 93/94 Spider-Man and a couple of the Venom mini-series. The only entertaining thing in those Venom comics is Eddie Brock's mullet. it's really something special.

Re: What comics are you reading now?
Started on Avengers World - read #1 and #2. Hickman and Nick Spencer. It's really just an extension of the Avengers title, but pretty cool story so far. It's kinda funny, as I thought Avengers and New Avengers were shaping up to have a big climax in Infinity, but that "event" (although I enjoyed it) really just slowed the awesome story weaving throughout the Hickman Avengers books which is still just building bigger and bigger. This title just adds some more story beats to that awesome story. It's still at the "what the hell is going on" point, but I haven't read a single issue that wasn't great.
I'm also really enjoying the Guardians of the Galaxy. Just read #11, and it begins the tie-in with All New X-Men "The Trial of Jean Grey". This book is so much fun. Don't read it if you're looking for a deep, meaningful storyline with lots of subtext and complex characters, but if you're looking for an enjoyable, hilarious, fun read (with beautiful art by Sara Pichelli) then you should check this out.
Gonna read Revival next.

In the middle of the second Planetary TPB, this book is all around good. Some issues are not as good as others, bit for example, the 1st issue with Ambrose Chase is about as a good a single issue of a comic can be. Amazing!
