I think I said earlier somewhere that while both Transmet and Preacher are both interesting, I wouldn't think they were elveen's "cup of tea."Lightning Strike wrote:I don't think you'd like itElveen wrote:What about Transmetropolitan?![]()

Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

Very different than anything I have ever read.
The story focused on the characters as much as the action/drama. Grell was able to get so much emotion into the writing and even more into the art.
You are able to get into the minds and thoughts of Green Arrow.
I would give it a solid A. A different kind of read, but very enjoyable.

So based on feedback in another thread, I picked up the following JSA TPB's: Return of Hawkman, Savage Times, and Black Reign. They were all excellent and I have already re-read two of them and can easily see my self re-reading them again! Geoff Johns was brilliant in his writing of these characters!

It tails off a little after #20, but those first 20 issues were great.Lightning Strike wrote:I'm remember that series. I just started reading Y: The Last Man and it is awesome. I got through the first two TPB's and I am hooked. I love the comedy, but I love even more that he kinda has a finance. Everytime he says that it cracks me up. This kinda story is why I read comics. To find something that sucks me in and is a great story.

Loved that series all the way through, incuding the finale prestige format series Electric Undertow, with art by Bagley.J-Scott-R wrote:It's kind of a oldie but I have just read the first 12 issues of Strikeforce Morituri from Marvel in the late 80's and this book is great, if you ever get a chance to read this, I highly recommend it.![]()

I found 1-31, and Electric Undertow 2-5 in the cheap boxes at my local store last week in great condition and couldn't pass them up.Draco wrote:Loved that series all the way through, incuding the finale prestige format series Electric Undertow, with art by Bagley.J-Scott-R wrote:It's kind of a oldie but I have just read the first 12 issues of Strikeforce Morituri from Marvel in the late 80's and this book is great, if you ever get a chance to read this, I highly recommend it.![]()

Man, if you haven't read Fables, I would highly recommend it, it is easily one of the best books out there and the TPB's aren't hard to find, a great read.caxiotis wrote:Has anybody read the Northlanders series? I was thinking about picking it up, wasn't sure if it was anygood. Also, 100 Bullets and Fables.

Just dropped New Avengers.Tim wrote:I dropped everything except Flash, Punisher: War Journal, New Avengers, Superman, Action Comics and Youngblood.
Marvel is a big "yawn" for me right now. I dropped Secret Invasion mid-run and that was a first for me. We'll see how Rick Remender takes over from Fraction on Punisher : War Journal as to whether that one bites the dust as well.
The only reason I'm still getting Flash is that I've been reading that title for 20 years and at some point it's bound to get better. I hope.
The Superman titles are still kicking *SQUEE*, though. And Youngblood is still a fun, lighthearted read.
Pretty soon I'll be spending more for DCBS' shipping than I save with the discount.
