THEY'RE CANCELLING NINJAK?!?!

Thank goodness. Purple uni-d Brits are pansies.
It was the Video Game playing pre teen version of Ninjak...

Interesting that the next title will not be Eternal Warrior as most have assumed based on previews. If it ends up being a title that hasn't been teased, I'm going with Shadowman also.

Only bigger surprise for fans would be if, despite comments reiterated at the panel, there is a secret agreement in place to secure the rights to Magnus. I still wonder how Rai will play in the new universe without Magnus.

VERY COOL of Valiant to give the first gold books to fans at the panel. Sure, big retailers may have a way to get them, but some fans have them first! :thumb:
I'm disappointed that several hours after the panel not a single X-O gold is up on eBay. C'mon, people! :P

I want one as well. Gonna write a great a letter to attempt to snag one.

Just curious about the Harbinger announcement regarding the 'team' of renegades. I was under the impression from Valiant's advertising to date that Faith at least is showing up in #4... so was it a slip-up to say Faith, Torque & Flamingo are all making their first appearance in #5? :?

There's no super secret info, the VEI guys have just asked that when they tell you something, that we be discreet, that's all. If Dinesh or Warren happen to tell you something in private, or show you something on their Ipads, they're not giving secrets, they are asking "what do you think?". They are always looking for feedback or validation of a new idea so as to maybe tweak things a little to make them better. One of the nice things about Warren is that he is open to new ideas and doesn't have that "smartest guy in the room" attitude. Dinesh is very much the same and I think that's where these interactions come from.

There's no reason for anyone here to feel slighted or left out, because that is/was never any intention of that by the VEI guys in my opinion. I really don't remember any groundbreaking news announced at the Poker Game that any of you guys couldn't figure out on your own as the natural progression of these characters and titles, but I was not paying attention all that much as I was trying to keep up with Fred and Warren in the Poker Game. Eventually though, they wore me down!
I am selling "nothing" on ebay-yet.

Well said. It was almost always "hey take a look at this and tell me what you think".

Very open.

It is never, "hey look at this secret thing". But I will also say, that some of us have had the opportunity to build cool friendships with these guys. But it is NOT an exclusive thing, it is inclusive. The VEI dudes TRUELY appreciate, value, rely on, enjoy talking and spending time with Valiant fans, talking Valiant Comics (and other things)

And yes I DO love the iPad of Pleasure and the phone of presents.

It is really cool that the VEI guys are open to feedback and that many of you have relationships with the guys, so that you are told things in confidence.

Some of you handle that with class and keep quiet about those things that are said in confidence, rather than bait people into juvenile guessing games. Others not so much.
What we need is innovation and even revolution—but not so much in the form of marketing ploys and doohickeys. What is needed is bold creative vision, excellent stories, and brilliant storytelling, in a word, entertainment. -- Jim Shooter

Love that new X-O/Ninjak promo. I always did think the cover to Ninjak #5 was sweet! Reminds me of the one piece of Valiant art I own. :thumb:

If it's an original character, could it be Darpan. There seems to be a lot of talk about him and wasn't something said about, why couldn't a 10 year old boy carry a book?

My only beef about the cover is that Aric's face looks like it's a photo that's been poorly photoshopped into the helmet.... other than that, NICE!

I like playing guessing games :D it keeps things interesting leading up to announcements.

Honestly, if someone didn't hint that EW may not be the next book, when the time rolled around for the official announcement and it wasn't EW, I'd be like what the *SQUEE*!?! All the teases and now this ?!? Now I actually have some time to let that sink in and not succumb to fanboy craziness when the time comes.

Besides, I am still holding out hope for that Birthquake ongoing

Ok was at work and did not link the article the last bit I extracted below (http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page ... e&id=39795)
After the panel concluded, Valiant exclusively told CBR the return of their Gold Logo Program. Valiant's Founder and Chief Creative Officer, Dinesh Shamdasani explained, "There is a long history at Valiant of passionate fans and the company embracing, rewarding and enabling that passion to create a sense of equity.

"The Gold Book embodies this in a way nothing else can. We do this for the fans -- for being our secret weapon, our fifth Beatle," Shamdasani said. At the end of the Valiant panel at Comic-Con, Shamdasani debuted their first new Gold Book in "X-O Manowar" #1 and passed a free copy off to every person in attendance.

Each of the new Valiant #1's has a Gold Book edition on the way which can be won by fans. Shamdasani described how far fans used to go in the 90s to obtain these Gold Books -- or Gold Logos as they were called back then. "Fans would take a photo of themselves promoting Valiant -- a themed wedding, mowing the logo in your neighbor's lawn, dressing your baby as Magnus." He added to the list a man who created Valiant web icons back when the internet was still in its youth, and a church replacing a Bible verse on their board with the phrase "Read Valiant Comics." "If you showed up at a convention dressed as a Valiant character, you'd get a Gold Logo. They were crazy," Shamdasani said. In the 90s a photo would be featured in the back of Valiant's monthly issues, but there were 30-40 winners at a time.

"It's a way to have fun, to embrace the universe and help it grow," Shamdasani said. "To feel a part of it. It's really no different than what Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko and those guys did at Marvel in the 60s -- embrace the fan. Make fandom a part of creating this universe so we can all do it together.

"We're re-instituting the program of 'you support us, we reward you,'" he continued. "Send us a photo of you going out of your way supporting Valiant and you'll get a Gold Book." Beginning next week, Valiant is working with The Wounded Warrior Foundation charity, auctioning off Gold Books

I'm sincerely surprised it won't be EW, after the advertising in the FCBD book. Of course, VEI is free to change their minds if they have a better idea, right?

Of course, there could be a campaign of misdirection happening here on the boards :P

If not, I'm hoping for Shadowman and that we hear the news verrrry soon. :hope:
