i was thinking about this as well. i think we should find a charity or some type of scholarship fund to donate to in trent's name. i guess the questions is, if we retire #37 on all future projects (which i totally agree with), does that mean a #37 wouldn't be produced, or that #37 would be designated for a worthy cause? i would like to think trent would want us to continue the tradition of the vfvss projects and continue to help out those in need. it's not an important idea right now, just something we as a community should think about down the road. i think it would be a great way to honor his memory and all his support of valiant and this board.cjv wrote:Out of curiousity, is there a designated charity or anything that we can make a donation to in honor of Trent? I know when my grandmother died, a lot of people were told to make a donation to Alzheimers research in her honor.

I'm in shock. I've been so busy the past few weeks. I check in on the site, Trent is out of hospital. I check in again, he's back in hospital. and then, this. I still haven't opened the zoom suit package I received from him. This is really sad.
I think it would be a nice way to honour him to make a #37 for future projects and auction it off for a charity each time. Would be a great way to remember him and keep the memory of him alive on this board.

My opinion regarding #37 of future projects..
I believe it would be upto the individuals handling the projects, but perhaps if #37 were set as the auction copy for the charity designated for that project?..
The retiring is a great idea, but it may mess up the numbering system..for example...if we say this is one book of 50, there would really only be 49 books...and so on...

I like the first version, esp. if the donation is made "In remembrance of Trent Collins."Svair wrote:My opinion regarding #37 of future projects..

As for the second one, I was assuming that no 37 would me made and the final number on a 50 book project would be 51?

Either seems reasonable but if a 37 is produced, I'd suggest that not only the charitable donation be in his name but perhaps a card be included with the book with similar regards to his memory.X-O HoboJoe wrote:I like the first version, esp. if the donation is made "In remembrance of Trent Collins."Svair wrote:My opinion regarding #37 of future projects..

wow. That was NOT what I was expecting from the "please read" thread...
I only talked to Trent a few times, but he was always really nice to me, and I enjoyed his additions to the conversations...
Very very sad. My best to his family.

I'd be honored to do an OA backer for each #37 done in this scenario. I'll also be quick to step aside if another art-type wants to do it. IOW, Any incentive to make this go, I'm IN.cjv wrote:IF there is a "designated charity", I like the idea of auctioning off #37 each time to go to that charity. Obviously it would be dependant on the person running the VfVSS (as it always is).

Re: PLEASE READ.....
I missed this thread the first time around. Very sad, but good to see Trent is remembered.
