Where did you pick this up at? On eBay? I've been actively looking for my own copy with not much luck. I bought a apparent NM copy off eBay a couple weeks ago and it looked mint fresh on the front but when I turend it over.... traces of water damage on the back cover. :!:

Mind telling me how much you spent and what condition it was in? PM me if the information is sensitive or just give me the finger if you don't want too reveal anything. :P

I just picked of CKB's slabbed 9.4 to add to the Marvel cosmic collection).

If I could only find a HG Ronan the Damn Accuser first appearance I would be good until December on the cosmic collection!

Well done. That really is a *SQUEE* nice cover. Will go well with the rest of your collection. Especially that Firelord cover!

Came in excellent shape (pic is not actual comic however).

I also got some package from Dark Horse celebrating there birthday that included a cookie :thumb: and a preview book.
I just can't imagine Hal giving up like that or Sinestro saying "buddy".

What I would call a VG condition Strange Tales#111 (Second appearance of Dr. Strange - 1963). I usually aim higher as far as grade, but this was a book I kind of neededn and an affordable one although I admit that it was an impulse bid. Probably will upgrade eventually but for now still very cool reader.
Those early Strange Tales seem to be suspiciously hard to find in decent shape. I've got Masterworks to read them by, but I've been picking up the issues when I see decent buys, and anything before 120 is just tough to land with any eye appeal.

Today I received a book I have coveted, just not in this particular grade, and I essentially just made a throw away bid before I went to sleep not thinking I'd win, but ended up getting a 8.5 slabbed copy of X-Men#50, which has the classic Steranko cover

I'm still looking to upgrade to a 9.2 or so, but I'm not displeased with this purchase which represents the bottom number in GPA.
If you do upgrade, let me know when you decide to sell the 8.5......

Went to the Little Rock mini-con and picked up the following:

1. Essential Vertigo Sandman 1 (for a good read.)
2. Amazing Spiderman 50
3. Amazing Spiderman 121
4. Amazing Spiderman 122
5. Amazing Spiderman 129
6. Amazing Spiderman 194
7. Amazing Spiderman 300
8. The Spectre 1 (from 1967)
9. Tomb of Dracula 10
10. Tomb of Dracula 13
11. X-Men 101

I was really pleased with the con. I got to see Hobo, Greg, & Steverino & got the chance to dig through a bunch of boxes of comics. :D

I bought my first war book, this is a Bronze Our Fighting Forces#144 featuring a Joe Kubert cover that caught my eye, described as a 9.4 and arrived as (which is strange in itself).

I also decided to buy a group of McSpideys that are around 9.4's (from Mcfarlane's Amazing Spidey run). I already had them, but he price was solid and once you get passed all the McFarlane haters this is really one of the better continuous runs of cover art one can find. It's not making people forget about Wrightson on the first dozen issues of Swamp Thing, or the bronze Neal Adams GL work etc - but you can't hate on great.
Mmmmm...I buy McFarlane Amazings for $1-$3 each in NM whenever I can.....yummy goodness!

Don't mind at all slym. :) I'll list prices I paid for all.

1. Essential Vertigo Sandman 1 (for a good read.) $1
2. Amazing Spiderman 50 $40
3. Amazing Spiderman 121 $60
4. Amazing Spiderman 122 $70 (took $10 off his asking price of $80)
5. Amazing Spiderman 129 $39
6. Amazing Spiderman 194 $12
7. Amazing Spiderman 300 $20
8. The Spectre 1 (from 1967) $15
9. Tomb of Dracula 10 $9 (A terrific looking book Prob. a 9.4)
10. Tomb of Dracula 13 $10 (Strange it was higher than the 10!)
11. X-Men 101 $17

$293 total

Like I said, I was pleased with the conditions of the books. When I took them out of their 20 year old bags, they looked better than I had thought they would. Using the overstreet grading system & also comparing it to some of the few cgc books I have, I figure the 101 would be around a 9.2 . Its not as nice as the two 9.4 comics I compared it with, but better than the 9.0 . And true, they were not the same issue, but condition is condition, so the grade should be pretty accurate.

I was at the flea market today and picked up a 9 cent Fantastic Four and my first Cross-Gen comic, a 64 page Sojourn comic.

Out $2 for the outing and finally found another comics enthusiast here in town. Should be able to move some of my doubles now.

Wish you could have made it! There were a lot more tables set up this time (the most I've seen there yet), with plenty of great books for everyone. I'm already looking forward to the next con.

Last month I snagged Amazing Spider-Man #51-150 (2 copies of #129), Annuals 1-7, and Giant-Size #1-5 for $2500. I thought that the run average around VF/VF+ in condition, but I just received the first 8 that I sent into CGC for grading and I think the overall grade is a bit better:

#71 - 9.4 (OW/W pages)
#82 - 9.2 (OW/W pages)
#108 - 9.6 (OW/W pages)
#111 - 9.4 (W pages)
#119 - 9.6 (W pages)
#129 - 9.0 (W pages) - this was the lower grade copy
#136 - 9.4 (OW/W pages)
#137 - 9.4 (OW/W pages)

The second group of books (inlcuding the higher grade #129) will be submitted next week.

Cheers,
Skiw

I finally got my Diamond Unity Volume 2! :D

Also, Strange Tales #97 in VG. It looks better, but has a tear in the front cover that isn't noticible (at all) in the bag. Smokehouse Five TPB by Sergio Aragones, it's firefighter jokes throughout. :cloud9: Captain America #332 CGC 9.8--it's not a truly special book, but I've loved the cover since it was new and wanted a 9.8 copy. And Web of Spider-Man #1 CGC 9.8...... :cloud9:

I'm still envious of that Showcase #1 you have. I'd love to have an old beater copy of that book (if I could afford it!)
