Hey, now, it's not so old a topic to me, since they are talking about a new Valiant coming out.
Bottom line for me is that the pre-Unity and Unity stories, the Jim Shooter stuff, was awesome, and the rest was...well...tepid at best.
Good point about trying to reprint pre-Unity and Unity in flipbook format costing a new company too much. That's too bad, because I do think it'd be cool. Of course, they wouldn't have to pay artists and writers for it, though. But I guess the extra paper costs would be prohibitive. That's too bad, because new readers won't get to experience what made Valiant so awesome at its peak of storytelling power.
Also a good point about those stories being written specifically in 1991/1992. Boy, at the time I thought that was so cool; now I really, really wish they hadn't done that. Heck, though, I'd just change all the dates and do it again, though I know ManoftheAtom isn't hip to the idea.
But anyway, it's not my decision, and since they won't have rights to Magnus, Solar, and Turok anymore, I guess the point is moot. I guess they'd just have to do a reboot.
Still, I find a "Unity Aftermath" storyline appealing...after all, didn't Geoff say in Rai 0 that Unity had messed up the timeline, and it was up to the Geomancers to set it straight? That's the beginning of a good tale right there, I think.

ManofTheAtom wrote:So original VALIANT did the Darque Brew and Armstrong Ale thing. What could the new VALIANT do that be comporable to that?
Maybe have Pepsi or Coke produce a VALIANT-related softdrink? If so, who would it be based on?
Have Nike produce Turok moccasins?
A Timewalker watch?
Some of those do depend on licensing, but what could New VALIANT do on their own like Old VALIANT did the beer and ale things?
Nike Rai Force 1's.... That would be a great limited AF1....
Started at the genesis - had to come back
