Batman #13. A bit predictable, but really, really good. I don't get the need for the die-cut cover, but it was a nice meaty read of 32 story pages for $3.99.

I'd agree it was predictible but thats setting up the twist imo. I LOVED all of the past Joker references (old crimes, tv takeovers, puppets, 'like a crowbar to a small bird' paraphrased). The backup was also freaky/creepy as can be.400yrs wrote:Batman #13. A bit predictable, but really, really good. Ugh. The Joker is ridiculous. How can someone like him even irritate Batman, let alone constantly harrow him with ease? It's pitiful. Now Dr Doom or Thanos? Re: What comics are you reading now?
I LOVED Batman 13. The opening scene in the GCPD was one of the scariest Joker scenes I have ever read. And I've read a looooooot of Batman stories. The dialogue and the visuals were scary, not to mention all those "cracks". In Snypullo I trust.
On topic: I just started reading The Walking Dead this week (I'm on book 10 as of now).
at myself for not reading this earlier. It's that good and deserves all the hype and success it has.
The "No One Is Safe" arc was one of the most shocking stories I have read. If you read it, you know what I mean.

Yeah, but he talks all quiet and spooky like Batman.
I agree about the Joker being the best villain ever, but Batman on the other hand is much lamer than everyone thinks. If being a super hero is the best way for a billionaire to help the world, then that billionaire is pretty dumb and can lick my nuts. Dick Grayson was a much better Batman.

Ok the Joker has been around a LONG time, and he killed Jason Todd (For all the good that did) But did he really ever hurt Batman like BANE did? I'd rather see a new incarnation of Bane than joker.

Bane always reminded me of a hairy gerbil for some reason. What's up with all the back hair on a bad guy?

Yeah I see Batman the same way I see the Flash, their personalities aren't as important as the rogue's gallery and they both have awesome enemies.400yrs wrote:ian_house wrote:

Thanos started out as more of a Metron ripoff than a Darkseid ripoff. He has grown into something even more than either, though.ian_house wrote:Oh no he has sparkly gems, flies a helicopter and rips off Darkseid... run!Lightning Strike wrote:Ugh. Re: What comics are you reading now?
I would say Megatron is the greatest villain in comics, but only when he's not around, because then becomes more like a scary myth or legend. When he's around he's usually just a standard 'world/universe wanna be conquer" whose plans suck. I do love the back story that IDW has been trying to use (with mixed results in regards to their continuity) to explain his past, reasons, motivations, ideology, and how he would rule if he ever got the chance.
Know this: I would rather be hated for being honest for my opinions, than being loved as a liar!

I'm enjoying the new Hawkeye book. Kind of a "sarcastic 007" vibe to it. The relationship and banter between Clint and Kate Bishop is fun, too.
What we need is innovation and even revolution—but not so much in the form of marketing ploys and doohickeys. What is needed is bold creative vision, excellent stories, and brilliant storytelling, in a word, entertainment. -- Jim Shooter

Re: What comics are you reading now?
I'm finally nearing the 50th and final issue of Ms. Tree. It's one of the most memorable runs of comics I've ever read, and I highly recommend it to Hard Boiled Detective fans, or fans of strong female leads. Toward the end they started reprinting Johnny Dynamite stories, circa the 50s, which I really enjoyed as well.
The letters page is like none other I've ever seen, and is often almost worth the price of admission itself.

I've been reading the first few issues of Incredible Hercules. It's good stuff. From reading this, I can see why they picked Van Lente for A&A. His Spider-Man stuff was ok to good, but this is better.

The Walking Dead 103. This issue was quite enjoyable as it was a page turner. Be on the lookout for the awesome Chris Giarusso #1 cover-swipe cover. It's a variant, but I don't know the info on it. 5/5.

Hawkeye #3. Another excellent issue. The cover by Aja is brilliant! Another awesome one and done story with some really cool story telling mechanisms and a few laugh out loud moments. 5/5 and my pick of the week.

I always enjoyed the early issues of this series. I never got around to reading the entire series.StarBrand wrote:I'm finally nearing the 50th and final issue of Ms. Tree. Re: What comics are you reading now?
I read the early issues when they came out. Now, all these years later I reread them, and when a complete run came up on eBay for about a buck an issue I snagged it. It was well worth it.bosco685 wrote:I always enjoyed the early issues of this series. I now have only three issues to go, though I intend to spend some time on some of the letters pages I skipped. Those are some serious letters pages. Max Allen Collins said he spent one whole day a month just answering them.

Re: What comics are you reading now?
I think Ms. Tree started in Eclipse Magazine, which can be very tough to track down in any decent condition. I still have my set, which now you gave me motivation to go back and re-read them.
Re: What comics are you reading now?
Yes. Unfortunately, I don't have the Eclipse issues. DC also published some Ms. Tree books. Not sure I will check them out eventually or not.bosco685 wrote:I think Ms. Tree started in Eclipse Magazine, which can be very tough to track down in any decent condition.
