So I finished Fables TPB#10. Super great, even without my fav. characters in it much.

Fables TBP#10 is great, besides the wonderful clever storytelling, character development, beautiful art...... #10 was a great story arc, while really setting up the next story arc.

I can't wait for #11.

I also read Ghost/Batgirl TPB, it was ok. My least fav. Ghost story I have read.

I also read a few Conan trades. One was the Book of Toth; it was really good. Kinda funny, cause Conan was not even in it. But really a great read. Then I read the Dark Horse reprints on the Thomas & BWS Conan TPB #1. WOW.

Really well writen. I have decided that I will need to get all of these trades.

Conan is cool.

What is Crossed about and who puts it out?

Here is what I've read lately from best to worst. I'm noticing that I'm not liking, not even collecting as many DCs as I used to. In fact, I'm now reading more Image books than DC.

:thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: out of 5 Group

Daredevil - Excellent. Poor Matty Murdock.

:thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: out of 5 Group

Walking Dead - Never a let down. This is one of maybe 3 comic book series that I've gone back and reread the whole thing 3-4 times.

Invincible - Same as Walking Dead. Allen the Alien will be back soon too.

Noble Causes - I'm bummed that this book will be cancelled at issue 40. People overlook this book because there is no huge name writer / artist attached to it, but it has always been a very well written book.

SW Legacy - Talked about in another thread. Great stuff.

Iron Fist - Still excellent. I was leary when I saw that Brubaker and Fraction are off the book. However, the first 2 issues under the new writer haven't fallen off.

Thor - Rockin. I've never been big into Thor, but this Strazynski stuff is awesome. I'm sure it will slide off like ASM did with him, but right now, it's super.

Captain America - Brubaker's work on this continues to shine.

:thumb: :thumb: :thumb: out of 5 Group

Astounding Wolf Man - Glad this book is going to a monthly format. It's picking up some steam story-wise. I love the line art and the cartoony look of the book.

Skaar son of Hulk- The Hulk isn't one of my favs, but I picked up the first issue of this series and then added it to my sub. It is good, not great, but it keeps my interest for now. Good to see that he CAN talk.

Simon Dark - I was surprised that I like this series. Not the greatest comic ever, but it's entertaining. I could see a movie based around the character. It would probably translate well to film.

Usagi Yojimbo - Always good stuff. Same as always.

DMZ & Ex Machina - These 2 are always consistantly good.

Dynamo 5 - This book is picking up some steam and becoming more character driven. I'm liking it.

Amazing Spidey - I'm a little behind (Kraven's First Hunt books are the last that I've read), but I'm enjoying Spidey again. I don't mind the whole Brand New Day concept because I care more about good, fun stories moreso than continuity. This has been pretty good. No more sulking Spidey for now and I'm good with that.

:thumb: :thumb: out of 5 group

Kick *SQUEE* - This is ok, but I might drop it if it doesn't get me more excited soon.

Uncanny - Pretty ok. I'm going to see where it goes after 500 (still need to read 501) and then decide to keep or drop.

Brit - Probably my least favorite Kirkman book. I liked the old trades that I read, but I don't think that handing this book was the best idea (Bruce Brown writes the series - it's a Kirkman character). I'm actually 3 issues behind on reading this. I'm just not excited to read it. The whole multiple Brit idea was a terrible concept to start a new series on. This book was doomed from the get go.

Flash - This title is getting old fast. The Bilson stuff was bland and this latest run by Waid is a disappointment. The Flash kids gimmick isn't going to keep me with this title much longer.

Donkey Balls group:

Batman - This book sucks. I don't get what the hell is going on in it. It's not just the RIP story line. I haven't enjoyed a single issue since Morrison took it over. Maybe I need some acid before I read this title now. This book is getting cancelled from my pull.

I just cancelled Thor. I thought it started decently but after issue 8, still not enough action to keep me. Where's it going? I know there setting something up with Loki, but it feels like they're moving slower than the TV show Lost. I'm out of patience.

I'm cancelling Ghost Rider after this story arc ends but I have enjoyed it thoroughly.

I cancelled Wolverine Origins too because I thought it stayed too Alias-esque for too long - too many surpirse twists and past secrets crammed into one storyline.

I picked up the Vertigo book, Air, which is written and drawn by the same team that did the Cairo HC I raved about in an earlier post, and it gave me the same good feeling and anticipation that Young Liars does.

I recently finished reading the Vertigo Dead Boy Detectives TPB and it was FUN! I read it every day until I finished it, not because I felt like I had to, but because I wanted to and realized I was smiling more when I was reading it!

I re-read the Elseworlds Superman: Metropolis most recently for probably the 20+ time. I just love it and McKeever's art fit it perfectly I thought.

I'm currently reading the 80's DC series The Vigilante. It's a pretty good read, I'm enjoying it a lot more than the Deathstroke run I just finished. Adrian Chase's personality seems pretty consistent from issue to issue even with different writers and there's lot of little subplots.

I just finsihed the Platenary Trades.

Not sure what to read next.

The last 6 weeks I have read....

LoEG Black Dossier (thanks Hobo)
The latest Fables Trade...
3 Dark Horse Conan trades that reprinted the O.G. R.thomas and BWS stuff
6 Sandman TPBs
and now the 3 Planetary trades.

I mean..... I have had me some good reading.

I have a 5 issue set of books up next.... New Spring. It is a comic version of Robert Jordan's book....

But after that....... :?

I have been trying to get a full Alan Moore run on Supreme.... but not finished getting them all yet, the same with CGW Ghost.

I have been looking for a cheap trade of Batman Long Halloween.....

But I am kind of stuck.

I think I might read a Crossgen run........ maybe Scion or Meridian or Brath.... (but I'm not sure that I am complete on them either....)

I am kinda stumped.

51 is the latest issue. Probably not the best to get started on story-wise.

You can read the 1st issue here:

http://www.imagecomics.com/onlinecomics.php?start=40

Here is the wiki on the series. I haven't read the wiki because it's freakin long.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Walking_Dead

The 1st trade is $9.95 and covers 6 issues. That's where I'd start. :thumb:

I tried to write a brief back story to catch you up, but when I thought about it, that's pretty friggin hard with this series. Pm to be sent instead.

Just got around to reading Phil Jemas' and Salvador Larocca's "Namor" series.

The art is incredible, but the dialogue is pretty bad. It's set in the 20's-30's, but people speak so modern it's easy to forget.

Not terrible, but not great.

Also been reading a bunch of my friend's Savage Sword of Conan Magazines before I a have to ship them out.

SPOILER (in case you want to go back and read this 20 year old series)

What a sad way for a book to end, the title character commits suicide in the last issue. I can't remember another comic series ending that way. According to the writer, they had planned on this ending way back in issue #37, the issue where the Vigilante killed a police officer for the first time. I personally think it was kind of sudden that he went so crazy that he felt he had no other choice to kill himself, but I guess that might be how it is for real sometimes.

I am reading Crossgen's Meridian.

I really like it. I have not read a book with a teenage girl as the main character. It is very different. I like all the supporting characters, and how they are each given an integral part in the main story.

Of course, it is visually amazing.

I am at about #15.

The more I read Crossgen, the more I like it.

Just read the 1st 2 Hellbooy trades. They are a fun read. I always thought the character looked stupid so I never checked it out. A few months ago my wife wanted to see the movie so we went and she loved the character. I got her the first 5 trades.
