So much drama, that was not intended...
The only way to solve it is to release a new episode!
Here it is, EPISODE 16, the great UNITY discussion. This is both one of our longest, AND most on-topic episodes throughout.
Amazing.
We were all very unified throughout this episode. [/groan]

How exciting! I can't wait to hear this one.

I am still amazed...
I listened to about 20-25 min., I dug it. For me, I like them when they are a bit more on topic. I do enjoy the shenanigans, but I really like when the focus is on the comics. I really liked how you dudes talked about other crossovers. It is informative for me.
Hopefully I'll find the time to listen to the rest.

The bottom line is this: whether Jedi was interrupted or not, it WAS NEITHER INTENTIONAL NOR MALICIOUS.iggy101us wrote:I have listened to all the OTV podcasts so far, each episode from beginning to end. In episode 15, from a listener’s perspective, it seems like jedi was not given an opportunity to introduce himself in the beginning. It took jedi 4 or 5 times to get past the “I started to collect comics in 1977 . . . “. By that time, he had to fast-forward 12 years all the way to 1989. I didn’t find the interruptions particularly funny. It’s the first time jedi has been on the show so he should have the opportunity to introduce himself and give some background information. Keep in mind that not all listeners have listened all the past episodes and episode 15 could be their first episode. The first-time listener would not know all the personalities of the show. One of the things I like reading up on or listening to is how people got into comics and Valiant. Because of the interruptions, listeners don’t know what happened between 1977 and 1989. The joking around with jedi maybe should have come later on in the show once he has settled in (or in future episodes).
You all don't hear things the way I do, or Jedi did, or Dr. Solar does, or Chiclo does.
What you hear is the end result of an EDITING process.
I take great offense to the charge...in public, no less...that I MALICIOUSLY prevented Jedi from making his contribution.
That would be idiotic as he was a guest, and would be certain cause for Dr. Solar to remove me from the podcast.
If I did "step on Jedi", it was entirely by accident, and a by-product of my personality, my upbringing, and the way I communicate.
I volunteer my time to the podcast ENTIRELY at the whim and pleasure of Dr. Solar, and if he, at any point, decides I no longer offer anything of value to the podcast, he should remove me, and he is free to do so for any reason, or no reason at all. It's HIS show, not mine. I'm nothing but a mouth with an opinion.
This is not something that should have been done publicly, but if the intent was to humiliate, goal achieved.

Great job on this one. I have to say that this podcast flowed well. Everything was spot on, there was just enough meandering but even that was relevant in some way. Kudos to all three of you.
ZWH was amazing, I don't know how someone could have this conversation and pull out dates and timeline info while at dinner on a cell phone. I was trying to figure out what you were doing and when I heard you ask for the check I was astonished.
Chiclo's notes were great. I loved that you brought up the taboo subject that was hinted at earlier by pulling no punches. Incest or Non-Incest.
Doc, you did a great job with the editing and clarification of information that we take for granted. The addition of at the end was great, what a way to wrap up the show. I really didn't see that one coming.
I listen to the podcasts on days when I have my long drives through the desert around here and I have to say that the time flew by. I had to chop up the podcast so I could burn them to CD and I was stunned when the first CD had gone through the first hour.
Once again something strange happened for me with the podcast. I just picked a spot to cut the podcast into two parts last night so I could burn them to two discs. After listening to the end my car's CD player automatically started the CD and it just so happens that disc 2 began at the same moment that Chiclo first mentions what is at the end of the podcast (trying not to ruin it for people). Just thought that was kind of serendipidous(sp?), at first I thought it was an outtake.

Great job guys!
All the podcasts are good but the Unity episode is my favorite so far. I agree with TKWill that the addition at the end is awesome. It brings everything together (staying with the Unity theme).
I particularly enjoyed the Phil versus Erica analysis - it was really well thought out. I still like Dr Solar's explanation

May as well make my first post here a congratulatory one on a great podcast! I'm just getting into collecting Valiant, having missed out on the pre-Unity stuff when it was new and vehemently opposed to the speculator market that permeated the post-Unity era. Now, I just want to read the stories and I appreciate the history of this line of books. I'm still playing catch-up on the 'cast, but I'm digging what I hear so far.

Welcome abroad! When you get some time, we'd love to hear about your VALIANT beginnings, so go post it up in the "My Story" thread!turborip wrote:May as well make my first post here a congratulatory one on a great podcast! Thanks for the welcome. I've already noticed that I've learned a lot from these boards and the site (and the 'cast) on how I might approach the collecting.Dr. Solar wrote: Welcome to the bored, and thanks for listening to the podcast!

episode 13
I've been really busy the past few months and just picked up the podcast again at episode 13.
First off, congrats chiclo, I just got married too (why I've been so busy) and I also met my wife on myspace.
Also I kept wanting to mention Conan as a great treatment of an older property when you guys were talking Dark Horse.
If they take the Gold Key Magnus and treat it with the same respect they did the original Conan novels we will get some awesome Magnus comics.
As for Dr. Solar I never read it but it sounds like we'll WANT them to take liberties there.
I just started 14, but looking forward to the rest of them.

I can't believe I didn't think of Conan! I love the recent Conan stuff that Dark Horse has been putting out.Knob wrote:Also I kept wanting to mention Conan as a great treatment of an older property when you guys were talking Dark Horse.

This is for Chiclo, concerning his pronunciation of Shadowmans name. How he says it hurts my ears.
