Remember the time Kenny Kid Hop Hop was dryhumping Flamingo in a karaoke bar and burned his genitalia? He told the doctor that he dropped a Flaming Moe in his lap, but I bet the doctor knew better.
Back on topic, my brother used to work in a hospital emergency room. He told me you wouldn't believe how many people go in there with things stuck up their butt, and you wouldn't believe the variety of items.

reminds me of a time when I lived in Southern Cal...we were at a friends condo. Their "back yard" shared a common wall with an apartment complex---slightly low rent---we were there for the Kentucky Derby, outside drinking mint julips--all of a sudden hear from the other side "WOMAN...get me a beer!!!" The wall was too high to see over but what I imagined was a 35-45 year old, pot bellied, slightly balding man wearing a stained white wife beater...sweat pouring out of every pore...and the stench that went with him...X-O HoboJoe wrote:Betwixt you and I?

question: i won 2 auctions from a guy for a total of 30 comics, shipping was 5.00 and 6.00 for each auction, i requested combined shipping and he came back with $9.00 I felt this was rather high for combined shipping, certainly for 30 comics. I get the package today and the actual shipping is $4.95 Should I complain?

It probably would not be worth the effort of complaining, although it might make you feel better if you were to point out to him that you received your items but you won't be bidding on anymore of his stuff because you don't care for his interpretation of combined shipping.riftt wrote:question: i won 2 auctions from a guy for a total of 30 comics, shipping was 5.00 and 6.00 for each auction, i requested combined shipping and he came back with $9.00 I felt this was rather high for combined shipping, certainly for 30 comics. this is what he replied to me:
his auction also stated this btw:
also, when the description says this:
[/quote]
note that while he says he isnt a dealer, he has over 1000 feedbacks as a seller and advertises he has been in comics for 45 years.I didn`t say I ship 2 items for the price of 1. I knocked off a substantial amount for your shipping. Check into shipping costs & you`ll see why I do what I do. I`m not getting any breaks on supplies from the USPS. I`m not a comic shop or an Ebay store. I`m just selling off my personal collection. You`re the 1st person that`s had a problem with it, but it`s the best I can do
his auction also stated this btw:
keep in mind that the "substantial" amount he knocked off shipping was 2 dollars, so instead of $11 for two auctions i paid $9 combinedAlso, combined shipping for same day ending auctions only.
also, when the description says this:
was it wrong for me to assume that each issue would be bagged and boarded? Turns out he crammed multiple issues in each bag/board, at least 4 comics to each bag and board (possibly damaging the comics, i havent inspected them yet)They will be bagged, boarded, & shipped quickly & securely.

also, is there a scan of kevin vanhook's signature on the site somewhere? because it sure looks like my bs#1 is signed by "shooter"
His is the one on the bottom. Shooter's sig is pretty recognizable.

Oh my goodness...I think I've been bidding on some of his crap. Link one, please.
Anyhoo, if the shipping CHARGE is LESS THAN double the actual shipping (unless $20 or over) I generally don't have *too* much of a problem with it.
I love that $2 off the 'combined' S&H charge is 'a substantial amount.' What a dope.
As for the bagging and boarding, he's implying that they are INDIVIDUALLY bagged and boarded. He doesn't say anything about putting four in one.
Suggestion: tell him A. if he's using Priority Mail, the 'costs' are FREE, and B. if he's BUYING supplies at the USPS, he's an idiot getting ripped off...but phrase it more politely.

Three for three!!!!!! All are now invalid items!!!!!MagnusRF wrote:Two of the three we removed by eBay, but he has three more up and running!!!!!!

I don't know which is worse, eBay allowing it, or him doing it.....
Now for the next two....

I take it back..I looked closer at the scan from the comp at work, and it doesn't show the resto that I thought it did.ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 42921&rd=1
Not *REALLY* bad, but not Near Mint. Anyone see why?
There's even restoration on this book.
BEAUTIFUL scans, though. ALL books should look like this.

Musta been my monitor at home, but the spine on the back looks like it had some eraser marks, which is a really nifty way to get rid of dirt, stray ink, and other 'stuff' on the white sections of comics, but it leaves a VERY tell-tale white 'clean' area that usually has a different surface character to it when held to light...
and yeah....it's counted as 'restoration', minor though it may be.

Anyhoo....my eyes must have deceived me, it doesn't look like it now.
However...I DID get a note from the seller, explaining that the 'hole' was just a bit of other paper from somewhere else, and no hole at all. Which, of course, is good...but it still doesn't explain the dirtiness of the back cover, spine stress marks, the rust stain from another staple on the back cover, the tear at the top staple, slight creasing on the back cover, the crease (color breaking!!) by Lois's right shoe, etc as 'Near Mint'. And that's just what I can see. It's a nice VF+, though!

"Are you tired of paying sky high prices for overgraded books? How about buying "bargains" only to find out the seller has no concept of grading? Wouldn't you prefer to buy quality reading copies that are Overstreet priced, correctly graded and presented in full size, clear, detailed scans? "
Someone explain to me paying eBay prices for a "VF" copy that's actually VG is WORSE than paying Overstreet prices for an accurately graded VG copy?
Hint: they're pretty much the same.
"VF" copy at $144 in Guide sells for an average of 35% of Guide, or $50....or an accurately graded "VG" which is...surprise...$50 in the Guide.
The difference?
