Twitter uses two types of "codes" for lack of a better term:

1. @ - used to designate recipients - these are called mentions; if you @valiantcomics, your tweet shows up in their timeline for them to see whether they follow you or not.

2. # - used to congregate tweets about similar things - these are called hashtags; if you #fanartfriday (careful to not put any spaces) then anyone can look up all tweets with that hashtag. (I think some Twitter clients can pull certain hashtags into a list, but I'm unsure as I don't use one that does).

So, you should make your Tweet:

@valiantcomics Here's my submission. It's awesome, cause I'm cool like dat. #fanartfriday

Just make sure to add your picture first.
