Dr. Solar wrote:Dude. Awesome recap. Thanks for adding the additional info in there that we missed/screwed up. Very nice.
Nothing was "screwed up." I rather enjoyed it, especially the first-hand recollections of what the release of the books at the time of their initial release was like. After all--I didn't buy my first VALIANT book until after the announcement of VH-2 and missed all the madness.

I learned, as well, so that makes it well worth the price of admission.

I've got a road trip next week, so I'l be burning them all to CD and enjoying, chronologically, as I drive. And for that, I thank you even more! :thumb:

I just listened to the newest episode last night... very funny and informative. I think Jedi did a really good job on the show and he really seemed to know his stuff.

I'm curious, though, you said the first upload had overlap problems... was this fixed on the itunes one? I don't know if the problem I had was the file or if my ipod crapping out, but it just kept coming to an abrupt stop and skipping on the the next episode. I think most of it happened during the first 10 minutes or so, then it all went as normal. Just wondering if I'm the only one.

Strange.

The feed should have the updated file in it now.

The problem I mentioned should be in the last couple minutes.

I'm not sure what would be causing the problem you are describing, but I'll see if I can figure anything out. The version on my iPod didnt' have this problem.

The "talk-over" was Doc describing what the Bloodshot Pink is at the very end. Strangely I was able to separate and comprehend both the original voice and the talk-over, kinda freaked me out afterward. I guess these things happen when you are driving through the California desert.

Weird. I just listened to it, and I couldn't seperate it. It was a mush.

I kind of figured it wasn't the same problem... overlapping didn't seem like it'd do anything like that. I was just hopeful. But, I was listening to a Systm podcast today and it did the same thing about 5 minutes in. So I guess it's the ipod, but it's strange because it doesn't do it on anything but the podcasts.

That's a flat load of bull$hit.

I have no idea why you would even say something like this, much less in broad daylight.

Yeah, this isn't true, not even remotely, and I TRULY have no clue WTF is wrong with Jedi.

It's a conversational mish-mash. There are no "talking points." There are no "moderators." Nobody, least of all me, "talked over" anybody else, or Dr. Solar would have said something.

You owe me an apology for this nonsense...and I'm not holding my breath.

The only thing is that the "guest star" seems to play fifthe fiddle.
What, both of them...?
I love the show but you really don't hear much from the guests when they are on the shows. When listening to the Eternal brothers show I thought that Jedi may have left at a couple points just because I hadn't heard from him. I must reiterate that I really do love to listen to the OTV podcasts but sometimes I think that maybe there might be too much color commentary.
Everyone is given PLENTY of opportunity to speak....Dr. Solar EDITS OUT the dead air....if someone was providing too much "color commentary", there wouldn't BE any dead air.

I don't think Zeph needs to be on the defensive, because I don't think anything was done wrong. If there is that impression, I know for a fact it wasn't deliberate.

If you, Jedi, feel you weren't given enough opportunity to speak, or where spoken over, then I am sorry, I KNOW that wasn't the intention of ANY of us. If the fault is with anyone it is with me for not managing the discussion as skillfully as I could.

I am definitely not a professional radio host (as you may be able to tell), and I still have a lot to learn about production, managing the show, and moderating the discussion to a degree. If we step on some toes as we learn the steps, please bear with us. We don't mean to.

Oh, and send your dang thoughts on Unity to onlythevaliant@gmail.com! Our recording date for this episode keeps getting pushed back due to scheduling conflicts, and I would love to get more of your guy's thoughts. I want to talk about the stuff that you guys want to hear discussed. We've had a couple responses that will fuel some good discussion. I want more

If I had a microphone for my computer, is there a way I could join in over the web?

Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

Just to let you hear an outsider's POV on the whole thing, it sounded like Zeph cutting Jedi off on the "I started collecting comics in 1977" was a running gag after a few times. It was sort of funny. Not in a spiteful way... it almost sounded scripted (I know it wasn't). After that, though, it sounded like Jedi got to say a few good points and was pretty enjoyable to listen to.

If you think....in any way, shape, or form....that there was ANY "talking over you" or "attempting to drown you out"....you are FLAT...OUT...WRONG.

You may choose to believe a lie if you wish, but a lie it remains, and both Dr. Solar AND Chiclo will back me (and Dr. Solar already has) on this.

Did you bother to listen to the rest of the podcasts BEFORE coming on as a guest host?

(This is like going onto the O'Reilly Factor and then complaining because Bill yelled at you.)

I have listened to all the OTV podcasts so far, each episode from beginning to end. In episode 15, from a listener’s perspective, it seems like jedi was not given an opportunity to introduce himself in the beginning. It took jedi 4 or 5 times to get past the “I started to collect comics in 1977 . . . “. By that time, he had to fast-forward 12 years all the way to 1989. I didn’t find the interruptions particularly funny. It’s the first time jedi has been on the show so he should have the opportunity to introduce himself and give some background information. Keep in mind that not all listeners have listened all the past episodes and episode 15 could be their first episode. The first-time listener would not know all the personalities of the show. One of the things I like reading up on or listening to is how people got into comics and Valiant. Because of the interruptions, listeners don’t know what happened between 1977 and 1989. The joking around with jedi maybe should have come later on in the show once he has settled in (or in future episodes).

Oi vey!

So much drama, that was not intended...

The only way to solve it is to release a new episode!

Here it is, EPISODE 16, the great UNITY discussion. This is both one of our longest, AND most on-topic episodes throughout.

Amazing.

We were all very unified throughout this episode. [/groan]

Get it from the source: Only The Valiant episode 16!
