All depends what the number is dude?BruceReville wrote:Not sure how good of a deal it is, but I scored a Tales of Susoense in Good/Very Good condition for $550.00. I love getting my income tax refund in, I usually buy one really nice thing for me and pay off bills with the rest.
#39 might be a good score for that much, as would # 1, but if it was # 73 you may have been stung.

It was number 39 1st Iron Man -- how could I forget to put the number.

I sniped it. Just because whenever I put in a bid recently, someone else bids up in incraments to out bid me? I can understand putting in one bid ~ and beating me.Draco wrote:I was hoping one of you guys would snag that babyPhantom.. wrote:Solar alpha and omega hardcover £5 with £2.75 postage.
Slip case and poster
But when they go up in 50 p bids untill they serpase you

So I put in a snipe bid and never look at it again, if I am out bid before the snipe goes off ~ I don't care.
OH, and it was perfect, really high grade condition.

local show, picked up the following:
Bloodshot #50, 51 and Last Stand $1 each. BS #50 and #51 about VF/NM due to corner dings, Last Stand NM.
from that same dealer's $1 boxes, I also picked up Justice League of America #217 (So Much Fun variant) in VF/NM, Orbit Vol. One from Eclipse Comics, which features a real nice Dave Stevens cover and Uncle Scrooge #289 in VF, which isn't really a steal, but is one of the chapters I needed in the Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck series by Don Rosa.
From another dealer's $1 boxes, I picked up two VF/NM copies of Planet Comics #1 (another sweet Dave Stevens cover), and Taboo #1 by Spiderbaby Grafix, signed and numbered by Steven Bissette and John Totleben.
from a dealer's 4/$1 boxes, I picked up the following:
Doctor Who #1-23, except missing #4 and #5 which were beat to *SQUEE*, so I left them, Thunderstrike #24, Silver Surfer #34 (return of Thanos), Hulk #338 (McFarlane issue), Formerly Known as the Justice League #1 (always wanted to read this), What If? Vol. 2 #7 (Wolverine as a SHIELD Agent), and Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #16-18, 20 which I mistakenly picked up, thinking it was the in demand story arc, instead of the preceding Prey storyline. Not too bad, wish there would have been more good, cheap stuff.
Mile High Chuck was there, didn't even bother to look at his books.

That's about a 30 min drive for me. Is it worth it?Brother J wrote:Ramada near the airport in Essington, next one is April 3rd.jedimarley wrote:Where was this show at Bro J?
Also neglected to mention I picked up 27 #1 from Image for $3, this one seems to have lost steam quickly, I wanted to check it out as the concept sounded interesting enough.

well, I think it's almost an hour for me. If you're into bigger dollar books, it might be worth it, but I mainly go to raid bargain boxes, and I really didn't feel like it was worth it to me this time. I only spent $20 on books and I didn't feel there was enough dealers with decent cheap stock. I think I've done better at the Allentown shows getting good, cheap crap.jedimarley wrote:That's about a 30 min drive for me. The next one at the Merchants Square Mall is April 16th. One sooner is the Lehigh Valley Comic Con on March 19th, it's in Schnecksville. Jim Calafiore is going to be there, but I won't, as that is my APBA Baseball Draft Day.jedimarley wrote:Not worth it to me. I got a NM set of Marvel's "Darkhawk" series issues 1-50 (minus 39,40 and 45) plus Annuals 1 & 2 bagged and boarded for $20 at my LCS today
I'm excited about this because Darkhawk is the last run I needed to complete my "New Warriors-and-related" collection
I just have to look for the 4 issues missing and all is good
