ya, It is annoying when they say VF-NM but mean VF.. I've taken that gamble many times and gotten awesome books. The other day i got an A&A 0 gold for 6 bucks that was VF-NM.. gave VERY VF. :/ But for 6 bucks I don't mind, I didn't have one to begind with.

Considering what some of these have been selling for, this was a steal. I onlt wish I had seen it first.

Here's my $.50 finds from the show today:
Magnus - 3, 9, 10, 13, 14
Gold Key Magnus - 19
Defiant Genesis - Signed by David Lapham (x2)
Whitman Doctor Solar - 31
Warriors of Plasm - The Collected Edition signed by Jim Shooter
VH2 Master Darque - 1
Deathmate - Prologue Gold signed by Layton and someone else
The Outcast One-shot

Plus a bunch of VH1 and VH2 commons that I need. I still have so many holes that I had to put a bunch of stuff back because I didn't want to spend so much. Only 7 more Pre-Unity that I want.

I guess for $3-4 you can roll the bones, but still ... that $1 shipping sounds like it's gonna be folded up and dropped in a business envelope.

the good deals keep coming

Post by Neurosis1 »

I've been on somewhat of a roll lately. Here are the issues I picked up at a comic store on a trip out of town:

I got the following for $3 a piece
Rai 33, Harbinger 41, Shadowman 43, Magnus 64, Solar 59

These for .50 a piece
Harbinger 3 w/coupon, acclaim red cover heroes preview, shadowman volume 3 b&w retailer preview, vintage magnus 1-4, Magnus 6 no coupon, magnus 7 no coupon, origin of defiant universe(rare no comicfest logo) x2, Splatterball 2nd edition(Defiant), Turok Evolution(double cover)

And this was the big score of the day:
Harbinger 0 pink NM $15

I'm hoping to send the harby pink in as my first CGC submission to test the waters. I'm hoping to get a 9.6 or higher.

-Chris

P.S. As I type this, I have just learned of the death of Christopher Reeve. This is terrible news. The world has truly lost someone special. He was a legend, and in my eyes, a real hero.

So, The seller was incorrect that it was a vvss. He just misunderstood as he doesn't normally sell comics. He was cool about it and just canceled the deal. I was a little disappointed though :/

Alright, this is my second day in a row full of great finds. I got multiple copies of a lot of pre-unity and early post unity valiant stuff in great shape for between .50 and $1, but the prize find of the day was a copy of Magnus 0 with the card for $8. I never realized visiting my parents for the weekend could be so rewarding. :)

Well, it was sure worth a try. Even though I was green with envy I was hoping it would be the real deal for you.

Esca, the haul I got this week was indeed all from upper northern california. I found the magnus 0 and multiple other valiants at this little hippie book shop that I had been to a million times before when I used to live with my parents. He had just last month gotten a 4 long box collection from a store in petaluma that closed down, and he said he still had quite a few boxes stashed in the back that he was going to price by the end of the year... so I may be making another trip north in December to see what else he's got.

Nice! If I remember from Greg's map, you pretty much have all the dibs to the LCS there. Let us know if you find anything else.

15 VH2 Ninjak No. 1s for $2 total. Whoo-hoo!

I don't know what the hell is wrong with me but I can't lay off Vh2s when they're less than 25 cents. I'm getting stacks of these GD things.

And VH2 Ninjak really is a turd in an easter basket, anyway,

But if I see 15 more tomorrow I'll get those too.

Another nice haul today. I came back to sacramento, and decided to venture to a store in the next town over, and came up with a nice little gold mine. I got the following in NM condition for .50 a piece:
Harbinger 5 with coupon x2
X-O 1
Rai 2 x3
Solar 1 x2
and I also got what looks to be a likely candidate for a cgc 9.8:
Harbinger 1 with coupon $5
The harbinger 1 is nearly perfect in every way. It literally looks brand new. There's just the tiniest of upper and lower corner binding tears on the back cover, and doesn't even show from the front. It's very minor compared to all the other copies I've seen

I'm going to have to stop getting so much of this early valiant because I'm running out of room.

You should be able to get these pretty easy on eBay. Keep pluging away at the 0 & 12. You should be able to grab them for under $40.00 apiece pretty easy.
