I agree XIII was awesome. I had my doubts when I first started playing it, but once I got used to the controls and the comic book style animation it was a very fun game to play. I would highly recommend it to anyone who likes shooter adventure type games. Sad thing is I read somewhere that no plans are being made for a sequel.
Yeah there's more of the comic left to adapt but unfortunately the game sold less than was projected. I know some critics panned it but I couldn't see what they were talking about. I had a blast playing it.

It's like True Crime Streets of L.A. It's not a perfect game and won't revolutionize the genre, but it's very well desgned, well written, well animated and extremely involving.

Now mind you, I don't play many FPSs (the only other FPS I've played in the last ten years is Doom 3, which I played prior to this) but what was unusual or difficult about the controls in XIII?

The aiming was an issue for me on the first level too, especially before you got a hold of a gun and had to use something (a knife?) to throw at someone while bullets are flying all around. I also didn't care for using chairs as weapons as many times as you needed to in the game either.

'Back when I was in the Army', we used to play this system that I am sure was programed in BASIC. It was two gorillas on different levels of blocks/buildings and they would lob bananas back and forth at each other, once they got hit, then blammo but bananas that missed took out parts of the building. You had to plot the trajectoy and speed and you could even set the gravity to lets say, the moon, the earth, jupiter etc.

It was a blast... (and I was the King). Anybody know where to get that game now ? Or ever hear of it ?

I am taking today off... going to play Resistance: Fall of Man MotorStorm, Halo3, probably take a shower and MIGHT bust out Overlord for kicks but Blazing Angels is looking mighty appealing.

BTW, maybe a weird question or worthy of a thread of it's own... I have a 42" HDTV in our bedroom and when I play my PS2 games on it, they look terrible. When I play anything other than a HD or Blue Ray disc on either of the players (i.e. a normal DVD) it looks like crap... WTF is up with that ?

Even on my PS3 the PS2 games look crappy.... man, I gotta finish God of War and some other PS2 goodies (I've had Maximo for the longest time now and want to kick some butt but with these graphics, I am bummed).

Help ?

The component hookups should be providing a pretty good feed, but the HDMI will be better...according to wrunow, you WILL notice a difference between all levels of feeds.

you may want to grab a calibration DVD/HD-DVD and calibrate each indivdual device. worked wonders on my upconverting DVD player

FYI, due to DRM and regulations, DVD upconverting generally does not occur over analogvideo cables (RGB/Component) you will need the VGA/DVI/HDMI cable that you have on order

It could also be that the TV you have does not have a good built in scaler for games, and you may want to research your model and possibly look into an external scaler. There are some good ones from Japan, the XRGB line

Also remember a lot of the PS2 games were not progressive scan and are generally just meh looking in the first place

As for games, October is the beginning of Wallet Rape 2007.

Picked up Halo 3 Legendary Cat Helmet edition, Zelda Phantom Hourglass DS, Enemy Territory Quake Wars LE

Next few weeks have some other great stuff- Half Life Orange Box (HL2 Ep2, Team Fortress 2, Portal), Project Gotham Racing 4, Beautiful Katamari, guitar hero 3, Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles PSP, Conan, Ratchet & Clank PS3

Dont forget Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and I HIGHLY recommend Jericho. I DLed the demo from Xbox Live and it scares the CRAP outta me. Disgustingly gory graphics and background music to make your hair stand on end.

And there are more, oh so many more that my Console Gamers Magazines have me already drooling over and $hit man, I STILL have not finished Gears of War, my FIRST 360 game !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am outta control....

That wasn't a game ... that was a videotape of me getting drunk in college.

Any PS3 owners going to try the SplitFish FragFX ?

http://gear.ign.com/articles/799/799262p1.html

I am selling blood and plasma right now trying to get the funds. I can only see this as enhancing console gameplay for the PS3. Now if the 360 would climb onboard....

So what do you say ? Like it ? Hate it ? Gonna try it ? Gonna buy one, hate it and sent yours to me for free ?

Hey I can dream... but EB Games is open tomorrow at 10 am.

Resistance: Fall of Man, prepare to get owned.

W T F ???

Anything with the slightest touch of Japanese in it still just comes across weird as hell.

I did NOT realize that Mario was Japanese. That just blows me away.

I am in no way a Nintendo fan (or is this on the Wii ?) but that game does look fun. Pretty smooth graphics.

I remember playing Mario 64 (?) and still have it here on an emulator somewhere, lots of fun... well if you could figure out some of the puzzles. I REALLY enjoyed Mario Kart, that game is just a blast when you play it with the kids.
