As for my list of crappy Marvel books...
X-Men (yes, there, I said it! X-Men went through some REALLY crappy runs, but no one ever really DARES to say it aloud!)
The entire Atlantis Attacks annual crossover.
The Dr. Druid era Avengers.
The new Invaders.
Post-Miller Daredevil.
I could go on for days...

Unfortunately, Marvel went on for years with the bad runs.Byrneout wrote:As for my list of crappy Marvel books...

The maximum Clone- Saga crap springs to mind . . .

One of my first comics was Silver Sable #1. I thought it would be worth quite a few bucks because it had a silver embossed cover.
What an embarassment. Like almost all # 1's of the early 90's it wasn't worth jack. Plus the stories put me to sleep.
The early 90's sucked. There were good stories then but overall it sucked.
But we all know this.

I'll write this...davidb wrote:I don't know if this is worst title ever, but the concept certainly turned out badly. Look who's in the book then look at the top left corner.
That is one BADLY wrapped comic book

Interesting note about the X-Men.
I really like issues 94-285 or so. (even the storm-vampire stories, the powerless-storm-with-mohawk-as-leader & the Longshot-Polaris era).
\Couldn't _stand_ the whole manga-chic era in the 300s, though. Haven't read since about 375 on.
Also, I much prefer X-factor 1-20 or so over X-men 20-66. Better writing, better character development...

I don't think it was a Marvel title, and I admit I have never read a copy, but the absolutely stupidest concept that comes to mind is the Bart Sears book featuring the Brute and Babe "characters" from his Wizard art column.
I mean think about this for a second... these characters were specifically designed to be as GENERIC as possible in name and look, since they were to be used as "sample" characters in an ART COLUMN. In other words, "characters" that, by their very DESIGN, are about as poorly suited for actual use as comic book characters as possible.
And what does Bart Sears do? He makes a comic out of them.

Most of the X Spin-offs (especially Generation X)
Alpha Flight ('03)
Ghost Rider (cool character, bad stories)
Doctor Who (best sci-fi show/worst comic adaptation)...yet i still read it?
Infinity Trillogy (horrible, yet fun
)
You really thought House of M sucked? Only one's I can agree with your list would be Doctor Who! But it's all good!

Ravage 2099- fights with a pipe and a garbage can lid.
Most of the 2099 titles, Sleepwalker, Foolkiller, the Punisher when he reborn as part demon hunter or whatever that crap was. Power Pack, Night Thrasher, Darkhawk, NFL Superpro, any new hero created between 1990-93 (to clarify I'm only talking Marvel here).

I actually liked Darkhawk too. And, uhm, I liked Sleepwalker as well. Maybe I liked the Sleepwalker concept more than the actual writing in the book, but it was enough to keep me on as a reader.speedracex wrote:I liked Darkhawk, feel free to heckle me to deathinmyblood wrote:YES !!! That also brings to my mind, Darkhawk!!!!!
Thankyou!
But what about Plasmer? One thing that blew my mind about the lawsuit over the Defiant "Plasm" title was that Plasmer was such terrible book!

Actually, When I was at Marvel, Carnage was huge. He could up the sales of a title 100%. There was this weakass Marvel UK book (not deaths head. I forget the name but I think it was a green cover with Carnage and an Aeon Flux looking chic on the front). It sold like crazy and the Carnage inside turned out to be a hologram. Total scam.djm928 wrote:Ok, I'll give it to you for Carnage and Bishop. Cable was better in his early introduction though with New Mutants/X-Force. I was really just meant that Marvel started pumping out way too many characters at the time without focusing on the stories.
See if any of you guys can figure this out, What was really the worst selling (and hence the worst) Marvel comic ever?
(I'm almost scared to tell b/c there were only like 1000 or so printed, and I don't want that piece of crap to become a "Rare Collectable")

I remember the book; it was called WILD THING (not to be confused with Tom DeFalco's alt future Marvel book, where the lead character is the daughter of Wolverine and Elektra):John Taddeo wrote:Actually, When I was at Marvel, Carnage was huge. That was the book I was referring to, but even as much as that sucks it's not nearly as bad as the worst Marvel book ever. Keep guessing. The Spider wrote:I remember the book; it was called WILD THING (not to be confused with Tom DeFalco's alt future Marvel book, where the lead character is the daughter of Wolverine and Elektra):John Taddeo wrote:Actually, When I was at Marvel, Carnage was huge.
