Yeah and now this relationship has started out on the wrong foot...hmmm..what is the common denominator? Maybe you need to check the way you act around people. oh and it is valiantcomics.com and valiantfans.com please get it right next time...tonysamos1 wrote:I figured you'd complain about my last post too. You're kidding, right?tonysamos1 wrote:Thanks guys,
My books have alraedy been sent out and now their is no offer. Just because I don't post a zillion times does not make me a stranger to valiant.com. If anybody bothered to look into this matter they could have asked Greg about me, who I e-mailed the night before about this offer. Also, the upper left of my original post shows I have been a member for almost a year now. I've never seen such behavior towards a generous and legitimate offer. I know when I purchase items online, I always do a search for a coupons on other sites... is that company being unprofessional for not listing the coupon code on thier site? For someone like me, disabled and on a fixed income, it's a great opportunity to get some high end Valiant books slabbed at a a very afforable price. I'm quite sure I'm not the only one this offer would help. To those of you who do not want to take advantage of this offer, simply don't, don't post negative opinions.
Sami
You need to understand something, so let me spell it out very clearly: NO ONE KNOWS WHO YOU ARE.
THEREFORE, since no one can vouch for you, because you DO NOT POST, and then the first thing you DO post sounds AMAZINGLY like being a shill for someone...you cannot seriously sit back and tell me you are shocked and surprised by this reaction.
Get real.
Seriously.
It's not about the validity of the offer. You seem to have missed that. It's about HOW the offer was presented. If you don't understand this, please re-read the thread.
If you don't contribute to a community, it doesn't matter how long you've parked your car in the lot. No one knows you, because you have chosen not to be known, and then you get uppity when people question your motives?
Come on.
All you people who read but don't post, pay attention: there's nothing wrong with reading but not posting....but that doesn't make you a member of this community, no matter how much of a 'fan' you claim to be. It makes you a voyeur. An eavesdropper. A bystander, wallflower, non-part-taker.
Understand what the root word of 'community' is, and you'll understand what I'm saying. You have to TAKE PART to BE a part.
I GUARANTEE you, if no one posted here, and everyone just watched...no one would have stuck around for longer than a day.
That's the point.
And it's NOT 'valiant.com'. It's Valiantfans.com, or, previously, valiantcomics.com.
Think that's not important? How's about if I call you Siam? Or Saimmeiiis? Or Dave? Sound good?
And don't EVEN get me STARTED with how 'generous' a 20% discount is. CGC offers that all day, every day of the week, if you submit through a member-dealer.

Don't let the door hit you in the *SKREE* on the way out!
While you're watching the door to make sure it won't hit your *SQUEE* on the way out, I'll have my foot stretched out to trip ya.

Anyone know why things are starting to get rowdy? Never seen la cosa nostra so worked up like we hooligans have been as of late.

Quit whining. And quit using your disability as a weapon. You were wrong, and that's that, but you keep trying to make this about someone besides yourself. My points are absolutely valid, and I'm sure you're aware of it. Be a man, deal with it, and move on.tonysamos1 wrote:ZephyrWasHot!! & DawgPhan deserve each other. I know people like to bash on CGG/PGX, or whatever it is now. But, I can say from experience that CGG/PGX usually grades their comics an average of .2 lower than CGC.
Example:
CGC 9.8=CGG/PGC 9.6
Take this for what it is worth, but I think they have very strict grading standards. However...... and this is from expericence too.... the only thing that is going to bring the big $$$$ on eBay is CGC.

That seems to be exactly what everyone else says about their modern grading...makes me think that 9.8 pgx slabs might be good for reslabbing...BodaZoffa wrote:I know people like to bash on CGG/PGX, or whatever it is now. I was thinking the same thing. I used to hear "I'm on a fixed income" a lot when I did some fundraising over the phone a while back. They never specifically said at what level their income was "fixed at". Even baseball players have "fixed incomes", but they're fixed pretty well..ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:I live on a fixed income. Phone fund raising sucks. Why don't charity's throw dances or dinner parties? You find someone local of semi importance to do a speech and you charge enough to cover the cost plus slightly more for the fund raising and next think you know people are beating down the doors to give you money.Brother J wrote:I was thinking the same thing. I hate phone charity's because 1) they interrupt the flow of your evening (usually dinner) 2) they expect you to care about something as strongly as they do (the speckle white talied bird is becoming endangered in one city in the entire world? who cares?) 3) they are pushy. I especially love the fact that when you ask for them to send the materials to your home they protest and expect you to donate right there! How do I know they aren't a crook who just wants my info?

I agree 100% with what you said about phone charity work, in fact, I hated doing it so bad I quit after two days. The place I worked for were legit, there's a bunch of hoops the government makes them go through to make sure of that. My problem with doing that stuff is because if you're NOT pushy, the bosses at the job get on your *SQUEE* and try to force you to do it their way. They made me listen to a tape of a supposed "good" call where a rep was told several times no by an elderly lady, but then he finally managed to talk her into making a donation. It felt like such a slimy thing, he basically sweet talked the lady into doing something she didn't want to do and likely didn't have the money to do. I wanted to vomit right there and then after hearing that and I quit the same day.whetteon wrote:Phone fund raising sucks. Why don't charity's throw dances or dinner parties?
