I will kick in the X-O #1.

Somebody please step up with Rai 3, 4 or Magnus 0. Your copy will be Jim Shooter's copy. It doesn't have to be your NM copy, just a reader.

Okay, time is drawing short. I will contribute all of the remaining issues.

He's given me so much enjoyment over the years. It's an honor to give back.

I'd like to announce that JMatt will be coming with me to meet Shooter and he will interview him and present him with the award and the books, as the emissary of ValiantFans.com and he is thrilled at the chance to meet Jim.

This wouldn't be possible without all you generous guys stepping up and doing what should be done. And those who contributed will be rewarded. But it's a group effort from you VALIANT guys from all over America and wouldn't be possible without Greg hosting this site!

You guys are all so awesome, I have not been able to get into storage to get my books (and would prob take too much time to ship from Canada) but sent some money for the plaque, but you guys came through Big time (no surprise there)!

Big Kudos to Jmatt for coming through with books and a big cash contribution on the Plaque, really cool of you :thumb: I hope you have a blast meeting Jim.

Knobrow: Nice idea to do this for Jim and I cant wait to hear/read the interview
Where are we going and why am I in this hand-basket?

Well... should it be award and books first then interview, or the opposite? I'd rather meet JS... do the standard interview than BAM! ARARD! Ans ALL BOOKS YOU MADE!!!

Well?

This is technically a VF.com project so I always want input.

I think you should do the interview first and then give him the award and book.

Okay. Well now I'm nervous. facepalm

I have the good fortune of living near Joe and Jim, and I'm thrilled with the opportunity. :cloud9:

Edit: And thanks to Bobby for contributing these from the final list:

X-O 2
RAI 3
Magnus 0

Thanks to all for your generous contributions.

I have been out for several days, but it's pretty awesome how you guys are contributing to the Valiant set for Jim Shooter!

Much like nscc said:
nscc wrote:You guys are all so awesome, I have not been able to get into storage to get my books...
My books are buried in something of a "time capsule with air conditioning" that I rarely visit (so far, only to smile at the lack of any visible changes or to heap more upon the pile). No idea what I have in the form of reader books anymore. I'm hoping that some decade between now and my death I'll have an opportunity to surprise myself with all the stuff in there.

Anyway, great job!

Hey, at least you know in advance, not just stepping into a once-in-a-lifetime experiencne like I did. 8-)

Seriously, had not noticed this thread before - must say this is very cool and it's great to see you will be there. Jim is great at telling stories and generous with sharing his experiences, so get him talking. While this will be about Valiant, it will undoubtably spill into the whole industry, so be prepared to hear and comment stories about the whole history of comics.

He is also surprisingly modest, so it really is up you to get him started. Let him know how much he and his creations mean to all of us and also, make sure to get photos and signatures for yourself. Anyway, no reason to be nervous, it's great you will be an emissary and you'll have a great time.

And kudos to everyone who makes this come together.

/Magnus

Jim ditched the Italian Restaurant idea because I need control over the room (to film the interview).

I have been reading up on prior interviews. The guy's had an amazing career. The occasion is his 50th year in the industry so I don't want to focus on Valiant, per se. But at the same time, I don't necessarily want him to cover biography he may be tired of telling.

It's his day, I'd like for him to talk about whatever he feels he'd like to say. And I'd like to mic and shoot it as professionally as possible. I'd hate to do the whole thing and find out the audio is lacking.
