Yeah, I just never really read the original as it never fit in with the VEI that I loved (I also wasnt into satire at the time, though I appreciate it now). So I have no particular attachment to the P + B run that draws me to this version. And at this point, I buy enough VALIANT to not feel obligated to buy it in support of the company.

I disagree. I think it'll be the worst debut issue VEI has had. There's a huge overlap in the first three demographics you mentioned, so much so that I don't think they can be considered separate. Q&W fans already know they're making Q&W comics again and sales are pretty sad so far. Priest and Bright have their fans, but I think the draw there is negligible. That coupled with the fact that it's out of current continuity miniseries make this one a dud from the get go, in my opinion. As always, I'd love to be proven wrong. I think Q2 is basically a bone-throw to Doc and Priest.

I'd agree there's some overlap in all the groups, but also a chance to spread out to the parts that don't overlap: some intrigued fans of the current Q&W, some lapsed classic fans coming back into the fold, and some VALIANT fans who don't like the current Q&W but will dig the nostalgia of the classic version. On other boards it gets a lot of traffic. Priest has a lot of fans who will buy this who dont ordinarily read VALIANT as well.

If they didn't think Q2 would do well, I seriously doubt they'd be putting out the Omnibus.

I am buying it more out of support of the company than any true appreciation, even modest, for the Q&W run...any Q&W run.

If it wasn't for A&A being included, I might have passed on The Delinquents. Q&W is the one title I can really do without and not mind. Too bad, because I was very pleasantly surprised by Asmus' first arc and was poised to become a fan.

What bothers me most (there are a lot of things) is what the hell is Woody holding on to? The door handle is drawn and it's like a foot and half from where his hands are. :?

Maybe he also has limited fridge magnet powers :|

indie sales analysis for july

http://comicsbeat.com/indie-month-to-mo ... ll-archie/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

valiant get also pretty much thrashed in the commentaries. i really, really hope that the 2015 initiative can be the turnaround for the company in the eyes of fans and retailers.
i think the whole armor hunters x-over and mini-series relaunch strategy is a massive sales disappointment, saleswise. it's a pity, since it's pretty enjoyable. but the past year was one very confusing and sometimes frustrating publishing initiative for fans and retailers alike.
really, i mean, the numbers don't lie.

like i said, i really hope (and also believe) that 2015 could and should really serve as a relaunch of sorts. this is something which should be communicated in the proper way to retailers AND, very importantly, i'd also prefer only the very strong books to be released. it's better to have only top notch books on the stand every month, than having every major character being published however mediocre the results (i'm looking at q&w and shadowman here). i think now ithe most important thing is to win back the confidence of retailers.

i'm very, very curious about how "the valiant" will be ordered by retailers. i think, this will be a benchmark for the valiant next initiative.

No doom and gloom. Look at Archie! They were like #6 2 months ago. Now they're #12, or so. It's not really an indicator. Valiant, and others will be back up next month when DC doesn't abnormally take 40% marketshare with some silly gimmick month.
You don't see people groaning about Marvel not being #1 this month. Guess what, they will be again next month, and Valiant will be doing better as well.
No worries.

As a fan of the original Quantum & Woody, I'm glad that we get this resolution of sorts to the original series. And having just read it, I enjoyed the heck out of it. If I recall rightly, neither Priest nor Bright are active in comics these days, but that story was just fun from word go. They have not missed a beat, and this is definitely Priest's Woody, and not Asmus' Woody.

I know many are poo-poo'ing this title on principle, but, still, I hope everyone gives it a chance.
