I have never been to a Disney theme park.

My impression of the device he came up with to stop the drones was not that he previously spent years building a device that he just happens to need for this moment, but rather he had a creative flash & made something spur-of-the-moment out of various separate components/devices he keeps on his person - each of which was developed on its own, to its own purpose, at different times in his past. There is room to abuse this idea, for sure, but I didn't find anything too far fetched about it here. Its pretty cool actually. It does kind of equate Ninjak to the Batman/Iron Man/ tech genius stereotype... but he is a ninja. A NINJA! Thats just really cool.

That's my take too. I'm sure he has a bunch of little things on his person that he can MacGuyver into something useful, but it still felt a little too convenient. I'd much prefer if we had a basic idea of his inventory, and then see the writers whip those things into something useful. That would be much more satisfying. Chekhov's gun. Look it up.

I enjoyed this issue with one caveat.

I liked the insight into Ninjak's processes. And for me that sold me on his preparedness. He didn't spend several years building a single gadget, but acquiring several gadgets that in one moment he could use in combination - basically preparedness plus deep tactical thinking and amazing resources.

However, the Gilad crashing through the building thing was stupidly illogical and elicited a head-shake and sigh from me.

So Kindt does well on the one hand, and undermines his own writing at other moments.

I like the interactions between Ninjak and Gilad; great work there as usual.

Overall, goo stuff, slightly marred by one stupid action beat.

But why oh why does Ninjak not have his own book yet?!?

I liked the insight into Ninjak's processes. And for me that sold me on his preparedness. He didn't spend several years building a single gadget, but acquiring several gadgets that in one moment he could use in combination - basically preparedness plus deep tactical thinking and amazing resources....

But why oh why does Ninjak not have his own book yet?!?

I think I would have been sold on that scene if it had a few more panels where Gillie holds them off as Ninjak rushes into a small tech compartment and hurriedly rushes about amidst a plethora of gadgets, grabbing this, grabbing that, "Where is that bloody launcher?!"

A few panels where this snaps into place, a hand furiously working a rachet, snap, click, dial, twist "Got it!". Bursts through the door "Stand back!" Whoosh!

And of course, if he had his own book, the pages spent showing how he obtains all that cool gadgetry could have been there and supplanted with my above scenario in this issue.

I read it as he was thinking about all the gadgets he has and how they might be used to solve this problem. He's always prepared for any occasion. That's his thing. This was something he could never prepare for, so he improvised on the spot.

I once saw Tony Stark get trapped in a lab for 48 hours and build a completely robotic doppleganger of himself to escape, called it an an LMD (life model decoy).

Writers could get away with outlandish ideas when the audience was 10 years old.
