To be fair, it's not really the X-O's story. Not that I have a problem with that.greg wrote:The title is X-O Manowar, not Aric. While I think that swapping the stories being presented in the titles makes more sense for the title, I think the story of the Hunters going after the X-O armor is the central story that's the critical read to follow the other portions of the story (even if one does not follow X-O), so that's probably the reason for presenting things the way they have. Arguably, it would have been better to have the Armor Hunters mini as is, and put the X-O title on hiatus and presented the story being told as an Armor Hunters: Origins (or something similar) mini.
If you're not a *SQUEE*, you're okay with me.

Man, this book is awesome now. Venditti really simmered this one long and slow, but now that the stew is almost ready to eat, it's pretty frickin' awesome.
I felt this was the best issue of X-O to date. I am loving this Armor Hunters crossover.

Re: XO Manowar #26 Discussion
Let's not bring Shadowman into it, as the introduction of the Armor Hunters made me suddenly realize that the Deadside seems almost entirely Earth-centric--why aren't there the ghosts of dead aliens hanging around there? IS it only Earth-centric? This never really came up with the Vine for me, as I was willing to fathom that given they had some kind of universal conscious mind, they didn't really have an afterlife. And never really thought about it during Aric's conquest of Loam, either, though I guess I should have.bribri wrote:Does anyone else think the mask on Reebo's right should looks like a Shadowman mask? Might be a stretch, but it has a very similar cut, including the points around the mouth.
I suppose Deadside does serve as a nexus between universes like the one that contains Elysium, though, so maybe it will be elucidated in the future exactly where Deadside lies in the array of multiverses.
But it all made a bit more sense before they started crossing over into each other's universes. I mean, think about Eternal Warrior's first arc with all those House of the Earth, House of the Wild, House of the Wheel, etc. with a god for each. That has to all make sense with Shadowman's cosmology, as well, eventually. Like, where does Nergal play into it versus the pantheon of gods in Shadowman? Versus Baron Semedi?

Thought you didn't want to bring Shadowman into it?

Loved the issue. It was not at all what I was expecting, and exactly what I needed to care about these crazy aliens. Kudos to V-ditty for stepping away from Aric completely this issue and building the back story. Excellent issue!

I avoid the previews/solicitations so I had no idea to expect this story. I love this expanded universe! When Plant Death introduced other alien races, it was a nice way of tell us - We are not alone.
I'm very interested in seeing Vdiddy build the AH team and take down more X-Os. Its more fun than hanging out with MERO or Aric's countrymen in Nebraska

Could the Torment be secretly behind the Armor Hunters? Is all not quite as it seems?

A point I am tempted to agree with. Arguably not an easy jump on point to try and read about the Aric/X-O Manowar character...Phoenix8008 wrote:Don't get me wrong. I wonder if all 4 X-O issues of the crossover are going to do this? If so, why not have those issues as Armor Hunters #1-4 and the material actually showing Aric that is in the AH books be the actual X-O books? So much for "each section of the mini series is a complete story unto itself that doesn't require reading the other parts'. If there's no Aric, then it's technically true, but not real nice to someone that just wants to read Aric's story and not pick up the rest of the crossover.
@robertvenditti: @dallowspicer Thanks! You’ll get to follow Reebo and Malgam for the next two issues, too.
...I'm really pleased that we get to see more of how these characters started out!

Re: XO Manowar #26 Discussion
An enjoyable issue for me, but really, I do think the prequel that this appears to be to the main event should have been delivered via its own mini-series.
