Re: Armor Hunters is Coming...
So I was right about the mini; curious to see if we see X-O #0 as well, and i still would not be surprised to see Armorines sometime after that.
If we see 3 more ongoings next year, like this year, and Rai is one, Armorines could be a good fit for one of the others.

Presumably they are the Armor hunters in the image; some look pretty cool, one or two look pretty goofy to me.
If that is the team name, I am sure there are better. If not, curious to know what the team calls itself.

Re: Armor Hunters is Coming...
Per VEI's news section....
The most intriguing thing I'm reading in this little synopsis, is the part of "sworn to exterminate the armor and all like it", perhaps referencing more XO armor out there, and not Vine knockoff armor. I'm also assuming that since they're a strike team hunting the armor, they've done it in the past, so perhaps they've destroyed some XO armor (and their wearers)When Aric of Dacia returned to Earth with the stolen X-O Manowar armor of an alien race, he thought he finally found a weapon to guard the peace and kingdom he’d struggled so long to secure. But now, a relentless and surgical strike team from the farthest reaches of space – sworn to exterminate the armor and all like it – have found their final target. The ARMOR HUNTERS are coming. They will hunt. They will trap. They will kill. And they will rid the universe of the X-O Manowar’s incalculable destructive power…even if it means taking the Earth with it.

If they follow a similar pattern to Harbinger Wars, I'd expect XO #0 to follow the event (like Bloodshot #0) and Armorines to either spin out of the event or become a stalwart in another book (like HARD Corps).leonmallett wrote:So I was right about the mini; curious to see if we see X-O #0 as well, and i still would not be surprised to see Armorines sometime after that.

Well everyone knows #1 issues sell best, so logically releasing a "new #1" every now and then and making it accessible to new readers is a pretty solid way to expand your fanbase...in fact it's pretty much the only way for a company with no movie deals

Now there's more detail about Armour Hunters I'm very interested in the concept of having beings from different parts of the universe band together to hunt XO Manowar armour! I'm 100% confident VDitti will nail this mini series and live up to the hype!

I also wonder that since these Armor Hunters will have presumed back-story, will they get a #0...?BugsySig wrote:If they follow a similar pattern to Harbinger Wars, I'd expect XO #0 to follow the event (like Bloodshot #0) and Armorines to either spin out of the event or become a stalwart in another book (like HARD Corps).leonmallett wrote:So I was right about the mini; curious to see if we see X-O #0 as well, and i still would not be surprised to see Armorines sometime after that.

Re: Armor Hunters is Coming...
Sounds like V-Ditti is going to use issue #25 to explore the origin of the armor, rather than a zero issue... but who can say. A&A, Harby, and Bshot will all have more than one zero issue, I'm sure they can find a way to give X-O one.

It does mention, though, that this is their final target, so one would presume that they have destroyed all others.Aomalle27 wrote:Per VEI's news section....

since according to V-Ditti the title of the book is about the armor, you'd think they should be able to make an X-O Manowar #0 and an X-O Manowar: Aric of Dacia #0Keith wrote:A&A, Harby, and Bshot will all have more than one zero issue, I'm sure they can find a way to give X-O one.

From the ComicVine article: XO #24: SPOILERS
So they are really taking Aric in a cosmic direction. I like it.Aric of Dacia, a fifth-century warrior bonded to alien armor and transplanted to the modern day, is now the most important weapon in the arsenal of M.E.R.O., the top-secret American intelligence organization that monitors extraterrestrial life on Earth. In order to protect his people, Aric must undergo dangerous missions in space, but nothing can prepare him for the stunning secret that awaits him in the stars

Re: Armor Hunters is Coming...
One of the things that strikes me about this announcement and the prelude issues is the symmetry of the X-O series. Essentially, so far you can divide it into 2 parts of 3 acts. The first part, about him finding and using the armor to save his people, includes the first 3 arcs. The second part, about him adjusting to the modern world and learning how the world has changed, includes the lead in to unity, the unity tie-in, and armor hunters. What also strikes me is the symmetry of the actual length of the parts. Both begin with 2 4-issue arcs, then a 2-issue prelude to what is considered a big 'event' for the final act (remember, Planet Death was billed as an event without any tie-ins).
Also, love the designs for the Armor Hunters.

That would be one way of getting him off Earth where he's a major destabilizing element.BugsySig wrote:From the ComicVine article: XO #24: SPOILERS

The thing that interests me is that one of them in the interview said something about widespread consequenses for thousands or millions in the Valiant Universe. If this means lots of damage/destruction on Earth, I hope VEI takes the opportunity to do it better than Marvel/DC and continue to show the after effects of the attack across multiple titles for a while into the future. Not just reset everything to how it was at the start of the event.

Re: Armor Hunters is Coming...
yes! Completely agree. I think Warren referenced Independence Day in one of the interviews ... that's fine. I don't like that movie but I do welcome catastrophic consequences and events in a world of super beings that changes the status quo for good. It sort of bothers me as it is that they are trying to make this present day world similar to ours despite the fact that supernatural, mystical things have been happening since the dawn of man.Phoenix8008 wrote:That would be one way of getting him off Earth where he's a major destabilizing element.BugsySig wrote:From the ComicVine article: XO #24: SPOILERS

Re: Armor Hunters is Coming...
The armour hunters look pretty cool I think.
Except the purple rubber dinosaur. I half expect it to start dancing at any moment (please tell me you know about Barney the Dinosaur in the states...)
And Aric's sword looks awful.
Other than that, this idea for armour hunters sounds pretty interesting and more importantly, will be a lot of fun. Although knowing a little more about it now, it seems to me considerably less likely that Armourines is going to be revived as a direct consequence of Armour Hunters.

Re: Armor Hunters is Coming...
His quote of the armor being the main character of the book since that is the book's title bothers me. It reminds me of a quote I read once from Bob Layton about VH1 X-O and his work on Iron Man, (to paraphrase), in that, even though the book was called Iron Man, the story was never about the armor, it was about the man inside the armor and thus your stories should stem from that.mateo107 wrote:since according to V-Ditti the title of the book is about the armor, you'd think they should be able to make an X-O Manowar #0 and an X-O Manowar: Aric of Dacia #0Keith wrote:A&A, Harby, and Bshot will all have more than one zero issue, I'm sure they can find a way to give X-O one.
V-Ditti has done an excellent job, I think, in portraying Aric's character but still, this shift in focus disturbs me. The idea behind Armor Hunters sounds very interesting though and their character designs are exciting.

Unless of course these are alien anti-heroes; but then to make use of these as future potential leads, they would need a less limiting name than Armor Hunters...
