I like how the barrel on that gun is plugged...
I don't have my glasses on but it doesn't look plugged to me.

Are you looking at the gas tube sleeve which is under the barrel?
Nope! Looking at the barrel (top cylinder), just under the front sight. The "hole" (inside of the barrel) should be all black. not light colored with a hint of shadow at the top.

Another indicator would be that the top cylinder (the barrel) should not have the same shadow profile as the bottom (glass tube sleeve, as you say).

Of course, in a movie you wouldn't be able to tell, because movement would obscure the perspective.

I never really cared for the original Ninjak either. I did like the approach Acclaim took with Colin King though. Seemed more fitting for the character as well.

Ninjak is not a strong concept for a book. It's much better as a background element used very sparingly.

Ninjak has potential, I don't think he was utilized well enough on the last 2 runs. I do see potential there though.

I agree - more toward the Stormshadow/Snake Eyes, less toward the Acclaim Ninjak.

I have read the whole Ninjak run and based solely on that, I would disagree.

After having heard some abandoned story ideas, I must agree.

Question: What if James Bond was also a ninja?

Answer: That sounds pretty darn awesome.

As always, execution is everything.

It was called "You Only Live Twice"

What if they geared Ninjak more towards the mystical side of things to have another 'magic' type character besides Shadowman? So they don't have to do another run of Dr Mirage to get that second 'magickal' character. Mystic type Ninja instead of tech based/James Bond ninja could be interesting. Or even combining the old and the new of mysticism and the tech equipment?

Dr. Mirage is better than Ninjak IMO, at least the old reads. I hope they do use him, not neccessary to make it a top priority but still use him all the same. Another cool character with alot of potential. I actually really enjoyed reading that short run.

Judging from their Facebook page, VEI really has a lot of enthusiasm for what they're doing at the moment. :thumb:

Back in the day, I thought Larry Hama would be great choice to write Ninjak based on his Snake Eyes/Storm Shadow development in the GI Joe comics.

If their big gun is Ninjak they are in alot of trouble. An awful 1st run coupled with the selling power of ninja/spy stories (?!?!) makes me wonder why they'd go with Ninjak. Plus is it really going to make comic buyers remember the first Valiant? They'll just look like another new company who have misjudged the market if they aren't careful.

You make some good points, Ian. Other than the fantastic Quesada artwork early on, the title really didn't have much else going for it. The Acclaim version came along and it was even worse. Makes you wonder what it is about the character that makes him "one of their favorites".

Yeah, Ninjak sucks!!!

Ok, I'll fess up... I kinda liked the Acclaim/Kurt Busiek Ninjak. I thought it was lighthearted fun.

My LCS told me that Ninjak was their second best selling Acclaim title (after Quantum & Woody).
