I've enjoyed what I've read of the Solar and Magnus stuff, even though I felt that Solar had a rough start, but it was getting better. What saddens me the most is that I think Shooter is brilliant when it comes to multi issue plot development, if not individual issue writing today, and this may have been the last chance of his career to do something on a large scale level. It's too bad to see it cut short.

Wow. I havent been following but I will say that I was really really into the line when it first came out. The delays lt my mind wonder and I just planned on buying a bunch of the line at once later on.

I wonder if sales jumped up for the last few issues if they would re-consider?

I doubt it.

Classic Media is/was wanting more money from DH and supposedly creatively interfering in the books (probably wanting things that Shooter didn't want).

Combined with Dark Horse's *SQUEE*-poor marketing of the titles, they were all over-priced, Shooter's less than stellar writing at the start, lackluster art, crappy shipping and you got a recipe for cancellation.

I was wanting to be proven wrong here but I wasn't.

very bad news. :( I missed out on Valiant back in the day, and felt this was kind of like a second chance. I supported it, even though it was constantly late. Too bad the Solar origin story will never get published in its entirety now.

Now, wait a minute. I'm a bag of hammers. The lines are canceled, right? But solicitations into August still exist? Or these are outdated, or... what?

(Already checked the Solar solicitation three times...)

I've been enjoying these - they've been getting better each month. Maybe it was a case of people not sticking around long enough, or maybe the delays were a major issue... either way, it's too bad. (If definitely true, that is -- I haven't seen official word from Dark Horse.)

I don't get the point of this thread that it's over. There has been no official announcement of the books being cancelled. I've been told some things and have posted on it, but Mike Richardson and line editor Chris Warner have made no public announcements yet.

Hi Jason,

The books are going on hiatus, Hiatus may refer to: Recess (break); Hiatus, a small difference in pitch between two musical tones

but are not gone for good. Of the current titles, Dr. Solar will run through issue #8, and Magnus, Turok, and Samson will each run through #4, finishing off story arcs and with all the material slated to be collected in trade-paperback form. Stay tuned for future announcements.

Thanks for your support!

Woo hoo!

Best news I've heard all day. Thanks for the confirmation.

Since Chris is Chris Warner, the editor of the books, I'd say that's probably true (at least as far as he knows now). I hope we can get the next plotlines on Magnus and Solar when they come back from haitus (which I suspect in this case may mean "getting our $&!% in order so we can put out comics on a regular schedule")

According to Chris Warner (love that last name) that intel was not supposed to have been made public at this time. He asked me to hold his confidence and I did so but for whatever reason Spider made it public. Let's hope it doesn't cause any damage going forward as the intel was supposed to come in the form of an official Dark Horse press release.

At the very least, DH seems to be re- assessing it's commitment to these characters, but it seems Shooter is definately out after reading comments from JayJay and others.
