On eBay, if you don't pay for an auction, REGARDLESS of the reason, you receive a strike. Back in the bad old days, three strikes, and you were GONE.Jason4u0075 wrote:What happened?
As well, it doesn't matter over WHAT period those strikes happen, even over years...because eBay is a stupid corporation, for the most part.
So, when I refused to pay the guy who wanted to charge $5 PER AUCTION for 9 different comics...yes, that's right, $45 to ship 9 comics....and when I refused to pay the guy who wanted to charge me a "Paypal convenience fee", even though that's forbidden according to eBay's rules....and when I refused to pay the guy who wanted to charge $2 extra per book (you get the idea)....this was from late 1998 to late 2003, mind....
So, my buying account was booted. When an account is booted, they look for other accounts that have the same name/address....and there went my beloved selling account.....
...and I've never sold on eBay since. (Sept-ish 2003.)
Since then, though, I have had several eBay buying accounts, and have no qualms about it. I have zero ethical problems with violating eBay's rules, because they don't follow them themselves.
If they don't, why should anyone else, so long as the law and general ethics are being followed?
