Oh cool, thanks for the heads up. I've never checked out their board before. I think I'm going to send in my Solar and Magnus next. I really like how these turned out. Thanks for everyone's help and advice with these!IanAlexavier wrote:schnuth wrote:I got my first batch of binds back today from Library Binding, and color me impressed!http://twitpic.com/stg38 I also got the Archer & Armstrong logo die on the front cover, but don't have anything on the covers of Harby or Unity. I'll be posting more detailed pics over on my blog at http://schnuth.com soon.
I think I'm going to send off Magnus and Solar next since I just finished up putting together reader sets of those. I can already tell this is going to get really addictive really quick!
Looks GREAT!!
You might want to stop by the Valiant Collectors Society to see what they are doing with bound books..
Im going to be sending in 2nd and 3rd volumes just in case VCS decides to do a project with the volume 1 books... if that makes any sense LOL
Welcome to the addiction

I got my second order back from Library Binding today. Here's a quick photo with my phone. The Morituri isn't Valiant and it's actually dark blue but it looks black in the photo.

These came out really nice again. They took a little longer because they were closed down for Xmas, but that gave me more time to get my next binds together. Can you say addicted boys and girls?

I've read the first few issues of Morituri. It was actually kind of cool.schnuth wrote:I got my second order back from Library Binding today. Here's a quick photo with my phone. The Morituri isn't Valiant and it's actually dark blue but it looks black in the photo.

The obligatory map request.
How did you split up your books (what issues are in each)?
And did you remove ads and back covers, especially on the Morituri book? That one looks like a monster. How thick is it?
Other than that, the books look great. 10 Valiants down; 38 to go.
(I'm keeping track for you!

For the Valiant binds I followed the maps here on the board. For the Morituri book I just bound the whole series and then the Electric Undertow mini series after it. From what I could tell this was all there ever was of Morituri. I remember enjoying it back in the day but never read the whole thing, so we'll see soon if it still holds up all these years later.Steve Topper wrote:The obligatory map request.

I didn't remove any ads out of laziness, and I actually like looking at the old ads. The Morituri bind came in just at or just under 3 inches as there wasn't any extra charge. It was 36 issues in all. I could've split it up into a couple volumes but the books were dirt cheap and I wanted to bind all of Magnus and Solar.
For Solar I removed the Alpha Omega story from the first 10 issues and then bound the trade into the front instead.
I think the next ones I send off are going to be X-O, Eternal Warrior, and Rai in a few weeks.

Yeppers! I prep it exactly as I want it bound. You can take away or add whatever you want... just dont expect them to do it. I will admit that my first time I sent mine in I was a bit paranoid and wasnt sure what to expect so I gave them a list of instructions LOL..Tim wrote:So, question....I'm going to get my Unity Saga Trades all bound together, so if I want the covers gone and the blank pages inside and the foreword gone do I just have to remove those parts before I send to Library Binding Co.?
Now I just send them in and use the sheet they want used.

Been to a few book binders, they all charge £30.
But found a nice chap, very central.
SO I have had some practice on the hot foil machine I got off ebay.
HAve a few cloth suppliers names
Now I am going to the book binders today to chat ~ (and pick up a bike wheel from the shop next door.)
He does open door workshop, so next thursday /# I am going to learn to bind books. Rather than fumble through it and learn myself, might aswell get some help.

But once that is done, I am sure I will find more.

Just came back with my wheel.
Spoke to the guy, showed him the VCS example, and also archer and armstrong 26 as an example of a flip book.
AAAAAAaahhh Just forgot to ask him about trimming. Stupid Stupid rat creatures.
He is really positive, I can add in certificates, prints, and because it is hand bound, their is less loss of the art in the spine. ( not that that effects early valiants, due to the standard pannel set up).
