I still believe that CGC significantly loosened their requirements for CGC 9.8 for this book.

Yes, there should be more than 18 (or whatever the count was when the sales were $2,000+)...
but moving up to 62 in a very short period of time and at a frequency
much higher than at any time in the past is indicative that standards changed.

I've got a small stack of CGC 9.6 of this book...
I wonder how many would be CGC 9.8 if I resubmit?

:hm:

Here's a fun experiment...

When there were 18 copies of Harbinger #1 CGC 9.8,
there were a couple of sales at $2,000+, but the "going rate"
was probably closer to $1,000 or $1,200 if you average the
sales before and after the top of the spike.

18 times $1,200 = $21,600

Now there are 62 copies of Harbinger #1 CGC 9.8

$21,600 divided by 62 = $348

What is the current price of CGC 9.8 Harbinger #1? Is it about $348? :hm: :thumb:

No, it means that if 61 are destroyed and no others are added to the census, the last one will be worth $21,600.

This was listed by thelatinsensation yesterday with $9.99 starting price with no reserve. This is a good test for the current market price.

I like to see this, but im guessing it will either get pulled and relisted, or bumped up to $300-400 anyway.

Good guess, $393.88. Guess I will have to happy with my 9.8 sans coupon, too rich for my blood still.

latinsensation listed another copy for sale but the serial number is the same as the one he listed recently. I send him a message to see if the sale fell thru. Will share when he replies.

So either a buyer who decided against, or a case of shill bidding, which is probably not too uncommon on items like this.

Got a reply from the seller. He said it's a different copy. He's just using the same pic.

He sent me a scan on the day the listing ended and book looked excellent. It was in an old style inner well and I couldn't see anything with the corners or spine.
