Valiant Ones,

I kinda got sidetracked while working on my 4000 AD - 4020 AD Future Valiant History project and started working on mapping all the Pre-Unity Valiants chronologically. I'm going to bind several collections together chronologically by time period, since it's all 1 big story anyway! (All ads and back covers will be removed)

Valiant Universe Vol. 1: 1990 - 1991
SOLAR, MAN OF THE ATOM #0 - 4
HARBINGER FILES #1
HARBINGER #0
SOLAR, MAN OF THE ATOM #5 - 6
XO MANOWAR #0
SOLAR, MAN OF THE ATOM #7
XO MANOWAR #1 - 2
HARBINGER #1 - 4

Valiant Universe Vol. 2: 1992
SOLAR, MAN OF THE ATOM #8
XO MANOWAR #3 - 4
HARBINGER #5 - 7
SHADOWMAN #1 - 2
XO MANOWAR #5 - 6
SOLAR, MAN OF THE ATOM #9
SHADOWMAN #3
THE VALIANT ERA COMPANION #1
SOLAR, MAN OF THE ATOM #10 - 11

Valiant Universe Vol. 3: Unity
ARCHER & ARMSTRONG #0
UNITY #0
ETERNAL WARRIOR #1
ARCHER & ARMSTRONG #1
MAGNUS, ROBOTFIGHTER #15
XO MANOWAR #7
SHADOWMAN #4
RAI #6
HARBINGER #8
SOLAR, MAN OF THE ATOM #12
ETERNAL WARRIOR #2
ARCHER & ARMSTRONG #2
MAGNUS, ROBOTFIGHTER #16
XO MANOWAR #8
SHADOWMAN #5
RAI #7
HARBINGER #9
SOLAR #13
UNITY #1
UNITY: THE LOST CHAPTER #1

Any suggestions for a good binder? I am weighing several of them!

I was finally putting some new binds together this week (my first since LBC closed down) and one I sent off was my X-O run. I noticed while double checking that Solar 17 should be inserted after X-O 12, not 13. Just wanted to point that out! :thumb: Thanks again for this great resource! It's been a tremendous help with my binding projects.

Sweet, I made the change. I really appreciate you looking over the map before you send it out :thumb: Who did you send your book(s) out to? Let us know how you like the quality of work. I have about 10 books I need to eventually have bound.. they are just sitting in a box wrapped in plastic :(

No problem. I always try to check things over before sending them out. The big "Continued in Solar #17" box at the end of #12 clued me in when things didn't look quite right in #13. ;)

I bit the bullet and sent my X-O and Rai runs to Houchen. They have been getting some varied reviews, but I figured I'd chance it since they still honor LBC's prices and I'm cheap. I'll post impressions once I get them back.

Has anyone used Single Bound Studios AKA dpbanks.com for binding? I was checking into them and they seem reasonable.

Any help on this end? I think I am about 2 weeks away from sending in at least 3 to 4 books away to be bound, but I want them to look good and I really am concerned about longevity.

thanks,
MALEV

This is how I felt the first time I sent out books.. a bit scared. Maybe only send in 2 books the first time... then if you like what you see, send in more thereafter? Please let us know about the results! :thumb: :thumb:

You can trust David implicitly. I have several from him and they are among the best bound books I have. I used Library Binding for most of my binds because of price point. They provided a decent product for a good price. Single Bound Studios provides an outstanding product for a decent price. You pay more through David but quality-wise I haven't seen a better product.

Question for you all in relation to future binding plans. Just double checking this, but doesn't the Magnus-Invasion TPB reprint Magnus issues 5-8 including the flipped Rai 1-4, right?

I'm considering just buying the TPB instead of having to cut the books in half and flip them. Especially since I think I remember there is one page that has Magnus/Rai stuff on both sides of the same page. But I want to make sure that the TPB has what I need first.

Can anybody confirm this for me? Thanks for your time.

Not sure about the trade..but, yes, there is one page that you would need to copy.. or at least that is what I did. Mine came out fine.

Yep! The last page of the Magnus story in Magnus #5 and the last page of the Rai story in Magnus #5 are printed on the back of each other and upside down! The Magnus trade paperback has it in the correct order, but I am not sure about if the tpb paper will be okay when bound with the regular comics. I think they are a little bit shorter actually.

If you copy it, what kind of paper would you use? I'd hate to have this flimsy little paper in my book. I'm all about uniformity!!

I'm still trying to work my way around this issue for my future valiant binding!!

I found that when I use real nice paper.. it just doesnt match.. at least in those early issues. I just used some paper that felt similar and felt as thick. Find a nice copier/scanner and print one up to see how you like it. Actually I think I just scanned mine. Although I like to be uniform and such, I know that there will not be many people reading this book and those that read it wont be too picky. :thumb:

Was there any final word on where to put Secrets of The Valiant Universe #3 [Rai Issue] in the Rai Collection? My best guess would be after Rai #28 this way its FEB like Rai #29 and brings a good breaking point during the storyline. My other idea would be to fit it somewhere around unity, anyone run into this issue yet?

I noticed that I stated in my Map of Rai Book 2 that it MIGHT go there somewhere.

Moon, what do you think?? It looks undecided right now but that might be exactly where it goes.. Let us know :thumb: :thumb:

I think best thing to do would be to put it infront of RAI #29 FEB, flows best. Other idea would be to put it at the very end of the HC's.

Ok, here's what I was looking for, so that story takes place before every RAI issue huh? Even though he ends up in the lost land and we dont find out what happens to him, interesting but makes sense.

Where should I put BloodShot #4 & 5 for the Malev War HC? Thanks for all the detailed info, you seem to be one of the rare ones who have payed attention to detail and shared it with us, thanks again. :thumb:
Malev_Emperor wrote: As far as Secrets of the Valiant Universe #3 goes, I have put that issue at the beginning of Book 1, since it chronologically takes place before the entire Rai series and concludes with Grandmother choosing the House of Nakadai as the successor to the Rai mantle.

Also, do not forget Bloodshot #4 & 5 - nice past/future story here featuring Future Gilad Ani-Padda that takes place during the Malev War. Also features Takao Konishi and Rentaro Nakadai! PLUS the Malev Emperor! I would not consider the Malev War storyline complete without it!!

If we'd got that RAI yearbook to finish the story I'd put it first too but since we didn't I'm going to put it in order of release date [FEB] or just at the end of the HC's. It's a tough one!

For the Malev War I came up with this: MAG 21 FEB, MAG 22 MAR, MAG 23 APR, MAG 24 MAY, RAI 9 MAY, BLOOD 4 MAY, MAG 25 JUN, RAI 10 JUN, RAI 11 JUL, BLOOD 5 JUN, MAG 26 JUL.

There is deff. some plot error or confusion when trying to put this together, best way I could make it flow was like this ^. Only BloodShot 5 is 1 month out of order to make it work the best it possibly can. Maybe I missed something, anyone get a chance to take a look at this timeline/plot confusion yet?

Why do you have Bloodshot titles in a Malev War run? That was all 4000 AD and the early Bloodshot titles were all in present day from what I remember. I have a listing for my Magnus/Rai/Psi-Lords future hardbacking and I know I don't have it listed to run any Bloodshot issues in there. Now you have me wondering what I missed! :?
