I know. Comicsyte95 had a great deal on a set last month that I missed out on, so I'm extra motivated to win this one.

May not be exactly HTF since they're all here...
But if anyone needs a Harbinger Bluebird Tpb or 4.

What a difference .6 makes. Is there that big of a gap in the 2 ratings? I'm showing my ignorance of grading I know, but curious.

And in case one of these is an error that the seller changes, the top is Magnus 12 CGC 9.8 $399 OBO, the bottom is Magnus 12 CGC 9.2 $29 OBO.

Ok, here's a 9.8 from another seller for $149 OBO, which is a bit closer to the above 9.2.

As an aside, and because I just like editing my posts, how does the Valiant relaunch impact prices on the Gold Key character books from VH1? Obviously, Rai and Eternal Warrior 1st appear in Magnus and Solar, so those issues may go up. But Magnus 12 - first appearance by a GK character in another GK character book, neither of which will be a part of the new VEI books. Just ruminating.

The one for $399 is a desperate attempt. A fair price would be $100 as listed in Greg's guide.

There is a big difference between a 9.8 and a 9.2 for the collector. The difference is a copy that is as perfect as can be realistically expected to one that has visible flaws. If you're not a collector then don't bother with CGC, just buy and read the raw and save yourself a lot of money.

Below is the GPA data. Not the best copy/paste format but you can decipher it easy enough.

CGC Census Links : census |
No. 12, Volume 1, 1st print, Valiant/Acclaim Comics (1992)

Ok, that price difference makes more sense if the 9.8 is priced at $100, as you said it should be. Posted before consulting the Guide, so I wasn't sure what the going rate for Magnus 12 was. If I'm going to spend $400 on a key Valiant, Magnus 12 is not it.

And I agree with you about staying away from CGC books - I know they are there and occasionally I'm curious about them, but I don't really have anything to do with them. Kind of like most of my relatives. :)

I actually do see a few in my future - mostly absolute favorite issues/covers, like Solar 3. Just trying to hold off until the rest of my list has been checked off.

I remember John (svair) had a bunch of these available on eBay for a long time, my guess is he still might have copies somewhere, as well. I remember lugging a case of these around NYC way back when they were done.

I didn't know PGX had a SS.

Sounds risky and expensive for this book.

To paraphrase Martin Luther, wherever CGC builds a church, PGX will build a chapel. PGX is forever CGC's ape.
