Re: 33 Volumes and counting . . .
So I mailed off my Magnus books. A little similiar to above, but with some slight twist.Steve Topper wrote:I just sent another set of six books for binding to Library Binding. This shipment contains:
-- four volumes of Magnus Robot Fighter
Book 1 - Magnus Robot Fighter 0-20 (748 pages)
This also involves splitting up Magnus 5-8 and flipping the Rai sections so that the complete Invasion storyline reads correctly
Book 2 - The Malev War (This is a BIG ONE! -- 1080 pages)
Magnus Robot Fighter 21 - 24, Rai and the Future Force(RFF) 9, 25, RFF 10 - 11, 26 - 29, RFF15, 30, RFF 16, 31, RFF 17, 32 - 33, RFF 18, 34, RFF19, 35, RFF 20, 36, RFF 21, 37, RFF 22 - 23, 38
Book 3 - The Rest of *VALIANT (1991-1996)* Magnus (1060 pages)
Magnus Robot Fighter 39 - 40
Magnus Yearbook 1
Magnus Robot Fighter 41 - 42
Chaos Effect Epilogue 1 - 2
Magnus Robot Fighter 43 - 64
Book 4 - Crossovers and *Acclaim (1997 series)* (792 pages)
Magnus/Nexus 1 - 2
Predator vs Magnus 1 - 2
Magnus Robot Fighter v2 1 - 18
Vol 1
Magnus 0-20
Mag/Pred
Mag/Nex
Magnus Yearbook
Vintage Mag
Orginal Mag
Vol 2
Pretty much the same, but I added additional RFF as I liked having them
in there to fill in background information on the rift between Mag and Rai.
Vol 3
Pretty much the same minus the yearbook, and I added CEA and CEO as I felt it filled in the tie in issue and completed the tranistion to the CE Epilogue.
Needless to say I am pretty excited, and thanks to go out to Steve as I appreciated his help. Also, thanks to Elveen as well for helping me out with Orginal Mag and Mag 58.
I sent in the Unity as well with a twist as I am having the Wizard Valiant Special and Valiant reader bound in at the back of it.
Identity Crisis (all Turner 3rd Printings) with Flash tie-ins and JLA tie ins.

Just curious, but did you go ahead and keep the smaller series like Geomancer and Armorines in seperate bindings, or combine them into a larger volume? I've heard various opinions on that.IanAlexavier wrote:Well... I just got my shipment of books back!! Im so geeked LOL
This is what I receive:
Magnus Book 1
Archer and Armstrong
Timewalker
Turok Book 1
Turok Book 2
The Second Life of Dr Mirage
The books I already have are:
Armorines
Geomancer
Psi Lords
Thats 9 all together
Go me! LOL
I finally got the call today that my first ever order is done with Library Binding. Nothing Valiant, but I'm pretty excited. It was my anniversary gift from my wife, who over the past 12 years of marriage has heard me whine about getting books bound for at least 4 of them, so we finally went for it!

Im excited for you!! For me it takes about 5 days for the books to be delivered once you pay for them. You will have such a big smile on your face when you see that box waiting for you!!turborip wrote:Just curious, but did you go ahead and keep the smaller series like Geomancer and Armorines in seperate bindings, or combine them into a larger volume? Regarding combining certain series: I did not... but you should!! LOL.. Geomance and Psi Lords would be the 2 you should put together. Even Armorines and perhaps The Visitor would go well together. If you wanted to get fancy you could make them flip books

So go ahead and combine them if you dont mind them being together. If you want them seperate just let me know and I would be willing to sell you mine so I can get the combined book

One day i want to post a picture of the worst bound book i've ever seen for you guys. it's a my son's school library and they took a meridian #1 and ripped it apart, then put it in a folder that had plastic sleeve pages. i think that they are missing 3 or 4 pages in it.
i'm really considering binding my dr mirage books. it'd make a nice reference book.

As promised....pictures!
(Apologies in advance that these are not Valiant books, but there seemed to be interest anyways)

I have to say, these are way cooler than I could even have anticipated, even after all my research! Just to have some really neat storylines in a more concise format rather than fish them out of boxes was worth it alone. I went absolutely no frills with standard lettering and I still think they came out awesome. I think the lining up of the panel lines with the publisher came out nice and I experimented with various color combinations for the lettering and the buckrum covers, as well as lettering placement.
Just to give you an idea of what I did:

Green Lantern - Beyond Rebirth is issues 1-20 of the current series. I have the Rebirth trade, as well as the first Sinestro Corps War hardcover. This is everything in between. I chose green buckrum with white lettering, in the hope of capturing the Green Lantern color scheme. There's a bit more gutter loss in the center than I anticipated but it's not surprising. This is the larger volume of the batch at about 1 1/2" thick.

Green Lantern Corps - Recharge Plus was the name I gave this volume, as it has the Recharge mini-series 1-5 as well as the regular series 1-13, again leading up to the Sinestro Corps War. I went ahead and included Blue Beetle 20, as it was left out of the Sinestro HC's, and I thought it made a cool little Corps side story, plus I don't plan on ever doing a Blue Beetle volume. Also done in green buckrum with white lettering. Slightly smaller than the GL volume, but still over 1 1/4"

The Janus Directive was my baby and the first experiment I really wanted to do with binding a combination of issues of items that had never been collected. I put all 11 issues in order as they were tagged, though I also added Firestorm 87 before Captain Atom 11. Even though it's not tagged as part of the crossover, it quite frankly adds a much needed epilogue that Captain Atom 30 does not provide and fits in nicely between parts 10 and 11. Twelve issues was a little small for how I wanted to do this binding so I added the Peacemaker 4 issue mini-series since the Janus Directive is what turned me on to that character. I also realized I had both Captain Atom annuals from that era and since I had nothing else from that character's series, I included them as appedices. They feature some characters like Major Force that were part of the Janus Directive, so I thought it would add some nice extra features. I went for black buckram with gold lettering. No
gutter loss here, even at 1 1/2" thick.
My mapping of this volume:
Checkmate 15
Suicide Squad 27
Checkmate 16
Suicide Squad 28
Checkmate 17
Manhunter 14
Firestorm 86
Suicide Squad 29
Checkmate 18
Suicide Squad 30
Firestorm 87
Captain Atom 30
Peacemaker 1-4
Captain Atom Annuals 1, 2

Atlantis Chronicles was my experiment in a smaller volume. Even though its only seven issues, they were double-sized so they made a decent size volume at about an inch thick. I went for light green buckrum with blue lettering, hoping for an ocean color effect. In retrospect, I wish I had reversed my color scheme and gone light green lettering on blue buckrum or perhaps a teal buckrum with maybe green lettering for that effect, but my wife really digs this volume as it is and this was her favorite of the choices I made.
Honestly, as I build up the budget, I'm going to convert the majority of my collection into volumes like this. I've already got some Justice League, JLI, Batman and many others already lined up! Beyond that, I plan on Valiant and some other Dead Universe volumes that will blow your mind!

Welcome to the new addiction LOL Not really..
Your books looks great!! Its fun trying to figure out exactly what YOU want in a book.
I sat down last night and started reading through my TimeWalker book. Its so nice to lay that ribbon in the book where I left off and come back to the book whenever I wish
