Am I just crazy that I don't think this was a steal AT ALL? Or, am I just stuck in the 'I've been paying $30 for all these books for so long' mode?

Makes me think that bidder was lucky to use the Buy It Now. (But how long it remains a "good luck grab" depends on the price the books will stay at, etc)
<clutches heart>...this is the big one, 'lizbeth! I'm comin' home, honey!
Holy CHRIST.
How is it that I managed to buy 22 copies of Harb #1 for an average of $10 each in March? UNbelieveable.

You weren't paying attention. MHC.com. X-O and I talked about it. CKB wanted to buy them from me.greg wrote:How exactly did you do that?ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:How is it that I managed to buy 22 copies of Harb #1 for an average of $10 each in March? UNbelieveable.
Even the "10-issue-lots" on Ebay (pre-screened below 9.6) netted $20 each.

We chatted about it then, it's still in a buried thread somewhere. Someone got mad at me for clearing MHC out.

I got mine for @4.25 each as they had the 50% sale just before they raised the prices.ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:You weren't paying attention. MHC.com. X-O and I talked about it. Well, like I said, it all depends on what price it stabilizes at.ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:The Spider wrote:I didn't think it was a good deal initially, but looking at something like this:ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:So....I opened the link thinking it was this some sort of steal....and thought...eh. Now, big news would be if these Harbinger issues end up going for prices that were listed in, say, 1992-93 WIZARDs.

Hmmm...
Mile High Comics is a "risk / reward" company...
If you take a risk...
like buying Harbinger 1 when they don't know what the coupon looks like...
(they even call it a "card")
Then you might get:
Harbinger 1 with the coupon
Harbinger 1 with half the coupon slip, because the coupon is cut out
Harbinger 1 without coupon, or any traces of a coupon
...or...
Any combination of the above ...
...with actual grades of VG to NM (even though they're all called "NM")
...THEN...
If somehow after all that, you still end up with 22 copies in NM with coupon, CONGRATULATIONS!

You take a big risk, you might get a big reward.
I'm too scared to play the Mile High Comics lottery for books over $1.50.

Eh HEH. Oh ye of little faith. Thinking I was making it up 'out of the blue'.greg wrote:Oh, I remember your story now...ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:You weren't paying attention. MHC.com. You are ABSOLUTELY correct. And 3 of the copies had the dreaded 'spine tear' that's common with these books....these are 3/4"! So, make that 19 NM copies. And YES, I checked every single one of them, by hand, when I got them in...Hmmm...

'I can hear them....they're very, very afraid of me'.....
(or, something real close to that.

TRUST me...if they lacked coupons, (A) I would have sent the first batch back, and (B) I wouldn't have bought the second batch.
