This is one of the reasons why I never buy or keep much modern CGC books. Their value usually don't hold for long. Currently my CGC collection is mainly 80% Silver Age, 19% Bronze Age and 1% Modern which is just my 9.8 X-O Manowar #1 that I submitted myself back in 2005. The only reason I kept that book is for sentimental value since X-O Manowar and Harbinger are my favorite Pre-Unity titles.

I've never understood this either, even sellers who to refuse to ship to Canada. There's a lot of buyers you eliminate, especially considering the Canadian economy has been pretty strong relatively speaking during this recession.magnusr wrote:"No foreign bids"iggy101us wrote:Just ended at $32 . . . . that's right, $32 only.iggy101us wrote:This was listed last night. I can understand why, foreign bidders *SQUEE* and moan about shipping costs when it's time to pay. To have a tracking number w/global priority for 1 comic even to canada, is, I believe nearly $30 or more. So most people will not pay for the tracking and you can easily get scammed out of item and money.

Guess it depends on the audience for the items one is selling. For this auction obviously one single bidder more could have made a huge difference. As it ended I'm glad a board member got a good deal. It should have been multiples higher.maraxusofkeld wrote:I am not trying to be rude or anything, but that's what has happend to me time and time again on ebay and I wasnt getting any considerable price increases, it's just easier not to sell outside the US.
As you say, the shipping options as recommended (required?) by ebay have gone up a lot. It is a problem, but that does not excuse buyers who complain afterwards. Once you have bid, you have accepted the shipping costs. Pity if a few spoils for all.

The rate hikes a few weeks ago made it worse. If you stay under four pounds and use First Class it can be tolerable. But eBay will not allow a seller to ship first class from the eBay/Paypal web pages. That's why all you usually see is Prioirty Mail.magnusr wrote:Guess it depends on the audience for the items one is selling. Also, the customs forms are a pain. Most sellers aren't serious or saavy enough to get the USPS Shipping Assistant software to make it easier for First Class.
I ship so many Toon Tumbler glasses international none of it bothers me anymore.
