None of the ones I got were bagged. And I didn't see a Magnus-Steel Nation or a Rai companion there unfortunately.Smashey wrote:cheap is always the way to go lol. So....after 18 years....my X-Men collection is finally complete.....

So, yeah, it's beat to hell...but hey, it's complete, colors are still nice, and it was $75.
On eBay, it'd be $250, easy. These suckers always sell for stupid money.
So yeah, #1-up....finally.

Marvel Premiere #57-60 and Dr. Who #1-23 all in strict NM shape, very pleased with this lot.

I think this is a run that is undervalued, and will go up. Think about it, how many of these books, like many Valiants, sat in quarter bins?

I've got MP57 in 9.6 that I just picked up for about $18 shipped. I'm thinking about going for a full set of all these in 9.6 or better. I see potential on these.
Biased, maybe?

You know, I actually saw the book on Friday, but didn't have time to examine it. I kept thinking about it, though, and thought "if it's complete....it'd be a $200-$300 book on eBay, easy."Escaflown4 wrote:Congrats Zeph! So yeah, #1-up....finally.when I finally got my copy.
Sure enough, I looked at it...it was complete, despite massive tearing and wear...and the page quality is excellent...so...I bought it.
When I did....I actually was pretty thrilled and excited....something I haven't felt when buying a comic in a LONG, LONG time....except for the Albedo #2....I really miss that feeling. It used to happen all the time, getting excited and giddy about buying comics....now, especially with eBay's constant parade of overgraded garbage, it's lost its joy, the excitement, and has now become more of a dread than anything else. "What did I get that's been overgraded THIS time....?"
So yeah, last night, I got back a little of that old feeling again...I hadn't even expected it, but there it was. Kinda nice.
No, not at all...it's in excellent shape, paper quality-wise. There's no tanning at ALL, and the chips out of the sides are just because someone treated it roughly. I have no doubt this was a rolled up copy that someone stuck in their back pocket. You planning on slabbing it? That book looks like it'll fall apart soon. The slab might help preserve it a little longer.
When I got it, it had been covered with wax paper, which was then taped closed over it, like a book cover. I think that preserved the paper's integrity. It can easily be thumbed through with absolutely no fear of losing more pieces. The cover's even got a stunning amount of gloss for this condition, and there's no color loss whatsoever.
It was just treated very, very roughly.
One of the reasons I bought this was because, while there's about 1/3 of the back cover missing, the front cover, and all design elements, are intact, including the issue/date box, the logo, the logo box, the price, all main characters, and all wording on the cover.
That can make or break a copy in these lower grades. A book without the issue number, for example, might sell for only half as much as the same book, in the same general condition, with the issue number still there.
This is also the first time I've been able to study the cover up close for lengthy periods of time....I've seen the cover a million times, but never in the comfort of my own home, to examine. I never noticed, for example, that the Beast has furry legs (ditched soon thereafter, revived in Amazing Adventures #11), and Angel is carrying what looks like a large pipe (that's it...let's attack Magneto with IRON! There's an idea!), and Iceman is throwing....well....snowballs. Way to go, Bobby.
Meanwhile, poor lil' ol' Marvel Girl is off in the distance, looking stressed and worried....and doing nothing.
Subtle sexism, indeed.....

Yeah, that was my first thought as well....but then I looked, and there's no harness, no trigger...if you look, Angel's right hand is on the BACK of the "thing", which is how one would hold something that they intend to BASH someone with....certainly not how one holds a bazooka.Dr. Solar wrote:I always thought Angel was holding a bazooka (equally strange).

Not a screaming deal, but still noteworthy.

99 cent bid, $3 shipping. The lot came in today with a $6.55 shipping label.
I left that poor slob the highest feedback rating I possibly could. My only complaint was that he taped the plastic sleeve shut and I had to very carefully cut that tape.
