I am now starting to add sketches into my bound books.
I took David Lapham up on his offer for sketches and got quite a few Valiant Related.
The first 2 are pretty self explanitory.

Though I cant decide if I should put them in my Unity Book or in one of the Magnus or Solar books respectively.

The next 4 are even cooler.
I had him draw Zeph, Flamingo, Torque and Kris each for my bound book.

I had him draw a sketch of pete as well you can see it in the Gallery Area.

But regardless I am super excited to put these sketches in to further personalize my bound books.

I'm thinking about getting all my DC Millenium Editions bound.

They have no ads, and if I take the covers out they'll look just like Archive Editions.

I'm not going to include all of them, though. No need for a WildCATS #1 or a Kingdom Come #1.

Everyone needs WildCATS #1, its like required reading for 90's excess.
Plus for some reason I loved that book and still do. Jim Lee art is most likely the draw.

I don't mind WildCATS but it wouldn't fit well with Detective #27, Action #1, Flash Comics #1 or things like that. It's a decent book, but it doesn't rank as high as those.

Neil,

What was the cost for those drawings? Its a great idea to add them to the bound books. In the books that I have had bound there are generally 1 or 2 blank pages in the front and in the rear of the book. I wonder if more blank pages could be added by the binder if requested?? :? :thumb: :thumb:

DL was doing a free sketch for anyone who bought an issue of Young Liars for a while. I got in touch with him and said basically if I buy 2 of am issue would you do sketches? He said okay.

I also will be getting some sketches from Cliff VanMeter in the future as awhile ago he had a Magnus painting at auction and anyone who bid got a sketch, I spoke with him and he said he could do a few more at about 25 per.
I've contacted other pencillers to get their prices on the sketch and specifying the size due tot he binding process. Don Perlin for example was approx 50 for a pencil sketch plus a bit more for inking. Neil Vokes who did the Ninjak VH2 art was another I contacted.

Typically though I get sketches at Motor City Con for about 20 for a headshot. A little more you can get more full body sketches. Georges Jeanty did a buffy sketch for me for 25, as he charges for any buffy sketch but will do anything else for free.

As for blank pages you can instruct LBC to put a few more pages in there for no charge.

though I am considering getting some black glossy paper and some silver sharpies I think those would look supercool.

glad you like them.

I'm sending in my first 3 Valiant books to be hard bound. 2 Pre-Unity books and Unity. I'm doing red buckram with black foil. Reason being is that the black part of the dye stamp will be the actual black part of the Valiant logo.

I'm pretty stoked about this. I've put off reading all the Pre-Unity books until I send these out. I want to read them all at once.

TravAzz,

Nice work man. I am thinking of doing a HC project on another board and that will definitely come in handy.

I had considered getting some stuff done, but probably some non Valiant till my second and third sets are complete.

I wanted to get my DC showcase '93 to '96 12 issue mini series done up.
The i found out that the local company i was going to use that are less than a mile from where i live no longer exist.

SO any UK board members that know of a place over here they recommend im all ears.

That would make sense, now go get back into the Wonder Woman costume and be quiet.

I know that US board members would be willing to help you out. If you buy a full run from a US ebayer and send it to us, we could send it to libarary binding for you and then ship it when it comes back. Alot of hassle but you could find a place to bind over here easier.

Draco ~ it costs a bomb in the UK. Steevetropper knows a place £20 per bound book, not including postage their and back, which would probably end up the same as arround cambridge, £32. Size doesn't matter. I thought it was way to much, so am going to attempt it myself early next year. Start with demon.

Scotland has good book bnding suppliers. If you find a cheaper book binder let me know.

Winner. thought maybe it was me but luckily im not going mad.

I will take a look after X-mas i think.
I see to have some fine runs of Indy titles from the early 80's to present day and would love to have those babies out on shelfs.

I know all my indy stuff will never be worth more than 10p each so ill never be able to sell them if i wanted or i were really in need.

This makes it that much cooler.
