I hear you on the cheap OA! I have a page of some Superman Annual that I got for a song on eBay. I don't even collect Superman, but I honestly paid something like 99 cents for it.
It's one-of-a-kind published OA by respectable artists of big-name superhero(s,) and I didn't even have to pay for S&H as it was a local buy. How could I refuse?

I did ask him to ship in a box and he said he had already sent the books. I've got my fingers crossed that the books aren't cr@p by the time they get here. Unfortunately, I saw your post about this seller in the other thread after I had already won my auction (and bragged about it here) or I wouldn't even have bought from him for one penny. I don't need the waste of time.Dr. Solar wrote:I would request this buyer send the comics in a box.
I bought a Solar run from him and it showed up as a stack with a backing board on either end taped together and then thrown in an envelope. Very poorly packed.
When I complained to him he sent me the difference between what he charged for shipping and what the actual shipping cost was ($2.50). He full well knows he is ripping people off for shipping, and he flat out told me he was doing it to milk more money from the auction.
I will neg him on the shipping and ask for the difference too if the books get dinged - which seems likely.

When I sent my payment I asked him to ship them in a box, and he didn't. Maybe he has learned something since then, we emailed back and forth a bit about what comic buyers expect from a seller.worldsbestcomics wrote:I did ask him to ship in a box and he said he had already sent the books. Good luck. Even if they are banged up a bit it is still a good deal, especially if you can get it for actual shipping cost via refund.

Pretty nice actually. I've been looking for a 9.8 for a while but they get a little pricey. This is nice for the price you paid...D_N_G wrote:not the greatest deal, but one ive been looking to grab fo awhile:

I have yet to jump into the slabbed arena. I want to finish up my sets, get some nice doubles and have certain issues slabbed, but, I can't do that unless I also have a reading copy. These things are too good to just put in a case and never read. I almost thought about a slabbed copy last weekend, but this guy was selling XO #0 in 9.8 for about 30 dollars. I coulda puked.
I TOTALLY agree with ya. I have had two slabbed books in my life. They just sat there so I got rid of them. I think they ended up going in my CF auctions. I was given one and the other I bought cheap but I just could not see myself keeping these around. Kind of like a coffin for a comic. (shrug) Thats just me but I do understand others wanting that guarantee of grade.xodacia81 wrote:These things are too good to just put in a case and never read.

Interesting on the slabbed. I have 3 XO #0. One of them is a reader, the others are in a bag, one on either side of the board. Those are both in excellent condition. Maybe I should see what it would cost to slab it, then go sell it at a show after the craze hits again, turn around and use that on something I really want. Now, I just need to get those extra copies of Magnus 1 and Solar 2,6,7 and 8 that I have on hold. I hate when the wallet gets stretched.

Today, I traded in some old books for credit, including my Magic books, so apologies to any who might have wanted to trade. I never got any pms, so I traded them. Sorry all. Then, at a total of 40-all credit-I got Magnus 63/XO 62-64/Bloodshot 40&41,43-47,49/Harbinger 2-in mint-35, 37/Shadowman 33 &35, 39-43. Next time I go, I'm picking up those Solars and early Magnus I have waiting as doubles on reserve. I think I might clear some more books out later this month. I am on a real VALIANT tear and with new books coming out, I want to be as complete as possible before those darned "PURE" speculators start jacking up the prices beyond my reach.

Won't let me edit, so I had to add this-I also picked up Hard Corps 26, thus completing my set. By complete, I don't mean all the variants, but completing my basic set. I am now done with Dr. Mirage, Hard Corps, Archer & Armstrong and close to being finished (8 issues or less) with XO, Solar, Magnus, Secret weapons, Geomancer, Bloodshot ,Ninjak and Shadowman. I am nowhere near done with Timewalker, Armorines, Visitor, Psilords or the Vintage series. I am prob stil forgetting something.xodacia81 wrote:Today, I traded in some old books for credit, including my Magic books, so apologies to any who might have wanted to trade.
