I bought mine a while back for $.50 cents (or was it $.75). Thanks for reminding me as well about my Ultraverse books. Mine had been lost in the back of my head since the day Bro J send me those two Ultraverse vol II painted cover books.

turned out to be a stock photo, and the book that arrived was the yellow logo Elven #1...

The seller instantly gave a refund and told me just to keep the book, but that doesn't get me any closer to actually having the book I need.

Yeah, like 4,999 of the Break Thru #1 Ultra 5000, Big Tel has the only copy.

I don't know if this a full-fledged variant or not, but I have two copies of Hardcase #3, one has a barcode and the other does not.

Any ideas?

The barcode is the only variant ? One is newsstand (barcode) and the other is 'direct sales'. No price difference, no cover variant ? The no, not a full fledged variant. Price differences for the same books = variant, different cover or variantion of a cover = variant. Some would even go so far as to say same books pollybagged and same books not pollybagged = variant. But personally I think that is a stretch but within the realm of possibility.

The thing that makes this book amazing to me is:

A. As far as I can tell, this is another book that fell off the radar and isn't listed at any of the usual Ultraverse lists.

B. Ultraverse Premiere #0 was already a send away book, like Harbinger #0 Pink. Having this book be an Ultra 5,000 would be similiar to having a gold logo edition of Harbinger Pink. Kind of weird...

I'm telling you, it was a marketing ploy....they had lots of leftovers, they hotstamped it with foil, and VOILA!

A new variant.

Lame.

It's EXACTLY what Jay Company is doing with the museums and 100/500s...taking books that there's overstock on, "creating" a new cover....then selling at huge profit.

I just picked up a Origins: Variant Gatefold, Ultra 5,000 & A book with Hardcase on the cover saying 'Catch' with a # in the corner.

I see a few of you need the 'Origins' book, whats it worth?
