I think the thing to keep in mind is that most of the Atlas/Seaboard line would have been kept together with the superhero comics. The Vicki comics were more likely placed with the kiddie comics so they weren't saved as often.gowaltrip wrote:Thanks for the info guys. I have seen a fair share of Atlas books, but so far, Ive never personally seen an issue of Vicki....so Id say you guys are probably right.

A couple of interesting Atlas Auctions on E-Bay if anyone is interested.

Gothic Romances
Now, I'm one magazine away from completing my Atlas/Seaboard set.
Unfortunately, it's Gothic Romances.

Unfortunately, it's Gothic Romances.

At the SDCC, they were about $4-6 depending on condition. (Most are Fine or better.) The Vicki's were the most expensive (and the magazines.) Mile High is charging about $8-9 for NM copies and they're pretty reasonable with the lower grade copies (with combined shipping.)Knightt wrote:how much $$$/per ?
The VG ones are only a couple of bucks.
Just let me know which ones you need and we can work something out.
I started out in San Diego with a little over 40% done and I made it a mini-goal to try and finish the Universe set there. (I got pretty close.) I also ended up with a LOT of extras that were upgrades (or were comics I thought were hard to find that I should pick up.)
No extras on the Vicki's though.
I really LOVE these Atlas books. I am trying to put together a complete set of just the comics (I may go the Magazines afterwards, but Ive never been much on Comic Magazines).
I was able to pick up a Vicki #1 and #2 in a dumpser dive a few months ago and about flipped out! (Less than $1 each!!!). Sometimes I find stacks of Atlas Comics in dumpsters and pull out the best ones and the ones I need.
I also find some I need, but the prices are too high. After getting nearly all of them out of dumpsters, I cannot find myself willing to pay $4-$6 for 1 issue I need. (Im so cheap).
If I get down to less than 10 to go (which right now is probably in the 20's left to go), I would consider the few extra dollars to get me closer to completing the collection. But for right now, Im sticking with dumpster prices.
These are a true JOY to find and own. I sometimes think they would be great fodder for a rebirth. Even though there were only a few issues of each, the characters seem enjoyable to look at. I'll admit, I havent read much. But the books have a very Marvel-esque Bronze Age look and feel to them. If the rights are out there and available, I would love for someone to pick them up and post New stories. (I know, very wishful thinking)....But if so...these books would be sought after (if the relaunch was successful) and the books could skyrocket! (Fat chance).
In the meantime, I can only say its a great universe and small enough that most of us can pick up the entire history of at least the comic side of it without too much drama.
I cant wait to get the rest!

The return of the Atlas/Seaboard characters, while a long-shot, may have a pulse. I maintain the Atlas Archives http://www.atlasarchives.com and the number one question I get is - Who owns the rights to the Atlas/Seaboard characters and how can I get in touch with them ? I've passed along that information to many interested parties, several who are currently working in the comics field. Like I said, a longshot at best, but one can hope.gowaltrip wrote:I really LOVE these Atlas books. Besides comic books and comic book related magazines, Seaboard also published other magazines, including a confession magazine - My Secret. Take a look...

Wow! Great Site you have there. I seen the link before, but never checked it out. Im glad I finally did.
I hope someone of power would buy the rights and take a stab at these characters. The only concern is are they too 70s and unnoticable? For us very few that have collected them. To me at least, they are enjoyable finds.
I will go through mine and PM you the list of what I am needing. Having a set of these is a collecting goal I started on about a year ago.
Thanks for the info and great site!

Yes, I LOVE the site. When I first got 'back into these' svair sent me the link to it and it took me a while to get through it all and loved every minute of it !!! I still go back for into every now and then but it has been instrumental in me putting together a my needs list. Thanks for making this site and maintaining it. These books need not to be forgotten.TheVisitor wrote:The return of the Atlas/Seaboard characters, while a long-shot, may have a pulse. Atlas/Seaboard Magazine
Here is some additional output from Atlas/Seaboard. Not Comic Book related, but this should be of interest to any Atlas/Seaboard enthusiast.
