the shop i referred to in another post giving me the bait and switch on a couple of unity golds was the pack shack in "detroit" it's actually in taylor i think. i had been a regular customer there and probably spent about $200 in 6 months trying to clean them out on valiants when this happened-didn't buy the books, haven't been back. every other shop around here has been great!

Hey There,
I know what you mean on changing prices. Sucks!!!!!!.
This is my first time to visit and to post. My Wife and I have a shop in Chattanooga Tn. Yes we have dollar boxes and there are Valiant comics there. Nothing less though. A few years ago there were 10 cent boxes everywhere for Valiant books but not now. There are younger people coming in who never heard of Valiant and most will say they are awesome books. I keep all of my early issues at home. I will not sell them in dollar boxes. They are too good!!! Just to let you know this is not a add for my store but a Valiant Universe fan who has found a great site to keep up with the Valiant Universe!!!!!!!!

There is absolutely nothng in the world wrong with 'keeping the good stuff for yourself'. Nothing at all. If it's not for sale, it's not for sale....if it's for sale *for a price*...that's different. Everyone has a price they're willing to sell whatever they have at. For me, it's when Harb #1 hits $150 again. That is what I'd feel comfortable selling at, even though I've bought a couple dozen for $5 (or less.) That is what they are worth to ME, $150 or more.verdolman wrote:Hey There,

That doesn't mean that the market will BEAR that, and I am aware of that. So, I just hold them until and if the market will bear that, and then I'll sell or trade. But, everyone's price is different, and I don't advertise silly, non-market bearing prices, except in jest, because...let's be honest....outside of original art (and the occasional super rare premium), there's nothing that anyone has comic wise that someone else isn't willing to sell for cheaper.
If someone WANTS to pay me $150 for a harb #1, I'm not going to turn them down, but I'll also ask them if they wouldn't rather pay $25-$30 for it on eBay.
But having your CUSTOMERS do YOUR leg work to pull out YOUR stock that is 'worth money'....that's not only wrong, it's marginably illegal (if the comics aren't priced) and definitely illegal if they are. If it's not for sale at the price posted, whether it be a sticker price, or a bin price, then do your damn job and TAKE IT OUT...or sell it for the marked price. Duh.
