I'm done with Valiant. I refuse to wait months until another series comes along. If Valiant cant deliver Bloodshot, Harbinger, Shadowman, XO monthly as their flagship books then I cant get with this.
Thanks for the ride, its been fun at times.

Looks like you were bang on with your speculation!jeremycoe wrote:Valiant's solicitations for February should be released tomorrow. Anyone thinking we might be surprised? Right now I am expecting the following:
A&A #12
Ninjak #24
Faith #8
Generation Zero #7
Savage #4
Harbinger: Renegade #4
Divinity III: Stalinverse #3
Divinity III: Shadowman
Will we see a new Bloodshot series, or possibly a continuation of Reborn? Maybe something else unexpected?
I'll be honest, I'm not feeling overly enthusiastic about half of these titles right now.

Same - moreso with another BS hiatus. Earlier I said I was done with Valiant - too harshly and over-reactive as I dig Divinity and Ninjak and am liking Britannia (tho I wish it went longer than 4 issues - the current mini feels like it needs 5 or 6 to tie everything up).grendeljd wrote:Looks like you were bang on with your speculation!jeremycoe wrote:Valiant's solicitations for February should be released tomorrow. That said, I totally get you: this line-up of books does nothing for me. I want to read Ninjak and Divinity. Could not care less about the rest.
But I hope this is a really fast temporary bump: and yeah, if things don't improve fast, I'll probably end my all-in attitude as a buyer. I have now 3 months of some of them VEI books that I don't want to read, just don't feel like it. That is weird and something to think about. Why am I still buying comics I don't read? Because I want to support a small company. But that is not enough- I have to get something back. I want more than half of the titles to be to my own taste, just like it was in points. I want to really ENJOY Valiant, not just read it for the sake of reading a shared superhero universe.
No X-O and now no Bloodshot is weird. These characters ARE Valiant to me.

Come on Bloodshot, you ain't going no where. Think about what they are doing first...jeremycoe wrote:Nairbe wrote:Can I have your stuff?Bl00dsh0t wrote:No Bloodshot.

Harbinger just kicked off....
side comic with Faith (popular, even if you don't like it)
Gen Zero chugging along (let's all hope it gets darker, as I think it could)
Ninjak won't end soon, especially with the online miniseries coming up
Divinity III with all those beautiful 1-shots
Savage, god this will be amazing!
Bloodshot, probably a continuation, just not under Lemire. Too good of a story to turn away. (we've all heard rumors)
XO, we all know this is coming back. it may not be Feburary, but it's coming back.
Harbinger Wars 2 it's gonna happen
Shadowman... Heard rumors, but still nothing solid here.
Warmother, strictly rumors, but scripts turned in???
Basically 3 out of the 4 problems you have are pretty solid, 2 of the 4 are solid.
But, if you do decide to leave, I know a guy who would seriously want all your stuff, got his address and cell number too. Ok, it's me, I want all your stuff...

What you're feeling is the definition of what Valiant can be expanding. We took the opportunity 2016 presented to build new corners for the universe (Divinity, Britannia, Savage, Faith, Generation Zero etc). To do that we had to put the big toys away for a bit. Behind the scenes, we've been using the time to quietly build what we think will be their best runs yet (made possible by the addition of all the new characters and ideas we put on the board this year...can't say too much though about this yet). Harbinger Renegade is the first part of that but things really kick off in March. Can't wait for everyone to see what we're cooking up and get as excited as I've been these last few months! Sorry to see you take a break. Totally understand. You're going to miss some great stories.

February 2017 Solicitations
Holy crap, I just checked out DC and Marvel February solicits, and I'm incredulous that anybody could be *SQUEE* at Valiant for having the audacity to make quality the only determinant in whether a title gets to run on. If the rumors are true that Lemire has ended his run on Bloodshot, and editorial has not yet seen a good pitch to see the story move forward, well then obviously the title goes on hiatus or even (gasp) ends. If Dinesh & company published some filler issues before the next viable script comes in from a creative writer, we'd all howl. I miss Shadowman more than anyone but I suspect that the pitch quality for new scripts for this particular title has not, for whatever reason, been high. I endorse patience.

I wonder if we can anticipate a Valiant First/Valiant Next/Future of Valiant style announcement.
Between a possible new character getting announced and Dinesh's hints about upcoming stuff, the next 30 days are going to be tough!

Re: February 2017 Solicitations
A&A - I'm not sad to see this version end. While I did appreciate the character growth involved, the level of silliness was too high for my tastes. No more Davey the Mackeral or handbag making supervillain please. The Illuminati groups were strange and silly, but believable in a comic book way. At least the last arc had the freaks in a circus where you could expect to see strange stuff. But Davey walking around (and going to a job!?) in a suit and glasses as a disguise and nobody looking twice or calling in the military scientists to abduct and study this 'alien'?? All the nopes.grendeljd wrote:Looks like you were bang on with your speculation!jeremycoe wrote:Valiant's solicitations for February should be released tomorrow. I'll be honest, I'm not feeling overly enthusiastic about half of these titles right now.
Ninjak - Can keep chugging along with it's usual goodness.
Faith - I can understand how this isn't everyone's cup of tea, but it's pretty good for me, so I look forward to it continuing. Really wondering how they're going to portray Faith on her own in this title and part of the group over in 'Renegade' at the same time.
Gen Zero - Not quite what I hoped for yet, but not ready to give up on it yet either.
Savage - Haven't even seen #1 of this yet, so there's no way I can judge #4, but I'm sure I'll be buying it to give it a chance. I know the art looks fabulous.
Harbinger Renegade - #1 was great, and I look forward to seeing where it will go from here.
Divinity: Anything - Yes please, may I have another?

Exactly, great attitude to take with this kind of thinggasstaxx wrote:... I guess it pays to remember that no matter what any company puts out they'll never please *everyone*, so the best they can do is aim to do the best they can and if a portion of that involves 'not putting a comic on the shelves just for the sake of keeping it out there' and rather 'for the purposes of making sure the next run of the title is the best it can be' then that's gotta be supported right? Like Gas here I love the Shadowman character and it sucks that it's not had a title for over a year now, but if the next title blows my mind because that year was spent making sure the next Shadowman book is amazing when it finally arrives then I'm all for it.
Going back to Lemire and Bloodshot though: He publicly stated that he'd written about 2 year's-worth of material for the title: With BS:R/USA currently having run for about a year and a half, doesn't that mean that there's plenty of BS left in the pipeline for the time being, unless VEI have decided to take the book in a new direction and scrap the remaining portion of Lemire's writing? I'm honestly a bit out of the loop with this particular topic so does anyone know what's going on here? Has there been news of Lemire no longer working on the book that I've missed or something?

18 issues of reborn + 4 issues of usa + 2 event one shots + 1 annual is 25 issues, which is what he has said he'd written. I have no idea whether he's done or not, but I think marvel has him locked up pretty tight for non creator owned work.Shadowman99 wrote:Exactly, great attitude to take with this kind of thinggasstaxx wrote:... I'm honestly a bit out of the loop with this particular topic so does anyone know what's going on here? Has there been news of Lemire no longer working on the book that I've missed or something?

Re: February 2017 Solicitations
Always great to hear from the boss. Thanks for the shot in the arm, Dino! I'm looking forward to the future still and can't wait to see what's coming up next!dino wrote:New Bloodshot issue in March. We'll reveal what the larger Bloodshot plan is with that. Don't worry, we got you.

Re: February 2017 Solicitations
If we count the Valiant as Lemire's first Bloodshot story, then he has been writing the character for well over two years. The Valiant + Bloodshot Reborn + Bloodshot USA + Bloodshot Annual + Fall of Bloodshot + 4001 AD Bloodshot + Komandar Bloodshot = 30 Issues. He even called Bloodshot USA the culmination in everything in his run starting from The Valiant.
So before the end of 2017 we'll have Harbinger, Bloodshot, X-O Manowar, and Shadowman back in brand new ongoing series. Basically Valiant's core franchises will all be back in the lime light this year. I doubt Archer & Armstrong will be on hiatus for long.

Re: February 2017 Solicitations
Wow, didn't even occur to me that BS:R has run 18 issues already, nevermind the other stuff... Guess I just haven't kept tabs on things that closely lately! Nice to be back up to speed again at least
It'll be interesting to see what else is on the shelves at the same time the pillars are back in force

Re: February 2017 Solicitations
glad to see A&A end, give it back to FVL or give it to someone who has actually read his run properly. rafer roberts wrote his story like the second half of FVL's run never happened, which is ridiculous from a company that is meant to have tight continuity

so Savage and A&A are ending, Divinity and possibly Ninjak (#25) are ending the following month. What will VEI fill these slots with? X-O, Bloodshot, Shadowman?

I wonder if there will be a Savage II, Savage III, and Savage IV Mini-series?mateo107 wrote:so Savage and A&A are ending, Divinity and possibly Ninjak (#25) are ending the following month. What will VEI fill these slots with? X-O, Bloodshot, Shadowman?

The Seven Blades of Master Darque is four parts, so Ninjak will go to at least #26, but I'm thinking this series will continue after that.
