Re: All-New All-Different Marvel
Wait wait wait. So creating a previously unknown African American son for 616 Nick Fury, and then putting his eye out (the same one that his father is missing), was a purely creative decision? That's worse than if it was directing by Marketing.dornwolf wrote:Alonso also commented on the publisher's relationship with the movies in the NY Daily News interview: "We are under no pressure to fall in line [with the films]. All those movies started on the comic page, and with the freedoms creators had to bend the universe -- and occasionally break it."

throw that on the doorstep of every comic shop
And how about a saying like "We don't treat our fans like doormats"?

Re: All-New All-Different Marvel
The only hope I had for "All New Bla Bla Bla Marvel" is that Bendis will be writing a new Iron Man book. But then I read about Gillen's "adopted Tony Secret Origins" arc being supported and now -ugh-. It's Bendis, so I'll give it a shot, but it will be the only Marvel book in my order.
I haven't read a single Secret Wars book. I'll read about it on Wiki or something once it wraps up.

and don't forget about killing off all SHIELD agents like Dum Dum Duggan because he showed up in WW2 in the Captain America movieskjjohanson wrote:Wait wait wait. and totally don't point out how Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch were all of a sudden important enough again to not only get back on the Avengers book but had the origins retconned again to remove ties to Magneto.
or how Coulson now exists in the comics
you can keep this going for a while and most of it in the last five years.

Bendis was talking a bit about the book at Special Edition yesterday. It seem that the Waynes are his biological parents.IMJ wrote:The only hope I had for "All New Bla Bla Bla Marvel" is that Bendis will be writing a new Iron Man book. I'd heard about the adoption thing, that is one of the single dumbest retcons I've ever heard.kjjohanson wrote:Bendis was talking a bit about the book at Special Edition yesterday. This is the last summer that I buy monthly issues from Marvel/DC. From here on out it will be specific collected stories in trades/HCs (Weirdworld, for one, has my attention).
Even with this, it seems like diminishing returns.
fun fact: a post almost-identical to this one appears in the "Post-Convergence" thread!

Re: All-New All-Different Marvel
man marvel is really messing up. on marvel unlimited i started reading the old stuff. the new books (unlimited is 6 months behind so new is spider verse etc) really aren't all that captivating. actually i take that back. the books that aren't their flagship titles seem to be decent. been enjoying punisher.wokuya wrote:This is the last summer that I buy monthly issues from Marvel/DC. I think he's only doing Secret Wars (the actual titled book) and then he's done with Marvel indefinitely according to his Twitter a few months back.ilzuccone wrote:What book is Hickman writing in this all new marvel. Trying to read his avengers stuff on marvel unlimited without falling asleep.
He's taking time to focus on his creator-owned stuff.

Hickman isn't going to be writing anymore books for Marvel. He says he is burnt out and needs some time off.

Interesting that Iron Man is the centerpiece in both those images.
