Oh, really?

You deserve to have 10 copies of an awesome book because you spent years looking through hundreds of thousands of books to find those 10?
You deserve to have 10 copies of an awesome book because you watched the auctions and bought them at the right time with the money you saved?

What? You didn't?

You just saw his stack of 10 and said, "HOARDER! YOU MUST SPLIT THEM UP! YOU'VE GOT SO MANY GIVE ME A BULK DISCOUNT!"

You've done nothing. You get what you've earned.

No, wait. You did do something. You typed your outrage on the internet. OK, I'll take the time to respond in kind...

This is for you...

NO. :peace:

I had a meeting with my boss and his boss, the leader of our division. We are changing to a management structure that provides clarity on what exactly people make, how much r the average salary increase is, etc. I told them I didn't think clarity would make happier employees. The happy people will be happy if they believe the process is fair. Complainers will complain regardless, and knowing they got less than others will just provide more metrics for them to argue with. And all those Debbie downers will bring others down. It will be a distraction, and may likely have the opposite result wanted.

They were not happy with that opinion. Boss' boss looked physically irritated....

You'll never make those people happy. They will always look at others with envy.

The quality, history, and value is there, yes, but some people just want Deadpool, Harley Quinn, or The Walking Dead and nothing more. I suspect a large portion of the comic book community doesn't read or collect anything outside of what is popular or in theaters at that exact moment. Gives them a wider pool of social re-enforcement to draw upon.
I 100% agree with everything you just said, but I mean.. he works at a comic shop. You'd think he could (and would want to) hold a conversation with a customer about a book that they might not read personally.
I know collector's paradise managers (at least the managers) read every new release. I've seen the stacks. i don't envy them but they can give me an opinion on a book. :thumb:

I remember I was at a comic book convention and was trying to find a couple comics to take home. Found this one stand with a big sign claiming it was a trove of 80s and 90s stuff. And it kinda was, with a whole bunch of obscure starter-company crap among the big names.

"Hey, sir, you got any Valiant in here?"

"What's a Valiant?"

It's a question I've heard constantly in my futile search of buying offline, but that just made me sigh and walk.

(I once tried to deliberately bank on no one knowing Valiant to one-up an old teacher of mine who had spent 2 years making me feel like a lowly sheep. Turned out to be the only person I've ever known besides my dad who had heard of Valiant before. Made me so mad.)

Yup, and I suppose that eBay, Amazon, Facebook, ValiantFans, Mile High, Heritage, MyComicShop.com, ComicConnect, and the CGC Boards just refuse to ship to Arkansas for like $1-$2 in shipping fees. That must be it... :|
:gossip: I'm in Arkansas. :P
We're sorry. Maybe we can start a GoFundMe...

"These characters weren't good enough the first time around because the company blew up, so (insert the person's pet peeve here)".

This misconception of Valiant led me to one of my worst internet moments: an idiot posted something based on that misconception about the movie deal, which was enough to enrage me. Like real, misguided, unfounded rage. I can blame my new meds, but that would be low. I was really a *SQUEE* to that guy, although he deserved every bit of it. It's over at IGN, if anyone cares to go there and watch the poor spectacle of me going medieval on some troll. I even used my user ID.
facepalm

But, *SQUEE* me if that idiot was going to badmouth VEI for no reason whatsoever, just because he had nothing better to do. In that moment, i too had nothing better to do and took the time to defend "my" company. At the cost of being seen as a psycho. :|

My career has suffered more from being right than being wrong. Just wrap your head around that a bit and you start smiling and shaking your head a lot at ideas like the one you gave your opinion on.

It is a very sad, but true problem with corporate America...
