Hey guys,

I emailed Bob Layton a link to the colored pic and he looked at it!!! He mistakenly thought I created it since I emailed him the link, but I just corrected him in my reply. Here is the original email I sent him and his reply:

Mr. Layton,

I just wanted to let you know that a fan has colored the comic cover that you sent to John Taddeo for X-O Manowar #1 for Assassination comics. I realize that the auction for the Valiant properties isn't until April 12th and it is far from being a done deal that John wins them, but I thought you might want to see what a die hard Valiant fan has done to your great concept cover (or a "just in case it happens" cover).

Here is a link to the colored cover:

A huge fan of your work,
Chris Gould"

Hey, Chris,
I was very flattered to see that you took the time to add color to my illustration.
Thanks for sharing it with me. Good job.
BTW: if I could make a suggestion--coloring the background sky it's natural, light blue color might help pop the composition more. Contrast will help seperate the smoke from the sky and add more depth overall.
Oh my God--!! I just spoke 'editor'! :) Y'see--I can never get it out of me completely.
Keep up the good work and keep the Valiant spitit alive, my friend.
Bob

Dave is great. He sent me a Magnus and a Bloodshot sketch with each of my last two orders. They are fantastic!
