Another Valiant Free View! *UPDATE with FCBD results!*

Following the footsteps of Phoenix8008 I have put these together so far. Originally my LCS guy said that it would be a great idea to give these packages away at their anniversary (sometime in MAY) but now that I have thought about it more I think these will be given out now and (again thanks to Phoenix for the inspiration) I will do some trade paperback giveaways during the store's anniversary which will also coincide with the FCBD valiant 25th anniversary special and the new 2015 handbook. I hope I can get enough copies of those 2 items so that I may bundle them with the tpb's.

I think that will be an awesome way to get VEI noticed at my LCS - their anniversary is usually a big deal with lots of giveaways etc; so having half a dozen or so tp giveaways that day should get people to notice VEI; people that might have otherwise not paid attention before.

I can't say this enough Phoenix you have set an incredible example and I hope I the same luck following your lead.

Since my latest effort(which was in turn inspired my many other Valiant Free Views before mine!) was the inspiration for this project, I feel very proud to say: Great job! Especially for a new poster to these boards, this effort is gold worthy in my book and I hope you are rewarded thusly.

Time for another update -

Once again I give full credit to Phoenix8008 making this thread and thus allowing me to borrow from his example.

So my LCS tells me that Valiant subscribers are on the rise and that he expects that trend to continue. I am sure that most of that is likely due to Valiant's 'Next' campaign and maybe the whole movie thing. I have also noticed some 1:20 variants on the the stands were they were impossible to find before. My LCS store owner did say that my Valiant Free View issues were well received ( everyone like a freebie ) and some recipients have made inquiries for more valiant issues... so YAY!

So I decided it was time for round 2 at my LCS and in order to take advantage of the movie talk I included the preview for Bloodshot Reborn. ( I also included the preview for Ivar Timewalker but I wanted Bloodshot to be visible. )




I delivered them yesterday and he started giving them out right away. I don't expect these should last very long.

As I had originally planned I have acquired over a dozen TPBs which we will be giving out during his store's anniversary celebration in late June. I can't wait to get more Valiant readers.

P.S. the coolest moment ever and a first since I started back up with Valiant last year. As I was chatting with my LCS guy about Vaiant in general, someone from the back of the room that was browsing through comics kind of pop his head up and yelled "I love Valiant stuff!" - This was like finding life on another planet. I knew there were some Valiant fans out there but I had never run into them before. This guy had started reading Valiant too so I reserved a copy of Harby TPB vol1 just for him.

I have started doing something similar. For months, I have bought tons of discounted Valiant issues. I've made sets of 7-9 books and given them out. I have more stuff coming in my next DCBS shipment tomorrow. I am hoping they do a discount for some Ninjak or Bloodshot Reborn issues.

So, new update. It appears that my LCS is going to have multiple tables set up with their free comic book issues divided out by company and have a person at each table as a 'spokesman' for that company. Somebody knowledgeable in it's comics and willing to talk to people about them. I am going to be the spokesperson for Valiant!

I'm building a list of 'talking points' that I can cover with people and was hoping for input from others for what they thought might be important info to include. So what I'd like to ask of you reading this is for any bullet points you would use to describe VEI, the Valiant Universe, and their comics to people who know nothing about it. What do YOU think I should tell people about Valiant?

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

So, turns out I was the only 'company' spokesman. They other people at tables with me were local artists and such. The LCS got about 10 copies of the 25th anniversary FCBD book, but none of the 2015 Valiant Handbook. They also didn't get any of the extra books Adam & the LCS owner had talked about. Luckily, I had brought my box of duplicate issues (25 or so) so I started giving those away to anyone interested as well. (Especially since the LCS was limiting people to just 1 FCBD issue of their choice out of all the stuff they had.)



Had my issues laid out nicely, and my DVD player running on a loop showing a (self created) DVD of all the Valiant trailers that are out so far, along with the Harbinger #1 video comic courtesy of bribri from the boards here!! (Thanks alot for that man!) And here's me at the table itself:



Saw a couple friends from work, and handed stuff out to 15-20 new people after talking with them about Valiant comics, their 9 figure deal with DMG and their upcoming movies. Hopefully it pays off with a few more people picking up some Valiant on a regular basis.

Oh yeah, and to top it all off, the LCS owner had some press in there at the end of the day doing a story about their FCBD goings on. They interviewed the artists, took some pictures of them for the newspaper and the store's website/blog... and they did the same with me! Full on newspaper interview and some picks wearing my Valiant tshirt and holding up a comic! Had a great day overall (from 10am to almost 5pm) and got invited back to do it again next year! (This time I'll stock up on some Dollar Debut issues and hopefully more Valiant Handbooks to give away instead of random issues that I happened to have duplicates of.)

You are correct, the handbook is a regular release coming out this week.

That's what had me confused. Last years 2014 Handbook was a FCBD book!

100% agree with this. I hope someone from VEI is following this thread.
